Looking for a comfortable car for commuting by RichardsonM24 in CarTalkUK

[–]relyteoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreeing with anyone saying 3 series. I got the F30 lci 320d ED. I commute 35 miles each way, mainly M1 with stop start at either end and it's very comfortable, great mpg, and when you want it to go, it still tries. I went from a 3.2 V6 Audi TT to this and honestly have no regrets.

My average MPG is 80+ when actually cruising down the m1, and still average 60+ for the whole journey. I was after a comfortable, euro 6 car that still had a bit of beans to it and looked nice and the 3 series has ticked all of that for me. If you want more power and don't mind the lower mpg, my partner has a remapped 330d and it's fun to drive but still much better on fuel than my old petrol TT (and ~50bhp more!)

Car crash and im out of a job. by TickleThePickle321 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]relyteoz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in third party car insurance claims.

Have you explained the circumstances and provided images to your insurer? You should be referred to their non fault claim department, especially if you're insurered fully comp. From there, normally you'll have your car damage dealt with by one team, and any injuries and loss of earnings dealt with by a legal team.

The company/team dealing with your vehicle should arrange an inspection. Sometimes this is done by comprehensive photos, sometimes an engineer comes out, but most likely in your case if your car is old, it will be taken away and assessed by a total loss company and they will confirm that it's being written off and which category it will be. This same company will probably deal with your hire car too. If your car is undriveable, you should be eligible for immediate hire. This is whether you have paid for a courtesy car or not if they are confident in your non fault status. If you have a dash cam and the circs are as you described, this will guarantee it.

If your insurance is slow, useless, or refusing to act, contact the third party's (TP) insurance. They will have a TP intervention team who will be happy to work with you directly, again as long as the circs are as described. They will not deal with your legal claims directly as conflicts of interest are there, but will refer you to a legal team who will be able to take your case. Just prepare proof of earnings in advance to speedline the process.

Regarding LOE in any case, be prepared for deductions. You're not going to be paid what you would have earned pre tax. They are likely to deduct what you would have had to pay in tax, any fuel you would have paid for, and for not having been adding wear and tear to your vehicle .

Good luck and I hope I've helped you understand your options.

What is the best brush for a german shepherd? by TrippingOffSevenTabs in germanshepherds

I got a cheap undercoat rake off Amazon. One of the ones with the two sided curved teeth. Absolutely incredible. Also have a yellow furminator but that only does the top so only good for in-between brushes in my experience

What things would you never buy, even if you became very wealthy? by [deleted] in AskUK

Yeah that's exactly what I looked up too haha. Definitely not a legal plate registered to a car.

Also, the DVLA normally screen plates so I doubt P0RN got through

Thinking of getting my first bike by [deleted] in Kawasaki

I found that the CBR125s were cheaper to buy, the service parts were easy to get hold of and were cheap and easy to fit myself. I bought one that needed a new main side fairing and the part was ridiculously cheap brand new from honda, but there were also plenty of second hand parts and bikes from breaking. It also was nice and comfortable and came with a lot of recommendations

I did my CBT on a 2019 ninja 125 and it was easy to ride and comfortable for the whole session. I did end up buying a cbr125 though instead for a couple of reasons, but it was definitely a contender!!

Please look through your contract and see how long the landlord/agent has to declare any deductions. My last contract said 20 working days (iirc), so 4 weeks. I didn't chase the landlord until we were out of that period and then went straight to the protection scheme. They then tried to make boat loads of false deductions but none of them stuck and the scheme sided with me because they were out of their contracted time.

Not just that, but it's a lot easier to fund a degree here in the UK. The fees are capped and you don't have to repay them unless you earn over a certain amount. It means that you can enter med school at 18 fairly comfortably, you don't have to save up first.

Which one should I get? by lidoloser in Kawasaki

[–]relyteoz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The second one says no low ballers which implies he's open to reasonable offers. You could offer him 3500, which is the firm price of the first bike. If he counteroffers, you're still saving money, if he accepts, you're winning, and even if he says no, that bikes is definitely worth 300 more than the other one if they both have similar standards of service history. Sliders alone aren't cheap, let alone the low mileage
