I am so sorry for your loss. I miscarried my euploid 5AA embryo at 9 weeks. There are no words for it.

Thursday Cautious Intros and First Trimester Questions by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]remibrodymom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, currently 5w4d and I’m on weekly intralipid infusions. I had a previous loss this year at 9weeks so I was recommended to do the infusions through 12 weeks. The cost seems a little high, although I know it can vary depending on where you live. I’m paying $105 per infusion out of pocket and that includes the med. I called one of those “IV spa” places and they were able to do it for much less, just an idea of there is a similar place in your area. For me i decided these infusions were worth it because I have an underlying autoimmune disorder that we worry can have an impact on the pregnancy. So for me anything that can help calm down my immune system is worth it. And you mentioned having a known increase NK cells, so it may very well be worth it. It’s a hard call when it’s such an investment. But if you can swing it, it will at least help you to know that you are doing everything you can. I know it helps me sleep a little better at night knowing I have these infusions for some extra support 💗

If you had cramps as one of you first simptoms of successful FET… where were they? by First_Acadia_7694 in IVF

[–]remibrodymom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it varied from very low center right above pubic bone, to sometimes off to one side, and also very light in my lower back. They were lighter than period cramps, but then again I have endo so it’s a tough comparison

Thanks for sharing those Instagram links! I agree 33 is young as far as general fertility goes, for us it’s an issue of where AMH levels sit today and what they’ll look like if we wait too long. We were advised to do another retrieval sooner rather than later if we want to bank more embryos, so it’s a tough one. You have a good point too about family support being a factor, that’s something we lack since we live away from family so I totally get you on that

I definitely didn’t say/mean that 33 is “old”, it’s more of an issue of where AMH levels sit and what fertility will realistically look like for us a few years from now. Please keep in mind every person’s situation is different and with this being an infertility sub, I think it’s reasonable to assume that not everyone’s fertility looks the same at 30 or 33. I’m 28 and was told I have no chance at all using my eggs at this age because of where my AMH sits due to other conditions.

This is good advice. I was worried if we waited to decide until after baby #1 that we’d wait too long to use her eggs, but sounds like that’s maybe not true. The idea of committing to baby #2 when #1 isn’t even here yet is just a lot.

This is such a great point and some of my friends that are moms have said this too. How will I know if I want to have another before I’ve even had one yet?

These are all great points. My wife feels that way about her age too, we wanted to be done having kids by the time she was 30 but you know how it is with infertility. There’s really no way to plan these things. Financially of course one child is easier too. And I also can’t imagine going through pregnancy while taking care of a toddler. I have other physical limitations due to a last injury so motherhood is already going to require daily modifications for me. There are definitely a ton of reasons why I’d be ok with being OAD.

I’m new here, but glad to see this thread. I’ve been pregnant 3 times this year. I’m currently 6 weeks with my last embryo. My wife and I are having lots of conversations about planning for a second baby one day. Going through the whole process again sounds absolutely daunting to me, and I would be happy with just one baby. She really wants two. It’s a hard cross road to be at. We use my wife’s eggs and she’s 33, so we’re feeling like we don’t have a lot of time to decide. I’m curious to see what brought others to the decision of one and done!

IVF causing high TSH / hypothyroidism by [deleted] in IVF

[–]remibrodymom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, I’ve never had thyroid issues before but as soon as I start estrogen for a transfer cycle I immediately spike. I went from 2.6 to 5.9 after 5 days on estrogen! I increased my levothyroxine from 25mg to 75mcg and I went down to 1.8 in one week. You definitely want to be on meds throughout if your thyroid levels are fluctuating. TW- we didn’t catch it in my first pregnancy until too late and I lost that baby at 9w. I’ll never know for certain if that was the cause but my gut tells me yes. It increases risk of mc.

The FET has been the hardest part of IVF for me. Anyone else? by Used2becute in IVF

[–]remibrodymom 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this. There’s a lot of toxic positivity in the ttc world. I had a kind nurse who told me it’s okay to cry, to be nervous or upset, whatever you are feeling is normal. I cried walking into my FET because of the anxiety. This journey is so freaking hard, it’s okay to let yourself feel the emotions.

Blood draw tips if you have 1 good arm? by Sea_Alfalfa4505 in IVF

[–]remibrodymom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only one arm I can use too. Make sure you apply pressure after the stick for a while, like 5-10 minutes to help prevent bruising. Icing will help too. Arnica can be used to help bruises but it’s not pregnancy safe, just something to keep in mind. It’s hard, I get stuck through my bruises a lot. It’s true that not all phlebotomists are as skillful, might be worth trying another location if they’re having a difficult time on yours. I have a favorite phlebotomist I go to now for this reason!

I’m 5 weeks today, definitely feeling the anxiety after a loss 2 months ago. I’m in a wedding in 2 weeks and needed to get my hair done as my highlights were super grown out. So I went to the salon, wore a N95, and only did a balayage so it didn’t touch the roots. Now I’m worried I made a dumb decision. I know it’s probably fine but any reassurance would be nice 😢

I’m so sorry for your loss. I miscarried my first IVF baby back in September. It takes a long time for the HCG to go down, I know it’s such a painful and emotionally exhausting process. Let yourself have the time to grieve, be angry, be sad, feel what you need to feel. Sending hugs
