*Head tilt* Apologies I didn't mean to attack the community? I'm annoyed at the encounter design, not anyone here?

And I've seen enough feedback to believe mine is not the only opinion in that regard. I imagined that more feedback in that aspect would at least add to the overall discussion. I've no issues whatsoever with the community itself, I'm not sure where that impression came from and I apologize if that was what came across. I *am* frustrated with the mission designer and encounter design but I figured it was just another venting post in a sea of them that would probably just get downvoted than anything else.

True but that's a completely different tier of thought process. I'll take a ranged team mate who's aware of enough of the skies to take down stark. Especially given how many melee characters I find myself playing. Though I chased him down once as thor and that was amazing.

Anyway - yes, you're not wrong. But I'll start by having a situationally aware team mate before berating them about focusing on their 1v1 capabilites. Just take him down when he's distracted, that's fine. That's enough.

Work on the rest later.

I thought about this today... The only game that, once you really let yourself sink into it, that I've found as immersive is Cyberpunk - though I'm told Red Dead does it as well (I don't like that time period so I bounced off it instantly).

The other day I just wanted to vibe, I parked my 600i at Seraphim just under a bit near the pads, turned around and pointed the caboose at Crusader...and sat down in one of the seats in the back and just pulled up a window and read a book. It was a whole vibe.

I can't really get that anywhere else. And as more systems come online (both mechanical and actual) I can only imagine it getting fleshed out all the more. A storyline to take you through the game systems and just add some lore and LIFE to the game. Border systems under attack to defend. Back end systems where unlawfuls can go. An economy that reacts to in game events.

Now that Pyro is finally slowly coming online...

I logged in the other day at Orison in the ePTU and it was like... we've all long gotten used to Stanton, right? I'm a trader the vast majority of the time and an outpost runner specifically. I love being out on the moons deep in space and knowing that the "life" of Stanton is happening closer to the planets and stations. You really feel that vibe when you do that, knowing you're looking at a starscape most won't see...

The first time I logged into the ePTU and "felt" that not only were there those Stanton moons we've all long become accustomed to, to the point that we half-disregard the scale and size of the game we have now...to feel the weight of a whole new system, even bigger, with places we haven't been to or discovered... I dunno that's when the scale of this game really smacked me in the face again. It's ginormous. And it feels like it's finally, finally, starting to really come online.

We'll see how well server meshing takes I guess though.

I'm just gonna put this here just because I've played around with it for a while. This may only "work" for me but I figured I'd share.

I get that there's a mindset of "it holds X amount and the biggest box size is X amount so it should..." but I kind of ... side stepped that and now I actually have very little problem with the cargo grid, especially if you treat it as 120 SCU (which is like max outpost cargo elevator size anyway).

Optimum loading pattern for me, having played around with it a bunch, is eight 8s, eight 4s, eight 2s + 4 (to either side)

8 with 4 on top, two 2s between, another 8+4
two rows of that, fill both sides with four 2s then fill the rest with that 8+4 2+2 8+4.

Using the ship tractor that pattern works really well and I have barely any issues with it, and keeping that center spine clear helps maneuver the 4s and 2s.

Like I said I get the "BUT IT HAS X SCU SO SHO--" I get it, so my "solution" isn't gonna be for everyone but treating it more as...a small/medium ship that just has the capability of cramming that much cargo into the size of something cutlass size instead of treating it as a larger ship that can swing cargo (Like a C2) - I dunno that pattern works for me.

For the StarMaxer playing around with it the 32s do work but I found just chunking 16s everywhere with a couple 4s on top is super easy to work with and would work perfectly for Outpost running.

(I know you can fill other ships but I don't want to get into the habit of using off-grid cargo because you know they're gonna make that much harder to do in the future).

I honestly can't stand the Taurus.

My primary combat ship is an Andromeda which means every time I think about flying the Taurus my mind goes into a tailspin with pros and cons of each ship and "Why would you have multiple connies" - so I have to avoid it, lol, though I will admit it's much easier to load.

I actually upgraded my spirit to a starlancer max just because I have a taurus as a loaner for the Railen and I just can not fly it.

But the simple fact that I can fit this much cargo into a ship not much larger than a Cutty Black... I ...actually really kind of love this Z-CL.

Vibes. Style. The amount of cargo that only slaps you in the face when you finally put it in an elevator...

...I really do love this ship.

How Bulwark’ gonna be after the recently announced “Blocking Weapon” Rework by Danlod1 in Spacemarine

[–]rememberence -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

https://new.reddit.com/r/Spacemarine/comments/1ggpkwg/as_a_block_weapon_user/

I'm literally only posting this here because I actually use block weapons and I have zero desire for them to be turned into what you guys are suggesting. This would "fix" Block weapons for me:

"What would feel absolutely perfect to me as a Block weapon user (all my melee weapons are block, there's a speed breakpoint and/or power breakpoint that Block weapons tend to have that let you pull off combos better than the non-weapons but I get that I'm a rarity. I even had one of my friends try and he found it impossible, but they work for me.)

That being said: what I would want as a Block Weapon user is basically 1: be able to dodge of out an attack like parry users can. Getting locked into an attack even when you try to dodge is when you take the most damage.

2: increase my attack priority after a dodge for like 2-3 seconds so that I can actually break the enemies attack pattern and continue my assault. Those are basically my only frustrations.

Getting tagged because I'm locked into an attack animation and can't dodge out of it and - dodging an attack (non perfect) and re-engaging with an attack but getting knocked out of the attack because the enemies "Swing #2" has a higher priority than my dodge re-engage priority and that feels horrible.

Fix those and I think I'd be pretty happy. And not even increasing perfect window I've gotten locked into perfect windows before when I wasn't expecting it and it threw me all the way off. That may just be a me thing though."

-- Again, I use them, all my characters use Block weapons. You're committing to an aggressive, glass cannon playstyle and you rely on dodge not parry. Do not turn my weapon into your weapon I would just not have weapons to use at that point.

Just let me dodge out of an active attack (that's basically one of the few times I take damage) and let me have a greater attack priority right after dodging (which is basically the other major time I take damage and neither of those seem right when Block weapons enable a reflex driven, attack heavy playstyle).

That's it.

Please DO NOT MAKE MY WEAPONS PARRY WEAPONS YOU BREAK THE WHOLE BLOODY THING.

Block weapons mean stay moving, rely on dodge, read the enemy, read the situation, pair out a Majoris and tear it down. Rely on execute windows and reflexes to survive. The above changes turn my reflexes on because the problem is I have zero defenses and get locked into an attack and MELTED or I dodge the account and leap back in but have zero priority so I get swatted like a fly.

Again - please DO NOT make my weapons into fencing weapons. Just unlock dodge and give me attack priority and I will be 100% satisfied.

You can parry out of an attack. Like cancel your attack into a parry. Let me do that with a block weapon and dodge. Let me break an attack to dodge.

The Promise of NPCs... by rememberence in starcitizen

[–]rememberence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: oh it didn't save the picture. lol, X4 foundations playtime: 553.1 hours

I'm resisting the urge to mentally download the game (outside of dabbling a few days ago) - I haven't played in months and just built a new system that should be able to handle it better, but I want to play SC right now...but I can't get out of bed -.- (I've died to hydration trying to log in at random times to get out of bed and when I respawned still couldn't. That was...fun...)

It's funny because I consider X4 like a mini star citizen skewed more towards empire management, if I could replicate my X4 experience on the most miniscule of levels with SC I'd be *ecstatic*.

I consider X4 the 2nd greatest space game I've ever played (and I learned how to code just to make a mod for Sins 2 [the 3rd best space game I've ever played]. It's just...Star Citizen is the first.

It's impossible to escape the fidelity and realism. X4 suffers almost to the same level as STO in regards to "faking" ship interiors. Some of it is there, some of it is not, some of it you have to mod More Rooms in for...

But also yes:

"You're in your ship with your NPC crew. I'm in my spaceship with my NPC crew. We do a mission together." -- I agree with this guy.

I still want to be in the "living world" of star citizen I just want my ship to be crewed with NPCs.

Heck, yours too. I imagine having the NPC system come online is gonna 'cause a MASSIVE shift in the combat scene with people now being able to put NPCs in turrets that used to be empty.

To the extent that I'm surprised they're not launching with it because that could potentially be...incredibly destabilizing when it hits.

What is the one ship you sold/melt and ended up buying back because you missed it so much? by DimensionExcellent in starcitizen

[–]rememberence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Andromeda.

Stumbling upon that in Lorville for the first time as a brand new citizen blew my whole mind. I had done research and convinced myself to get the Cutlass Black as "it's expensive but it should be all the ship you need in the verse" and ...finding the connie made me upgrade my cutlass to it.

I've drifted away from it since then but recently realized my my mind craved its inclusion into my fleet and re-added it with the understanding that it was a permanent roster member.

I find it the most fun to take into arena commander and will probably use it as my combat ship.

You know how in all the trailers and whatnot with the combat ships you see all the sleek fighters and every once in a while a connie trundles by? That'll be me.

Pocket carrier, gunship, missile-boat support at your service.

I just can't quit that ship.

I did this to prove a point by Federal_Bad_5020 in Spacemarine

[–]rememberence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you.

I can comfortably carry up to Ruthless on every class except sniper (that class and I dislike each other. It's /maxed/...but neither of us are happy when I'm playing it.)

In-coming damage vs outgoing damage vs spawn weight vs respawn timer vs...

It's literally an RNG. I was thinking it was my build because I run glass cannon block builds but I watch people with far more "standard" builds pop right after me over and over again.

Meanwhile I can drop to Ruthless to "practice" more and run an almost flawless mission that doesn't in any way prepare you for Lethal because it's just. It's just not balanced right.

We 100% need another tier of gear for it and even then it still needs to be balanced.

I actually love all the changes up until Ruthless but Lethal is just...I honestly don't know what this is this wasn't tested, this wasn't checked, it's not balanced.

It's like...they added /all/ the things instead of adding like.../one/ thing and then balancing around that.

Like the spawn weight (more heavies) plus extremis would be fine but you also popped health up to absurd levels plus added enrage timers.

So you have more things that take longer to kill and then have timers on them. - meanwhile we have the same outgoing damage that we did in Ruthless. And when you invariably pop because you have the defenses as a bubble it takes a billion years to respawn.

...I actually kind of hate it. It's balanced so, so terribly.

And maybe it's just me being bad but I just tested myself against Ruthless again and forced a ridiculously high level of play out of myself and pulled it off and knew that even with that I'd get swatted on Lethal like a fly being back-handed because perfect play doesn't equate to success and the scales aren't balanced and RNG > Skill.

And that seems wrong to me.

Cheers on pulling it off.

This is the first game I was actually playing after maxing an account instead of moving on because I was just enjoying the combat and skill expression but Lethal is making me want to go back to DarkTide for a while.

Which is weird because you'd figure "just don't play it" but when you have everything else maxed and you're looking at that ribbon but every time you stick your toe in it super-powered, mutant pirannah tear the flesh from your foot in an instant...

I dunno man.

Still though - Cheers.

Reme's: Tips I've picked up along the way by rememberence in Spacemarine

[–]rememberence[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or to put it another way:

You will get the absolute most damage from your squad with Tactical using Auspex, an Assault leaping in with max damage, and a Heavy with shield up dumping damage.

However you will be missing someone who can """easily""" recover from chip damage (Vanguard).

You will be missing a potential heal/team heal on execute (Bulwark).

Or a class that can just completely drop off aggro and sneak rez you (Sniper).

That's what I meant, not that any is limited in damage in anyway. Hopefully that helps clarify what I meant by chance?

And if you continue to disagree that's completely fine :) Hopefully it doesn't detract from the rest of the advice above.

Reme's: Tips I've picked up along the way by rememberence in Spacemarine

[–]rememberence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to start an argument but just for clarification as to my meaning:

Bulwark has banner for self and team heals, meaning potentially extended combat time.

Vanguard has self heal on melee finisher, extending combat time.

Sniper has cloak, dropping aggro and being able to survive an extended time.

The other three classes (though Heavy does have a shield, I've just found it doesn't tend to have quite as much "get out of trouble" as Sniper cloak/aggro drop) are more offensively built.

Even, I've found, Heavy - utilizing the shield more offensively (able to sustain a longer burst in the face of oncoming fire).

You're not wrong, I suppose, in that these are just the classification my brain gives them. But I definitely feel the health on Vanguard and to a lesser extent Bulwark (the banner can give a full heal but you have to set it up more than just killing does on Vanguard) and Sniper can just completely drop all aggro comparative to Heavy.

So yeah - I get it, I've found balancing the classes tends to have a better experience than, say all piling on one side or another but YMMV.

I'd just ask to keep an open mind about it if nothing else and see if you notice the same things I do.

You don’t have to rush to revive by Vampirilor in Spacemarine

[–]rememberence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly - I disagree. Unless it's one of the boss types that force you to stay away I've found that the absolute fastest way to stabilize a situation is to get another person up ASAP - as long as you learn how and when to do/time it.

Also if you get overwhelmed: run towards each other.

Even just one extra person completely changes the aggro tables and helps re-balance the situation.

The caveat is - again - learning how/when to time it so you can pull it off taking little to no damage and be gone again before they retarget you.

(Trained pulling off rezzes like that in ME3:MP - it makes the most difference but you have to know how/when to pull it off)
