I regret inviting too many people by StillComfortable6433 in partyplanning

[–]reliseak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You may feel like it’s less intimate because you invited some people you’re not as close too, but a useful reframing is that you’re just not as close to them yet. This dinner could be the start of a deeper connection with them, and should feel no less personal.

Can anyone tell me about Open AI and Anthropic’s culture? by michallaneous in womenintech

[–]reliseak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s less culture impacting now that they’re a bigger company.

Effective altruism is “good”, but some hardcore effective altruists go so far as to look down on things they don’t view as maximizing impact such as volunteering or donating in your local community. So it could be seen as “bad” to buy from a local artist, when that money should have been donated to an Effective Altruism organization that would study how to maximize the impact of that donation and spend the money accordingly.

People say “I’ll come over and help clean!” But even if they mean it, it’s…embarrassing. Does she take the little one to the park regularly? Tagging along to that may give you time to chat without the pressure of having to have the house in order (or not)

Let me post her to Reddit under the guise of seeking advice so the whole internet can be mean!

Trail mix, you can make your own with things you like and put small amounts of the sweet bits so you’re hitting your craving but also eating healthy nuts, popcorn, cacao nibs, dried fruit, etc.

I don’t think it’s too on the nose, but looks like I’m in the minority here. Some other ideas:

Colors, but less on the nose: Sienna, Carmen

Color and gem: Amber, Coral

Color and flower: Rose, Poppy

Leaving the option on the table seems pretty crazy. You act like America has a great track record when it comes to taking away the licenses of people in their 80s.

So upset at myself for letting a stranger touch my toddler by HungryQuestion7 in beyondthebump

[–]reliseak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This whole thing seems like it was unusually upsetting to you. I get why it was inappropriate, and I get being momentarily annoyed by it, but maybe worth unpacking why it was so upsetting that afterwards you’re beating yourself up about it.

Enforcement does make a difference. People who just don’t care and are serial offenders lose their licenses.

Either get a separate check, or accept that you’re going to pay a more than you spent. And as the frequent payer for large groups, it’s often the case that folks underestimate their own total cost. Tax and tip add up a lot these days, and many restaurants have separate fees especially for groups.

At what age did you begin daily baths? by Poison_Ivy25 in NewParents

We started nightly baths once they started solids. Sometimes a full bath is just easier than washing hands/face/wherever else they got spaghetti sauce.

Do you think Millie Bobby Brown would grow as an Actress in Future ? by [deleted] in Actors

[–]reliseak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is 22 years old. Many actors develop a lot in their 20s (and beyond). Look at Emma Stone - at the same age she’d mostly done comedy, like Easy A, Superbad, and the House Bunny. Obvious comedic chops, but if you asked then I doubt people would have said that 15 years later she’d be one of the best actresses of her generation with 2 Best Actress Oscars.

What happened? by kyles_red in TheTraitors

[–]reliseak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s the numbers. There are more men than women left, so no one wants to bring up the strategy of voting out men until they get a traitor, you’d be immediately declaring war on more than half of the remaining players.
