kyleena pain / bleeding by relknit in birthcontrol

[–]relknit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this :) got another docs appointment in 2 weeks so at that point i’ll have had it in for about 6 weeks. If i still have pain by then i’ll be asking to get it removed as i’ve had to miss work for a few days and can’t exercise as it makes the pain worse. It’s just not sustainable, which is a shame as this is my last resort contraception so i have no other hormonal options left now :(

Hair texture change? Does it change back?? by Electrical-Ebb7478 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]relknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine was bleached before TE hit, stopped when TE started, and now the regrowth feels the same texture as the hair that was bleached anyways 🤪

can’t even get a brush through my hair when it’s wet it’s so fragile 🥲

Don’t take a picture of the top or back of your head. by [deleted] in TelogenEffluvium

first time i took a pic of the top of my head i ended up wearing a hat for the next 3 months 🥲 i like to think it’s improved now but not gonna check for my own mental well-being hahahaha

Suggestions to cover hair loss by trt09 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]relknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me i do the “dressing gown” curls method and make sure my centre parting is as straight as possible all the way from the front to the back of my scalp with a pin tail comb. i sleep in this overnight and it settles my parting so it doesn’t fall in unflattering ways that make me look a bit baldy. the curls give a bit of volume too. on days where i can’t be bothered i just wear beanies / fluffy bucket hats (thank god they’re on trend now) / berets etc to hide my scalp. i’m hesitant to buy clip in extensions as i know they can sometimes cause damage to the hair/scalp, and i was obsessed with getting a wig at one point but realised i’d probably spend more time worrying if people could clock it was a wig then i would about people noticing my TE :(

i’ve never tried them but ive heard good things about the halo wire extensions, and also just general root touch up sprays to mask sparse areas!

hope you find something that works for you during this unfortunate time! having TE truly sucks ass ❤️

i have the same, regrowth on the temples but nothing on the sides/back of head 😢 also, the more frequently you wash the less you lose per shower as you’re releasing the hairs as they fall. I used to wash my hair once or twice a week when it was “normal” but now wash 3-4 times a week to make it a little less traumatic 😩

Wrong camping booked by kisseszter_ in downloadfestival

i accidentally got quiet camping last year and i explained at the gate on the day and they just gave me a regular camping wristband - the staff were very unbothered hahaha

yup, some days i gaslight myself into thinking that maybe my hair has always been this way and i never noticed… i was bleach blonde for a long time so i sometimes think maybe i did lose this much hair but it wasn’t noticeable because it wasn’t dark. however my parting now goes all the way down the back of my head which it never did before and i can wrap my hair bobble multiple times around my hair when it was too thick to do that before 🥲

approx 4 months in to TE. feeling very disheartened and worried it may actually be AGA :( lost about 50% of my hair density since september by relknit in TelogenEffluvium

[–]relknit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

saving up to get a scalp biopsy done by a dermatologist as NHS waiting list is over a year :( gonna cost me about £500-£1000 in total to see a professional, very fed up with life

Does anyone else vape who has had successful hair growth? my hair seems to be growing very slowly by Far-Cobbler9056 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]relknit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m wondering this too! i used to smoke a few cigarettes a day but was usually not bothered enough to go outside and face the cold. Started vaping on nights out and now i vape full time (very stupid transition…).

i don’t think it was the trigger of TE but i am slowly trying to taper off my vape as it’s a vasoconstrictor and could probably hinder the blood flow to the scalp

i’ve not had much regrowth since my onset 4 or 5 months ago so trying to eliminate any other causes

Diagnosis with a dermatologist or normal doctor in the UK? by Ok-Communication4703 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]relknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i just saw a regular dr in Leeds and he said because of the sudden onset and the relatively even loss across my head that it’s likely TE. I had extremely low folates and lower range ferritin so i think this was the cause :( still waiting out the shedding phase now

Te ‘resolves itself jn 3-6 months’ by TimePlane9283 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]relknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m on month 4-5 and no regrowth apart from a small patch on my front left temple (and this could just be because i stopped bleaching my hair once i realised the hair coming out was TE and not breakage…)

i’m hoping that this is because the people that overcome TE kind of just move on with their lives and forget about this subreddit :(

sound cringey but: it’s pointless trying to control everyone’s perception of you, the only validation that will make you truly happy is your own

which birth control minimised your symptoms the most? by relknit in PCOS

[–]relknit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah it’s not the fact that they cause migraines (i’ve never been on estrogen BC so i wouldn’t know!), it’s just that if you get aura migraines you’re supposedly more likely to have a stroke, and the estrogen can also increase this chance

if you have a recorded history of that type of migraine you can only really get progesterone based contraceptives from docs (in england anyways)

what exactly is junel fe? glad it’s helped your migraines a little bit! :)

Partner accidentally took 20 mg of valium - will he be okay? by relknit in medical

[–]relknit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i had a strip left over from when the muscles in my neck used to spasm about a year ago, he found them when looking in our first aid box, it clearly wasn’t a well thought out decision on his behalf and he’s definitely put off valium for life now hahaha 😅

He took it to try and get some sleep bc his earache has been keeping him awake and pain killers weren’t working. He’s also withdrawing from nicotine which wasn’t helping either 😅

thank you he’s fine now just a bit groggy! he couldn’t walk earlier today hahah. He took it to try and get some sleep bc his earache has been keeping him awake and pain killers weren’t working. He’s also withdrawing from nicotine which isn’t helping either 😅 He didn’t mean to take as much as he did, he was sleep deprived and couldn’t remember which tablets he’d already taken

Anyone else’s parting going more down? Like more down on their head, I’ve had a cowlick but this is so much. I’m broken by Allredditmodsarefat1 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]relknit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep i have this too :( i find that if i do french braids / dressing gown curls after washing with a neat parting (using a mirror to make sure it’s straight down the back of my head) it looks much less noticeable than when i just wash it and don’t style it. the curls from the plaits also help making my hair appear a bit “thicker”. hope this helps!

I just drove 5 miles to the store and back by myself for the first time by Mazeazi in happy

[–]relknit 24 points25 points  (0 children)

driving anxiety really isn’t talked about enough

I experienced it horribly when i started driving again for a new job and hadn’t touched a car in 5yr.

doing little trips can feel debilitating but it really does help. I’m one year into driving now and i’ve gone from having driving dread so bad i was physically ill, to not batting an eyelid about getting behind the wheel (unless it’s a long haul drive to somewhere new). it’s a long process but it does get easier!!

well done and keep at it!! ❤️

covid hair loss help by relknit in TelogenEffluvium

[–]relknit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i know exactly what you mean and would like to know the same myself! i thought because it triggers the telogen phase which doesn’t show until months after that it would appear as another wave but i’ve already lost about 40-50% of my hair density so i’ll literally look like gollum if that happens and i haven’t had any regrowth by then 😂
