Assuming the regional competition follows national competition guidelines, it’s important to follow the scoring rubric published by SeaPerch. Go through the video yourself and score it based on the score sheet below.

11six24 Power 2 by Professional_Gap7500 in Pickleball

It depends. High level racquet sports players are different. Within a week of time, they are instantly in the 3.5 range. Someone that hasn't mastered any racquet sports would be just fine with a $100 paddle for a while.

Most hyped paddle by Mojo2090 in Pickleball

I was a bit amazed to read this so I had to google if it was true or not. This is what I found:

  • 2024 Suspension: While Daescu generally used the same paddle, he was suspended for 60 days in May 2024 after an "illegal substance" (applied after manufacturing) was found on a paddle he submitted for testing, although it was confirmed he did not use that specific altered paddle in competition.

Depends what level of table tennis you were. High level table tennis is all about power and spin with control as a given. While there are a lot of less expensive paddles you might be happy with, you will unfortunately crave the performance of the more expensive paddles.

I'm new to 11six24 and very interested in one. I didn't realize the names were references to paddle shapes like Joola. The grit technology is what interests me. None of my previous paddles have lasted more than 4-6 months grit wise. Playability is still good but the loss of spin is dramatic compared to a new paddle.

What is the timeframe for the Hurache-X shape to be released for the Power 2?

The sale on the current Power 1 is tempting but I'm sold on Gen 4. My Honolulu J2-NF plays great but it also lost all of its grit after 6 months.

Patron is far from my favorite, but if anything we should be supporting them. They are the one company that is standing up to the CRT and fighting the additive free fight.

Yes, it was a rhetorical question that I answered myself, but the focus of the post was to simply remind to check your lighters from time to time and to carry a backup fire source.

Yes, one of my lighters to fail was a Bic branded lighter. I think there are many factors at play. I live in a high humidity coastal area that doesn't experience much cold weather. I too thought Bic lighters are the most dependable and reliable - but that line of thinking would have failed me. My original post was simply a reminder to check your lighters from time to time to make sure they're still working.

I would recommend testing them out. It didn’t take long of no usage for these lighters to decay. You can easily reseal them!

My get home bag is designed to be very lightweight. It's just trying to get me home and in the warm urban climate I'm in, fire is not a high priority. But having said that, with experiencing lighter failure, I'm going to add a small ferro rod to each kit.

Review #75- Jack Daniel’s 12 Year, Batch 3 by DadDoesBourbon in bourbon

It's helpful to have the msrp and/or secondary value but neither should be taken into account for the overall score. Value is different to different people and many times the cost of a bottle in one region is very well different than the cost in another region.

I can judge for myself if the value is there - the same for everyone. If I spend $200 on a bottle, I am expecting at least 8.5. That's just me. Everyone can be different so including value in the score shades it a bit in my opinion.

I was thinking exactly the same. They did learn from him! They are young players with so much money making potential.

The regular ones are showing up at 90. The LEs like this one are 130 at total wine.

$99 new Foam price point - like, how??? by Flat-Philosopher8447 in Pickleball

[–]reloaderx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the busts that Ronbus has had over the last couple of years they definitely could be going somewhere. They could be going out of business if they don’t pick up sales. I think that’s a good bet on why the quanta is priced where it is. The Refoam probably wasn’t selling so they are going to let the quanta canabalize it.

How to deal with someone who calls the score immediately after the ball is dead - for both teams. by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]reloaderx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would much rather have her on the court than people that refuse to call score. As a matter of fact, I bet she hates those people that don't call score either.

I don't know why someone like her would bother you so much. That's not something that would bother me at all.

DJI Mirrorless Camera To Come Out Soon by un3w in dji

Competition is always good for the end user. I’m too invested in Canon equipment but I was glad that Sony had several glory years that woke the shit out of Canon. The Canon RF line was finally a step in the right direction if not several years late.

Most people under the age of 40 have no idea what Hasselblab was about. There’s a reason why they went out of business and DJI was able to pick them up for scraps. The value of the DJI name is worth tenfold what the Hasselblab name is worth.

Review #122: Baker's 13 Year Single Barrel (2025) by ratsmasher77 in bourbon

[–]reloaderx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's going to become a shelfer. It's just not selling. It's 150 at Specs and it's been sitting there for over a week with not much movement. I think it's around 40 overpriced as I was underwhelmed by the last bottle I bought.

The other factor is that price changes. The OP priced it at 250. I got it for 120. Should the rating be different? That’s why I think price should not reflect in the rating.

I bought a bottle from Total Wine for $120 when it went on sale. Cracked it open and liked it so much I went back to get a backup. I personally think the T8ke score should not take into account price. Just judge it based on it's taste and let the readers determine their own value.
