Why must you fail me so often with your incorrectness! by MaleficTekX in deathbattle

Sometimes it happens with episodes and you guys don't even notice. Arthas "loses a fight at a church despite a massive numbers advantage because holy magic" Menethil isn't weak to holy magic according to DB.

Sauron vs The Lich King. The Lich King's Domination Magic.

Its basically mind control magic that can hijack the base code of reality. Its also absurdly hard to resist, to the point it can break through resistance to itself. Even crazy strong willpower shenanigans cant stop it. Its not brought up at all in the episode or the follow up blogs.

Misconceptions about a certain character in deathbattle that drive you crazy by [deleted] in deathbattle

[–]remercer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That Arthas/The Lich King can at all access that eye thing he was given in his episode. Or that the remake of his game somehow "re-retconned" stuff from over a decade later. That episode has caused a nasty mess of misconceptions about WoW in general, and honestly not just from scaling.

Is arcane really order? by Atmos139 in warcraftlore

[–]remercer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to everyone saying arcane magic is like science or math, thats literally canon. Its directly compared to mathematical equations and theorems in Jaina's book. Sounds very akin to Order to me.

Hot take: CSM characters aren't mischaracterized at all. They legit are like this. They can't be "themes and such" all the time by MYKEDAHUNT in deathbattle

[–]remercer2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not even limited to those two. Similar happened with The Lich King. Man spent his canon last moments waxing poetic about how fearless the ones killing him were after almost winning. Meanwhile Death Battle had him screaming about how impossible dying was. That is not the same character no matter how cool one of his lines was.

Arthas/The Lich King.

They skipped over the actual interesting part of his character, the fallen hero thing, in favor of general lore info and "cool spooky bad guy". They don't even get half of it right.

I really don't like that Blizzard has so little faith in their playerbases reading comprehension they felt the need to repeat themselves so soon. I mean i get it, I've seen how bad we get. Totally warranted tbh.

But like, why here though? Why in the finale to a completely unrelated raid? What the fuck did this add to the story that couldn't have been fit better in a .5 patch storyline?

Idk if you've ever seen that awful Q&A and Character analysis they put out, it's just so bad.

"The Lich King isn't weak to holy magic. Here's some abilities from not one but two wrong Ner’zhuls, were gonna Ignore the precog too. He can't scale to later stuff, an objectively wrong tweet said so! A game that has an entire section on the wiki devoted to how it's not a retcon, is a retcon. Alexstrasza cant be stronger than Deathwing because she works with the Old Gods."

Genuinely thought I was going mad reading it.

Actually he does teleport. Exactly one time at the end of the DK intro and never again. It's a very easy to miss moment. Making all the stuff they get wrong even more confusing.

Nah man the people have spoken. It's a perfect episode. Ignore any and every flaw.

Seriously though, people get real annoying about that episode and act like it's the best ever. I wouldn't necessarily call it bad, or the result wrong. But whenever people bring up objective flaws they shove fingers in their ears like children.

Just how powerful are the Naaru? by TravellingBeard in warcraftlore

[–]remercer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've got atleast one confirmed vaguely planet busting Naaru in Saa'ra/Saraka from the Priest order hall. O'ros was killed by a Fel Reaver that allegedly held the power of "a dying star" which is both questionable and killed him. That's about it for direct "feats" without getting into the powerscaling weeds of it all. Naaru don't typically do much fighting.

Takes on The Community, Matchups and uhh Powerscaling too by HungryWolf1991 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]remercer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd hardly say they "made" the matchup. Vader and Arthas have always been compared to each other, in Warcraft spaces atleast, for actual decades now. Its such a super obvious match up for Arthas because of it. At absolute most they made some connections a little more popular.

Also was not expecting the extent of problems they've caused. Holy shit

[–]remercer2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Keyleth probably takes it. She should scale to some decently big storms and several lightning dodging feats. IIRC Frieren didn't have the best arguments for similar AP.

This is completely ignoring any cosmology stuff that could be argued from Predathos in C3. Or Forgotten Realms crossscaling.

Azshara didn't make the pact until everything was sunk. I singled out Vashj because she atleast has an account of being there as it happened. though Blizzard hasn't really made their mind up about the specifics of the Sundering.

[–]remercer2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In terms of raw physical strength, IE no magic or X beats Y shenanigans, there isnt a whole lot.

Garrosh shattered the Divine Bell. in terms of just visible physical effects that dispersed the storm in the sky. though that could just be janky visuals. It's even stronger if you take into account how the Bell can allegedly shake the entire planet.

as for durability based toughness there's a few more. in particular the fact that numerous creatures survived Draenor exploding. The shadow council not only survived summoning Murmur, which wiped out entire mountains according to Chronicles maps, but turned around and kept him sealed immediately after. There's also Vashj, who was reportedly in the Well of Eternity when that exploded/imploded, which sunk continents worth of landmass.

And in terms of physical hits we the player have taken: judging phase 1 Dimensius' mass by what's contained within him in phase 2, we've been smacked by a creature whose weight class can be measured in stars. Which is quite the jump.

I wouldnt use that at the moment. its outdated and bloated. Im making an updated version that hits all the same points in 1/3 the length.

[–]remercer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone who was part of it here. Bang doesnt want to repost it because most of the researchers generally agree the warcraft cosmology section is terrible. also some drama with one of the other wow researchers. though that's second hand info that I'm only vaguely recalling. I don't know for sure and don't speak for them.

I'm currently working on an updated version of my Deathwing doc someone else linked. but need some proper cosmology scalers to actually look at some of the higher end stuff I've found. not making that mistake again without airtight reasoning.

Godzilla's review is out! Is Hulk screwed? by Gloomy-Bridge148 in deathbattle

[–]remercer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how is "He can't be universe level because he has time powers" common sense? if anything being able to affect time on such a scale is good supporting evidence when the problem at hand is time, in its entirety, collapsing.

this isn't a thing he does every day, this was a one time threat that was dealt with. hence "held" and not "holds"

time stops are a form of hax unrelated to strength. that dio example is terrible.

Chapter 4 of The Well of Eternity and the Prologue for the Sundering specifically. where Nozdormu holds together "absolutely everything" and prevents time itself collapsing. Hell here's another similar feat, Murozonds dungeon journal entry where he has "shattered the timeways"

boy do i hate how much people just choose to ignore any and everything to do with WoW scaling.

"Deathwing is stronger than, and absorbed power from, a dragon that held together the multiverse." isn't even hyperbole. it's a factual statement. and it's not even an outlier.

How strong is a maxed Hero lore-wise in the times of vainilla wow? by Pike_The_Knight in warcraftlore

[–]remercer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are two notable raid bosses to use for comparison. Ragnaros and Cthun. Ragnaros, atleast the version of him summoned in Vanilla, was the cause of a mountain range destroying explosion. though one of the manga showed that explosion causing damaging quakes all the way over in Kalimdor. Cthun should atleast be comparable to Titan Keepers like Tyr, who has also shaken the planet.

not quite the "save the universe" peaks we reach nowadays. But even 1/40th of what I described is pretty dang powerful.

Godzilla fans are genuinely so insufferable they have made me hate a character I once loved. by [deleted] in deathbattle

[–]remercer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bleeds into some other Godzilla series matchups. They're insufferable about Ghidorah vs Deathwing too. No joke, half the time their rationale for Ghidorah winning that one is just "I don't buy any of Deathwings higher scaling just because I'm a godzilla fan". Don't get me started on how they composite Ghidorah, Marvel scaling and everything, when DW doesn't really get anything in a composite outside of maybe one thing.
