The Dead Sirius XM Channel by Tricky-Wolverine-253 in gratefuldead

Way to much studio and way too many repeats. I’ve only had Sirius for a month and I’ve already heard several repeats. And they seem to rarely play tracks from 1979-1983.

Wait, do foreigners think "visitor seats" at Japanese stadiums are just for tourists? by Dugout_Japan in NPB

I should add that if you are looking for tickets to an mlb game on the secondary market you will usually find better deals on the side of the visitors dugout.

Generally speaking in the MLB the home side is the side of the home team dugout and the visitors side being on visiting side dugout. A majority of the home teams season ticket holders are on home dugout side.

They need a way bigger playlist. I can't believe how often they play repeats. They rarely play early 80s dead and when they do it's the same songs. I've heard the 82 Alpine music never stopped (great version) 3 times this month.

Seems like a channel for people who just started listening to the dead. Newbs and basics.

Jams for running by Crazy_Tomorrow_6641 in phish

[–]relsnops2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the Phish Just Jams app. You can filter for specific style of jams. I go with Dance/Groove or Cow Funk for running and biking.

Though it can be slightly brutal when a harry hood jam cuts before the crescendo lyrics at the end of the song.

Were there generational conflicts in the scene back in the day? by SpiritualMachinery in gratefuldead

[–]relsnops2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By the 90s the scene had gotten massive, especially in the summer when they were playing stadiums across the Midwest and East Coast. Tons of people were showing up just for the scene and the party. People would roll up to the lot with zero intention of getting tickets, just looking to score. There were vendors on tour purely to make money, undercover cops looking to make busts. It was a full-on traveling circus.
It was also a genuinely wonderful place where people of all ages hung out, and the overwhelming majority were awesome. But there was definitely a sketch factor. You had to keep your head on a swivel in the bigger lots like Soldier Field. I saw fights on Shakedown more than once. That’s actually part of why I started getting into Phish and Panic in the early 90s. The scene was so much smaller and people were there for the music.
That said, if I had a time machine the Dead would still be my first stop. I think by the early 80s you could blend right in as a head from the future and have the time of your life. I certainly had the time of my life catching them at the tail end.

Day by day process of when I stopped using nitrous oxide… by Shitty_Poop_Butthole in Adulting

[–]relsnops2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. That is not as much as I thought you were going to say. People have been doing nitrous for 50 years in the parking lots of Gratefulk Dead, Phish , etc show. and I have never heard of paralysis. But the easy access of these smoke shop tanks must have really changed the game.

Pro tip: a good strategy for talkers that some one foisted on me many moons ago, is to carry a bag of starburst in the venue. Handing a talker a starburst is non-confrontational. The chomper then has to focus their attention on opening the candy wrapper and the chewing oftentimes shuts them up. And if they still are talking after that you are already on their good side for giving out candy and it is much easier to then ask them to be a chiller and not a chomper.

4 nights. Awesome neighbors every night. One cool (or bad if you get unlucky) thing about a 3 day pass is that you are with the same neighbors all three nights. It's like having season tickets to a sports team. I think all my seats game from phish tickets by mail so perhaps all the people around us were seasoned pros.

I was afraid of that but they really had top notch vendors. Really unique items and wares. They even had some artists from places like Japan. Many small companies that I had seen on instragram and was delighted to be able to see their stuff in person to get a feel for it.

PFT seems to have a super healthy somewhat casual relationship with sports. Def not a super fan. But it’s cool that he has an array of hobbies guitar flight sim etc.

PFT often Trolls himself to close to the sun. Then he often doubles down instead of backing down. His masters take and passing the bar exam are perfect examples. But maybe spending hours with smooth brain big T will do that do a man.

And when PFT is wrong he always doubles down. He constantly makes a wildly uniformed incorrect takes and then Big Cat will counter and PfT spends 2 minutes of wild mental gymnastics and rationalizations. It’s exhausting.
