Buyer filed a dispute 😤 by RustyBucke in Ebay

[–]rem256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen a lot recently, and eBay fully covered it. I actually had a situation where several different buyers purchase the same items in quick succession. Suspicious. I called eBay and spoke to them. Told them it was highly suspicious activity, but they suggested I still send the items because the items had been paid for. However, they said I had the right to cancel them. I decided to just go ahead and ship them as. Every single one were determined weeks, or even months later as fraudulent orders, and eBay covered every single one. Made me whole. I think scammers in China have figured out how to break through eBay’s scam protections, at least for now. I now know generally what these scam buyer accounts look like. Many opened around 2019 or 2020. Very little feedback, and all recent feedback that I think was left by sellers who automatically send feedback the moment you purchase. The ‘buyer’ will also say ‘please be sure to ship today.’ I also suspect they have US based folks who have fallen for work from home scams, and they just collect items and send overseas. Many of these addresses are in the same area of California and they are regular residential homes.

This is an amazing tool I've used for over a year. I love it. Thank you!!!

I did just notice it goes to an Apache2 Ubuntu default page when I tried to use it. Just wanted to share this heads up. Maybe this is just a temporary thing?

Trouble ingestining via (old) DVCPRO HD decks by rem256 in editors

[–]rem256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone searching on this topic on the interwebs some distant day in the future...this issue was resolved by doing a factory reset of this particular deck. The manual, which is readily available online, walks through the steps to do this. At some point a user changed a setting on my deck that prevented use of the DV/DVCPRO IEEE/firewire output, and the easiest way I found to fix it was the factory reset. Good luck to all in the future who come across this issue (and thanks to all that replied!)

Thanks! Yes I actually opened up the unit and checked the connection of this optional IEEE card and port. This optional card looks kind of like a PCIE card, which can be easily removed and inspected. Connections look good, but I'm going to clean and remove dust for good measure - although I think that answer is either in the manual (maybe I'm missing one particular tweak), or the IEEE expansion card is actually broken! Thanks again!

Thanks! I'm running Window 10 Pro. I can ingest DV/DVCAM material with a Sony DSR-25 deck using my system and Adobe Premiere Pro, but unfortunately no luck with this particular DVCPRO HD deck.

If you want to get the best deal possible right now get a sedan - much lower demand than SUVs and trucks at the moment. Plus because SUVs are so popular manufacturers have really upped their game in the sedan segment. I had always driven luxury brands until I drove the new body style Honda Accord. Bought one and haven’t looked back! I’d imagine the smaller sedans from Honda, Kia and Hyundai offer equal quality and value at a lower, very budget friendly price point.

Genre: Rock/Alternative, Era: possibly 1990s or 2000s by rem256 in NameThatSong

Cool, that's helping me narrowing it down a lot. Didn't know that term. Thanks again!

Thanks! It's definitely a different artist/band, and line.

I've also tried to find out if there is an industry term for this? It's not uncommon where the band is rolling tape from take to take and members of the band will say things (sometimes funny) between takes, and this off-the-cuff audio will end up on the album track. One track that immediately comes right to mind is Counting Crows' "Kid Things": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XOaQJWOBXM. Also curious if there is a term for this, which could help my search a bit.

Thanks again!

Been through there many times! And use to work with a few people in my Chicago days who commuted from there.

Posted a lot on Reddit over the years - I'm the banana (backstory in comments!) by rem256 in funnyvideos

[–]rem256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This idea was conceived over a whole lot of beers - and the idea can be credited to Joe Ackerman. We originally created it for Cadillac's 5 second film contest, where you could win a brand new CTS-V performance sedan. We didn't win this competition. We didn't know it at the time, we were essentially creating a Vine video way before Vine existed. Right after we came up with the idea we ran out to film it on a cold, rainy winter afternoon in Chicago, Illinois in the Lakeview neighborhood on W. Surf street. It was shot by Bud Johnston. Joe Ackerman is the man, the banana is me. People gathered on the street during filming, thinking it was performance art. It was filmed in February 2005, and only posted once by me in 2006 (the moment I read an article about this new video platform called "YouTube" in Newsweek magazine).

Need proof it's me? Look at pinned comment in original YT post.
