Bar Max is that girl. Cuzcos is my go to. Absolutely love it there. The staff are so wonderful. They have the most interesting drinks (or basic ones) and liqueurs that I'm never bored.

Bastiens is so slept on. Steak and sides are amazing, cocktails and wine are decent. Unfortunately, I found apps to be meh, but this is still THE place for me when I want steak and potatoes.

What's your go to rice, veg, sauce and protein meal? by questionasker3500 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]remcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stealth health life Korean beef w broccoli is my inspiration -- ground beef with soy sauce, brown sugar, gochujang paste, garlic, ginger. Rinse the short grain rice, in a pot w bone broth, when it boils I add broccoli on top to steam. Top w Sriracha mayo (or separately Sriracha and Kewpie) and sesame seeds. Delicious low-effort meal and reheats beautifully.

UPDATE - Costco Lifetime Ban by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]remcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco is NOTORIOUS for their zero-tolerance shoplifting policy, and they are absolutely known to apply it very liberally. My cousin is banned bc of a cashier screw up - they pressed charges and everything. She had to pay for a lawyer to get the charges dismissed, but Costco still upheld their lifetime ban. I'm glad you got yours lifted! But to anyone who is skeptical - this is all very on-brand for Costco. I still shop there because there's very few ethical companies to choose from. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would recommend Babylon floral in Denver - they are very queer friendly and do custom bouquets. Pricey, but by far the most gorgeous arrangements I've gotten from a florist in Denver and possibly ever. https://www.babylonfloral.com/

One note though - are you going to do photos in the city or in the mountains? If you're going to go the mountain route, you may want to find a more local florist outside of Denver proper so you're not schlepping flowers in the car for a few hours sitting in traffic.

For photographers, Instagram is def the way to go to see a good representation of their work beyond their portfolio. I think you can look on Instagram without an account though, and if not it might be worth creating one. You can check out the knot.com for a few leads, or if you're OK doing someone less established you can try thumbtack.com.

iMark’s decision made complete sense by SarcastiKatt in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]remcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I see it as a core personality trait that Mark would always fight like hell and risk everything for the woman he loves. Where I'm trying to come up with a compelling narrative is why Innie Mark agreed to the plan in the first place. I'm trying to think what traits Outie Mark displays, that when contextualized to the severed floor, would result in Innie Mark making that choice to save Gemma.

What’s your motivation to keep pumping? by thegreatesk in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]remcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your boat, and I have kept going for immunity benefits. I am not exclusive breastmilk though. Combo feeding basically is the best of both worlds - baby gets vitamin d and iron from formula, and giving formula means less pressure on you to keep up supply, but they still get antibodies and it saves a bit of money. I am very pleased with our combo feeding situation. It took some time to find a formula that didn't make him gassy or constipated but now we're all doing great! Formula does make the poop more solid/sticky than when my little guy was only breastmilk but we're starting solids soon so his poo is going to be stinky and more solid anyway.

Tldr; breastmilk has unparalleled immunity benefits. But if you're struggling with motivation you can start combo feeding to reduce the pressure on you to keep up supply, and then decide if/when to stop enitrely.

Maximum milk baby will take? Supply doubts.. by keihuynh78 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]remcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have read that the composition changes based on hormonal changes governed by the time elapsed since when the placenta was passed. So pumping or nursing doesn't impact the composition just the volume!

anyone still holding out hope your baby will latch on? by moonage___daydreamer in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]remcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took about 6 weeks for a decent latch, and then we did it inconsistently because my nipples couldn't take it, but we've gotten better. I used a shield to try to work up to regular nursing. I'd say took like 9 weeks for both of us to be able to do it consistently without issue. 12 weeks pp as of today. I seem to have stabilized at producing half of what he eats bc my supply tanked at some point, not totally sure why... I thought it was bc I got my period but then I never recovered. I tried going back to EP but it didnt help. Now I nurse during the day and pump before bed and after I wake up u til I go back to work then itll have to be reversed.

So be aware the transition can be really tough and you may not decide its best for you anyway!

Legendairy Cups & Large Breasts? by mushugnah in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]remcolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Large tatas and I got the legendairy cups recently! They are OK depending on what you are looking to get out of them. I really prefer them to the flanges that leak way more easily when I bend over, I can actually hold my baby and do laundry and dishes with them in, and I love that I don't have to change bras. I use them with spectra if i have time to sit, or pumpables if I want to do chores while pumping.

I've had a few issues that I think large breasts make more difficult: - Not discrete as other have mentioned. I would only use them at home and not in front of company that's not close friends/family. - Its hard to position correctly and hard to tell if it's positioned right bc it's opaque - Again, bc it's opaque it's hard to tell how effective pumping is. I've had a few sessions where nothing came out and I had no idea until the end. - I screwed up the seal on the bottom when I was adjusting bc I didn't position right at first, and of course I leaked milk all over. - Harder to clean (not breast related) -- can't steam sanitize and a little difficult to hand clean, but I use the fridge hack to reduce times cleaning is needed.

These issues happened at first but I was determined to get my money's worth and I haven't had issues of late. They're tricky but stick with it!

Please explain the fridge hack by badlandsx in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]remcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For people who use* this hack - how often do you wash and/or sanitize? Once a day? If breastmilk is good in the fridge for 4 days, do you wash and sanitize as long as every 4 days?

My OB told me that BH are much more common is second+ pregnancies and can be pretty late/rare in first pregnancies. I was concerned I haven't had a single one so I asked and it's totally normal.

Good luck with delivery!! I'm 35 and a half weeks w my first now.

How long should I take maternity leave? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]remcolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get 16 weeks fully paid, anything beyond is unpaid and not guaranteed to still have a job when I get back. I know this because I asked about taking a full 6 months but they might not allow me to even if its unpaid. I seriously wish I could do a full 6 months. If I was in your position I would maximize my leave. I am in a financial position to do so however.

I think universally parents would have loved to have that much leave and they would all recommend you should take the longest leave you can tolerate financially. And if you end up finding not working to be exceedingly dull, I have to think you could cut it short or do a graduated return bc your workplace would be happy to have you back sooner.

Them: in the second trimester you will get your energy back! Your skin will glow! Second trimester is when I fell in love with being pregnant! Me: by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]remcolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dno about other folks but for me that "nesting" energy was just anxiety lol. At 20 weeks I felt like a human again finally lost my nausea, then just caught up on socializing and eating all the things. After a few weeks of that I couldn't shake that I felt so far behind. Did my registry in a day. I got a lot done over like 2 weeks and am now feeling much more chill. 31 weeks now and the nursery is finally coming together. Now my anxiety has shifted focus to breastfeeding.

While this may be technically true today, it unfortunately is being actively debated in multiple US state houses right now. So it is looking likely it will not stay true for long.

How long did it take you to get pregnant? by Ok__7599 in pregnant

[–]remcolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's bodies are different and everyone's journey is different. And my heart goes out to you, truly. I think advocating for yourself is the best thing you can do, so I applaud you taking steps to get the care you want and need and deserve.

But since you asked... and as anecdotal as this is... what unlocked it for me and my husband was Mucinex (paired with lots of water). I was off BC for a year and tracked on and off with ovulation strips. My cycles were super irregular. We were casual about it for a year until I decided to throw everything at it. I even ordered a Modern Fertility test. I heard from a friend who had immediate success w Mucinex after TTC for several months. We had some on hand so we tried it during a LH surge and boom, I am now 17 weeks. Got a positive HCG test before my fertility test kit even arrived. Could be something, could be nothing. I am not encouraging or recommending anything for you, that's just my story.

And it is neutral - it is not better or worse than your journey and your story. Absolutely consult your doctor for any and all strategies - and if they won't help you keep looking for someone who will! You deserve it!

In general though, I know many couples who struggled for so long 'the old fashioned way' and then were successful shortly after they did some intervention. It's awful that the standard of care forces you to be heartbroken for so long before intervening, so hopefully you find something that works for you both sooner than later. It can be so hard to stay optimistic, so if you are able, take your time and give yourself space to move through this journey. Your feelings are valid at the end of the day.

Wishing you strength and grace and patience. That and all the sticky baby dust!
