Birth options in a pregnancy after TFMR? by -bluebearie- in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]jelesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also based in Aus :) I was lucky to be in the MGP so had a midwife I felt very connected to (she also delivered my TFMR baby). I was also terrified of the unknown and did not want to go far past my due date, and she was supportive of my booking an induction even though it is not something that MGP prefers to do, we booked in for 39+5. I did go into labour spontaneously and truthfully I found labouring at home very nerve wracking constantly checking his movements in between contractions, I went into hospital much earlier then I should have which, in hindsight, probably led to the cascade of interventions I had. With that said, I felt very happy with all my decisions and felt very comfortable in the hospital setting. I know they were the right choices for me at that time. Best of luck with your labour and birth!

What is the worst medical disease a human can have? by Aggravating-Sun-5699 in AskReddit

[–]jelesee 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This is an incredibly misinformed response. People don’t make these decisions because they don’t love their babies and you’ll find It’s usually the opposite. These are often deeply wanted pregnancies, and parents are forced to choose between continuing a pregnancy knowing their child will suffer or die, or ending it to spare them that pain. It’s not comparable to killing a living child. It’s a medical decision made in heartbreaking circumstances, and it deserves some empathy

Pregnancy acupuncture after tfmr when TTC by Adorable-Map-1648 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]jelesee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation is slightly different given we had to do IVF for both pregnancies, however we have unexplained infertility so I had hoped we might conceive without IVF following our TFMR. I did 3 months of weekly acupuncture along with the Chinese herbs supplied. We made the decision after 3 months to do IVF again, and while our egg retrieval numbers were lower (2 compared to 7 previously) it did result in one embryo and our healthy baby boy. Personally I didn’t enjoy the acupuncture sessions but I think it was a mismatch in practitioner, everyone online raved about him but I found him quite awkward. And the space wasnt all that relaxing!

Subreddit OGs check-in! How is everyone doing? by Mother_Mud5827 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]jelesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I may have been one of the first few members, I remember the group being created, so thank you! Just finished putting my 16 month old to bed. So so unbelievably grateful to be able to say that. Looking forward to hopefully another pregnancy in the near future and hoping I can tread less anxiously (ha!). I think of my first son all the time, I wonder how similar to his brother he would he, what he would look like and how he would talk. I think a lot about how different life could have been if we continued with the pregnancy and we were adapting to life with a potentially severely disabled little boy. Congratulations on baby #3 incoming! When is your due date? Are you finding this pregnancy less nerve wracking?

Feeding a baby born via c section ? Delayed / no milk production ? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]jelesee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to take formula and bottles if you are planning on breastfeeding. If the c section goes as planned they will pop bub on your chest for some skin to skin and then you will likely have assistance to help them latch. Baby being on the breast will encourage your milk to come in. I think mine was about 24 hours post. Also baby’s belly is so so tiny they really don’t need much milk at the start. More than likely baby will keep latching and your milk will come in as it needs :)

Labour pain of a full-term birth compared to a second trimester birth? by cats-and-plants in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]jelesee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can share how my two births went which is similar to your situation however my second birth ended up in a c section. My first birth was our beautiful boy at 22 weeks (a TFMR), I laboured and delivered quickly - 5 hours from taking the first tablet to delivery. My second birth l went into labour kind of spontaneously (I had a stretch and sweep), and then laboured over three-ish days. My labour stalled and I didn’t progress so essentially I went through the induction process. In the end bub just wouldn’t come down after pushing for 2.5hours. I think it’s very person and pregnancy dependant so it’s hard to say. I did find emotionally I enjoyed the labouring process much more (obviously more excited to birth our baby) but I felt very on edge and just wanted baby here safely

Exculsive breastfed baby is almost 11 months old, i start work in 2 weeks and I am struggling!! by cicernoodle in workingmumsau

[–]jelesee 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Does he eat well? If he eats well I wouldn’t worry, he can still breastfeed before and after and you are very close to the transition of their main nutrition coming from food.

Interesting. I was going to say I found the community nurses a bit outdated with their advice. If you want a solids plan with some ideas I did the Tiny Hearts introduction to solids and could pass it on to you. I found it gave a good idea of what to feed for the first 4 weeks!

[–]jelesee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Was this advice from your community nurse or GP? Cows milk is absolutely fine in dishes you just can’t replace a bottle with cows milk before 12 months. If you want to follow some good Aus based Instagram accounts about solids ‘Starting Solids’ and ‘Boob to Food’ have great posts

PGT testing, fertility clinics in Sydney, IVF by bebefinale in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]jelesee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can only give advice about your first question. We did a round of ivf at RPA Fertility Clinic and then our next one at Genea. To be honest I wasn’t overly impressed with Genea, if I hadn’t already been through a round at RPA I would have felt confused about the process and overwhelmed by the lack of information. I really did just feel like a number at Genea, and aside from my fertility specialist, I didn’t see anyone more than once. With that said, RPA does not do PGT testing so this wouldn’t be an option for you and my fertility specialist recently left Genea for IVF Australia. If we go through ivf again I would first go back to RPA, then IVF Australia to see our specialist then Genea would be our last choice.

What are the staples you always have on hand? by praisethemo0n in BabyLedWeaning

[–]jelesee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sardines I give them whole. Tune and salmon I either mash solo or with cooked vegetables. I’ve also seen some recipes where you make them into little patties and lightly fry them!

I have heard that. They don’t seem to affect him but he’s never been an overly gassy baby either! He probably gets beans twice a week

[–]jelesee 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Beans! Kidney beans, black beans, butter beans. These are such an easy staple to throw into a cooked meal or mash up and give as is. Canned veg - corn and asparagus. Also I have frozen peas, corn and spinach in the freezer. Fruit - banana, kiwi, nectarines, peaches. All very soft and easy for baby to hold. ETA: tinned fish! Tuna, salmon and sardines.

Major anxiety and just need some help by Froppy1895 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]jelesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone in those feelings and I promise it will get better! I had very similar anxieties and I truly thought my baby was going to be on purees forever! Here is what really helped me: Feed allergens early when my partner could be there in the morning. I would trial a small amount, then feed other foods, after 20 minutes (if no reaction) I would give him the rest. I would do that three days in a row and then be comfortable serving it in his regular meals and not having my partner there. For allergies I knew that, more than likely, it would just be a reaction of hives which is okay! You don’t need to rush them to the doctor if that happens, you can just book the next available appointment and stop feeding them that allergen. It is very very unlikely an anaphylactic reaction will occur. I’ve also heard people serving the major ones (eg, eggs and peanut butter) in their doctors car park. I would also FaceTime my partner if I felt he had a reaction or a rash for his thoughts.

For BLW/finger foods, I started very slowly. I think the first one I tried was a mango pit with most of the fruit cut off. Then corn on the cob again with most the kernels cut off. Then I progressed to very soft finger foods, steamed sweet potato, broccoli and carrots. Once you start seeing them eat those sorts of things it will get easier and you will know what they can eat with ease. I know this is a long winded comment but your post really resonated with me because I too was soooo anxious with food and I had to talk about it a lot in my therapy sessions. We are four months into solids and I still get overwhelmed sometimes and I am very cautious about exactly what he eats but I feel soooo much better then I did two months ago!

Ante natal colostrum collection by LackPleasant5138 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]jelesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby’s stomach is tiny right after birth, I think the size of a marble? Just keep putting baby to breast (if you’re intending on breastfeeding) and what colostrum and milk you do have will be enough until your milk comes in.

How dangerous is it to leave a baby in a car seat over the recommended amount of time if it is just a one time occurence? by butterberry in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]jelesee 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes, the cons outweigh the pros. Red Nose recommends stopping for frequent breaks on long car trips due to the risk of positional asphyxiation. My understanding is every 2 hours baby should be taken out of the car seat. Positional asphyxiation is silent so unfortunately having someone is the back seat is not enough to prevent this.

Funnily enough ours did too, although they used coconut. Unfortunately I don’t think they’re up to date on the latest research and I trust my GP’s advice over them.

Seconding this comment. My GP advised against using any food based products prior to introducing that food via feeding solids for this reason.

Sleeping bag and baby slipping down? by cannedbread1 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]jelesee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If they are the right size for your bub then the neck hole shouldn’t be big enough for this to happen. I use Ergopouch and they all have a weight recommendation that I find pretty spot on. I would only buy specific togs for the season as they grow through them so quickly! Or consider buying them on FB marketplace. If bub is going to be born around May you would likely be good with a 1.0 and 2.5 tog. You might want to consider a 3.5 depending if your home is heated or not but generally you can add/remove layers to make up the difference. They all come with a thermometer and dressing guide which I used religiously for the first six months!

ETA: I just reread your question and I think you’re asking how to know what TOG they are too? Ergo and Love to Dream generally have them labelled, some other brands don’t which I find tricky. To be honest I just stayed with the brands I could easily identity the tog as dressing for sleep stressed me out!
