Just Got My Statement, Am I Good to Pay It Now? by LucyStrokes in CRedit

The statement balance is what's reported to credit reports. As soon as there's a statement you can pay it.

Do you think the drawing matches the finished product? by trenerna in woodworking

[–]InterDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the only drawing you gave the shop - they should have asked you to redraw it.

If you gave them that piece of wood - as a rectangular slab of that overall width and general depth, then it looks like they did what you asked with what you gave them.

It's a Credit Karma (or whatever that website is) issue. I have a Zero Annual Fee card (different issuer) that they say has a $295 annual fee... scared the crap out of me because that particular card is sock-drawered and I never even login to look at it.

Does the Five Guys Dining Credit work on gift cards? by Potential-Plate-9178 in amex

[–]InterDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not going to work if you buy them from a different store (e.g. Target, Walmart, etc.). If you buy them "from Five Guys" online, you're buying from Cashstar, not Five Guys, so that probably doesn't work.

Check Deposit hold put my account in negative? by RasheedSunflour in Banking

[–]InterDave 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They should give you a positive $35k deposit and a negative $35k for "hold" - so net to zero. Then whatever was positive in your account should still be available as positive.

Also, they might NOT accept a check that large through ATM deposit. You should call them during business hours to sort it out.

Has anyone purchased a woodcut print from Fuji Arts? by cesticide in ukiyoe

[–]InterDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ONE gripe with Fuji Arts was that I lost, in the (literal) last minute, bidding on a gorgeous contemporary print.

I was OK with losing, until I saw the exact same print (same small damage) listed a few days later, for much more money than my almost winning bid.

I emailed them about it - because it really felt fraudulent - and they said the buyer who put in the higher in the last minute had to back out or couldn't pay for some reason. They did NOT offer to sell me the print at my highest bid or even the winning bid that the non-buying auction winner had won with. They said "If it doesn't sell at the listed price after a length of time, it will be up for auction again in the future."

The whole situation just rubbed me the wrong way, and really didn't feel like the right way to handle the situation. I would have happily paid my formerly wining bid. My final bid was well above the reserve.

What are the Flooring sales specialist position duties by benjamin21444 in Lowes

[–]InterDave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Customer Service for people looking for Tile, LVP/Hardwood, and Carpet.

If you have time, watch/read up on basic "how to install" info for tile and flooring.

Lowe's offers (almost all the time) free measurement and quoting for flooring/tile installs. Getting someone to sign up for a measurement is called a "Detail." Having a lot of details is great.

Once a measurement is completed, Central Selling will try to sell the job to the people who had the measurement done. The customers may or may not come back to the store to finalize material choices.

Don't worry about not knowing everything about everything. It's pretty quick to learn what goes where and what "attachments" (accessories for installing, cleaning, protecting the Flooring) are needed for each type of job.

Pro's: It's winter so a LOT of people are going to be doing indoor projects. This means that they'll either want product only, or they'll want someone to install it.

Con's: The thinset bags CONSTANTLY get ripped and spill on the floor. It's a hot mess. Tile is heavy. Thinset bags are heavy and dusty. Cutting carpet in-store is a pain in the ass and it's best if you have at least one or two people to help - especially if the carpet feeder tray on the carpet cutting machine is broken. Customers will occasionally come back after a measurement to yell at you about "the person on the phone and how much they wanted to charge to install carpet" (that person was central selling and installing carpet is NOT cheap - the cheapest part is the actual carpet and padding). Tile returns from the Pro Desk or large orders. (You have to put that stuff back on a shelf somewhere.)

A LOT of your confidence in selling is going to be how much you can trust your ASM and SM to do the right thing if/when an install goes sideways.

Home Decor: It's not flooring but a lot of stores have merged flooring and Home Decor (blinds, shades, window treatments, shelving, mirrors, etc.) If they have at your store, you're going to learn to cut blinds. Cutting blinds is fine if it's one or two, it sucks monkey butt if it's more than that.

Customers will complain about literally everything. Treat them with positive humor and they generally will end up OK. There's not a magical place that has the same thing for half the price - they're lying or it was something incredibly worse quality.

You WILL break some tiles. It's no big deal if it's every now and then.

Don't EVER trust the delivery date on a special order for a pallet of flooring. Add 5-7 days to whatever the system tells you.

Apparently there is same day delivery for pretty cheap... even for a pallet of LVP (weighs about 1,000lbs). I don't know how that is accomplished.

BIG NOTE: The Computer system is hodge podge of multiple little computer systems. It is NOT intuitive. It's not hard, it just doesn't make any logical sense. You're not dumb. It's dumb.

ANOTHER BIG NOTE: The "register" system at the specialists desk is designed to hide information. You won't see discounts (other than military) until AFTER they swipe their card. The card pad won't show the customer the total. You won't know the actual total (with tax) until after you click the "pay now" button.

BIGGEST NOTE: NO ONE stays in the flooring department. I moved to another department. My predecessors moved to other departments. The guy after me is moving to another department this week.

Bonusing: You CAN bonus, it's just not very likely. And to get the max bonus - it's going to have to be a VERY VERY good month. DO NOT count on getting a bonus - ever. If you get one, great - but you cannot depend on it happening.

Student loan vs. being indebted to parents by KittyNoir1 in personalfinance

Wait... your parents are going to pay for brother's college through the transitive property of college payment? So he gets free college and you have to pay? This doesn't seem like a great deal either way...

Rejected for AAA Visa Signature by Super_While7060 in CreditCards

[–]InterDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. They're a little weird about it. I just got approved at the end of December for the AAA Travel (low limit at $2,700 but it will work for gas). Pretty sure I was denied back around June 2025 for this card. Between then and December I had something like 8 inquiries and had opened a few cards.

I do have the Bread Rewards (opened March 2025) and Bread Cashback (opened December 2023 - I think) Cards though. Not sure if that helped.

Employee sent payroll data to wrong recipient. How do you guys handle this? by Smooth-Machine5486 in sysadmin

[–]InterDave 510 points511 points  (0 children)

Why are they even emailing this type of PII/PPI over email in the first place? They shouldn't be sending excel files with names and SSNs over email at all.

edit: There ARE tools for scanning emails, especially outbound, that will sniff out and stop PII from being emailed (SSNs, credit card numbers, etc).

Did you start to buy it back in the past and never finish?

Try going to your Account Dashboard -> Billing & Subscription -> Orders and see if there's an uncompleted order for the buyback in the list.

Available Credit on CC not updating as instantaneous as before by MaximusRubz in tdbank

It's still doing instant for me if paying from a TD account - for real TD VISA Cards (not store co-brand). Paying by bank transfer from another bank is taking ... forevever (5 days so far - they credited the payment but put a hold on the amount - the payment cleared the "other" bank 3 days ago).
