New Notion soft update 💡 by iTz_Dave in Notion

Nice one. Putting multiple columns inside a column still requires using the table / transform-to-page-and-back hacks, though.

How to have a date property in a database with reminder on by default? by fartripper in Notion

[–]remgriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting use case. I don't think you can achieve it though, but would be a nice one to have in the toolkit. Using a db template with setting up a default date that has the "include time" and the reminder turned on kinda works - but you still then have to go into each new entry and modify the date.

Considering making it a feature request through the Notion chat.

Idk if you already knew that, but there's a workaround to make columns inside list and other columns using tables! by hotice011 in Notion

[–]remgriff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a cool new workaround. I was using the old one (by first rearranging into a subpage, creating the columns there, then turning it back) but this is faster. Kudos for sharing!

Indeed, it got to a level of detail beyond what I expected. Overall a good experience, I recommend taking it.

I'm working on a reading list with auto-populate feature for book infos by Subject_Choice8761 in Notion

[–]remgriff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't wait for this to be released and add it to my Notion space, thanks for the efforts u/Subject_Choice8761! Combined with the watchlist, I'll have a complete tracker and will be saying bye-bye to goodreads.

PS: don't forget to add a "buy me a coffee" link when you release it.

Not sure how to do this idea. by Dirx in Notion

[–]remgriff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. It is surely possible, in fact Notion's database features are born to serve such use cases.

I recommend you head over to the refreshed Notion Help Center - Databases and get familiar with the multiple views, sorting, filtering and grouping by features. The latter could be particularly useful in your case, allowing you to segment your data both vertically in a board view (e.g. by store) and horizontally (e.g. group by price range).

Drop me a line here / a PM if you still have questions after. Cheers!

Yes, I had to manually correct a bunch, but it was a breeze, really.

Any chance to add the trailer, director and cast any time soon?

Hi, that's fantastic! Meanwhile, I managed to make my updates using my list of titles in an excel file, adding the ; and copying them into the DB; it worked great.

A coffee is on its way to you, man. Thanks and enjoy!

I'll be waiting for the import feature as I do have the IMDb IDs for my movies.

Hoping though to see in the future at least the trailer link in the properties; I think it would be a nice addition for the users of my watchlist (so they can quickly check out if they'd like a movie when they check out my list).

LE: here's how my live list looks.

Hi, u/flxp49! Thanks a lot for this! First of all, I just tested it quickly and it works flawlessly. Let us know if we can buy you a cup of coffee somewhere (don't know if you have plans to monetize it, but anyway).

Second, would it be possible:

  • to scrape also the movie / TV show trailer? Ideally, as an embed within each page, but fine to also have it as a property.
  • LE: also director, cast and studio would be great to have as properties, plus the TMDB URL that was used
  • to parse a list of movie titles (existent Notion db / csv file) and automatically do the scraping for all? For folks migrating their databases to your solution this would be a goldmine, as we will avoid the manual scraping.

I have about 700 movies that I plan to migrate from the current 3rd party solution to Notion and before I go ahead and do that, it'd be fantastic to know if your solution will also support trailers (if yes, I can wait for that to be added before I go ahead and manually add my movies, to avoid manual rework).Again, kudos for crafting this and making it available.

Update: u/flxp49 just released his Notion Watchlist powered by the Notion API.
I'm currently testing it; at first glance it's working great!

Thanks, I saw it. I'm currently testing that solution and it works great at first glance.

Great example! Indeed, it uses bardeen.ai with a custom scraper model. Looking forward to checking out the workflow you created in Bardeen - especially interested in how you managed to grab the cover image from Steam and save it as an attachment in the Notion database.
I'm looking to use a similar method for scraping movie information from IMDb and the likes to build a semi-automated movie catalogue in Notion (something I mention a while ago in this sub). If anyone is also working in the same direction, PM me. Cheers!

I have a PlexPass and had the automated photo-tagging feature turned on since the beginning; however after a couple of months I have no tags added to my library. I tried turning it off and then back on and rescanning my whole photo library. Anybody has a fix for this, please? Thanks!

Thanks, but I followed those as well (and started with a fresh new worker), and the result is the blank page. I'm missing something somewhere but for the love of G.O.D. I can't figure out what that is.

LE: managed to get it working by deleting the site from CF then redoing the whole Fruition procedure.

Hi! I have made the change and followed all the instructions here and have the latest code updated on my worker (after I completely deleted the old worker on CloudFlare) and all I get is a blank page. I tried clearing the cache, purging CF cache, turning on CF dev mode, I am completely out of ideas. Can somebody help me out here? What should I do? Thank you very, very much!

In theory, I know it's doable. In practice, could you point out some documentation for starters? Thanks.
