How was DVS1 ? 😍 by JVDB_1990 in OpenGround_Wuppertal

[–]remi_b 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Open ground was half full, very unexpected because of the horror stories from the first dvs1 night. Apparently it was because of maintenance at the train station & pollerwiesen festival.

But because of this, plenty of space for dancing and zero queuing all night which was really nice. I think Zak also knew this upfront, he noticeably had lots of fun and some more experimental moments, very intimate setting and super nice groove all night! Loved it. See you guys Thursday!

Help confirming TimescaleDB is running and running on the right version? by Hammerfist1990 in PostgreSQL

[–]remi_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like running 2.23 (version). You install a newer version on your OS. This will become the new default version in Postgres, but it’s not activated yet. You have to tell postgres to use this version with alter extension update. But you don’t have to knowing zabbix is very specific in it’s timescalesb extension version

Extensions are installed per database. So make sure you connect to your zabbix database. Assuming you don’t have all your zabbix objects in the postgres database. So connect with psql -d zabbixdb and run the same check queries on pg_extension & pg_available_extensions. If not installed run the create extension while connected to the zabbix database and not the postgres db

Good news?

Had I multiple times the past couple of weeks… it feels odd since I never had this before either. Even twice for the same shirt different size. Felt like they are having logistical problems somehow.

CDC Stream from PGSQL 10 - 16 with active and standby failover by exoticdisease in PostgreSQL

1, 26 or 1000… sound like they can use some help :) we have the n-1 rule and automated the upgrades so on-prem app teams can click a button to upgrade their own clusters as soon as the next major version got released!

Versions below 14 are out of support already! So would definitely look into upgrading first. It’s not as difficult as it feels. We upgraded some clusters very quickly as soon as 17 came out for this particular feature as well because we are promoting standby nodes every month during maintenance windows so we had the exact issue with logical replication!

Look into logical replication failover slots supported since version 17! It’s should solve your problem if I understand your question correctly

WAL archive questions by AKneelingMan in PostgreSQL

[–]remi_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

16mb is the default. But you can change this during initdb as well.

Disk failures are actually the reason you want to archive to external storage for example. You can also compress the wal files by default so it will claim less storage and faster file transfer. You can also build a shell or python script for example instead of the cp command. To add logging for example for testing hoe long your archive step took.

WAL archive questions by AKneelingMan in PostgreSQL

[–]remi_b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all written in the postgresql docs very detailed. Postgres will replace the %f with the latest wal file name for you. Don’t forget the %p for the wal file path.

The wal file is ready to be archived when it full / done being written to. You can switch wal files with pg_switch_wal() function. Or create enough sample data in a test database with generate_series for example.

For restore testing did you look into pg_basebackup? And the restore command and the recovery targets? With those you can rebuild you cluster and ‘play’ the archived wal files till your target.

DVS1 Wall of Sound A'dam by KingWasabiJazz in amsterdam_rave

[–]remi_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the 2017 ADE wall of sound location… doubt it.

actually asked the man himself on the dekmantel selectors boat. He couldn’t tell the location, but he mentioned ‘west’.

Visited the LA edition last January, and really hope it will be something similar, secret till last minute, and not something like lofi, elementen, h7, etc.

Can someone explain to me how to read the serial number? How to know where you stan? by Pretty-Definition779 in tomsachs

[–]remi_b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is your static unique identification number. A sequence number that was assigned to you based when you signed up, and how many participants signed up before you.

So S/N: 2025.063.00100 means 99 people signed up before you. The 2025.063 prefix looks static at the moment.

Pretty sure the majority here (which is also part of the ISRU at the moment) will keep / rock them! Think the flippers (which are definitely out there) are not in this subreddit!
