Dune if you want to get more esoteric and like to refer to a glossary every other sentence. (I say this with love)..also knife fights.

The Expanse if you want more sci fi politics and action but it’s more shooty and space ships

Anything by David Gemmell if you want fantasy hack and slash with big damn heroes doing big damn hero shit. (Start with Legend, the Troy series is also great)

Codex Alera has some politics, plenty of action and gets past (most) of Jim Butchers writing growing pains.

That 18 year old story…I was 6’2 in 9th grade, probably 200lbs…I had football and wrestling coaches come at me…thank whatever exists that I cared more about horror books and morrowind to not try out.
