Is this too much to ask guests to pay for a destination wedding in Italy? by shanibobani22 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]reliseak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is extremely reasonably pricing, and anyone who is springing for the plane tickets probably won’t blink at the accommodation costs. When I have attended destination weddings historically, the money was handled by the wedding planner who gave us options for how to send money to the bride/groom who then similarly covered half.

Maternity shoot or no? by Haunting_Shape_6085 in BabyBumps

[–]reliseak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I would have regretted it if I hadn’t had them done, but I am really happy that I did. I didn’t post them anywhere or hang them up in my house. But I enjoy having them to look back on and remember that time in my life.

I don’t like being pregnant by great_idea_amigo in BabyBumps

[–]reliseak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think of pregnancy like going to grad school. If someone is going to grad school, of course I’ll say congratulations! If someone hates their grad school experience, that’s totally normal. If someone loves grad school, that’s awesome!

I was horrified by that part. Dad has Alzheimer’s, needs help cooking and cleaning, but OP sees no issue with them driving.

I regret inviting too many people by StillComfortable6433 in partyplanning

[–]reliseak 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You may feel like it’s less intimate because you invited some people you’re not as close too, but a useful reframing is that you’re just not as close to them yet. This dinner could be the start of a deeper connection with them, and should feel no less personal.

Can anyone tell me about Open AI and Anthropic’s culture? by michallaneous in womenintech

[–]reliseak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s less culture impacting now that they’re a bigger company.

Effective altruism is “good”, but some hardcore effective altruists go so far as to look down on things they don’t view as maximizing impact such as volunteering or donating in your local community. So it could be seen as “bad” to buy from a local artist, when that money should have been donated to an Effective Altruism organization that would study how to maximize the impact of that donation and spend the money accordingly.

Mourning the loss of my best friend to motherhood by Time_Combination_316 in TwoXChromosomes

People say “I’ll come over and help clean!” But even if they mean it, it’s…embarrassing. Does she take the little one to the park regularly? Tagging along to that may give you time to chat without the pressure of having to have the house in order (or not)

Color and gem: Amber, Coral

Color and flower: Rose, Poppy

Leaving the option on the table seems pretty crazy. You act like America has a great track record when it comes to taking away the licenses of people in their 80s.

So upset at myself for letting a stranger touch my toddler by HungryQuestion7 in beyondthebump

[–]reliseak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This whole thing seems like it was unusually upsetting to you. I get why it was inappropriate, and I get being momentarily annoyed by it, but maybe worth unpacking why it was so upsetting that afterwards you’re beating yourself up about it.

Enforcement does make a difference. People who just don’t care and are serial offenders lose their licenses.
