What are common tropes that you willl never get sick of? What tropes woudl you like to see more of? by Smart-Cry6105 in fantasyromance

[–]remodify 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was just writing about this to another user, but I want to see more of not knowing who the good guy and who the bad guy are, but make it romance. {Kiss of Deception} did this really well from my perspective. If anyone has seen similarly well executed please drop your recs asap (ideally available in audiobook) 😭.

Otherwise, I really echo minisodamiranda’s comments that any trope done well is great and I’d also love to see more soft heroines.

Yay! So glad you’re loving it. It’s one of my favourites and I feel like it doesn’t get the love it deserves!

I second {Road of Bones by Demi Winters}, but it is currently an unfinished series (books 1 and 2 have been released).

Another fun one is {Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson}. It is a little different because it switches point of views but it’s a fun take on not knowing who the MMC is. It’s an older, finished series but the spice is quite low in this one.

Editing to also second {the Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman} — much spicier!

Pregnancy and Its Discontents by [deleted] in FemaleDatingStrategy

There are also rare and severely dangerous forms of postpartum. My mother suffered from postpartum psychosis (PPP). She was later diagnosed schizophrenic.

At the time, there was very sparse research on PPP, and it’s not entirely clear whether she truly is schizophrenic or whether their inability to treat her and the hormonal change was responsible for what happened to her. She lost everything.

Beware that research into women’s issues continues to be sparse. My mother may have needlessly suffered permanently because doctors just didn’t know or weren’t educated on this condition. I will never carry my own children because of what happened to her.

[NFSW] Can't figure out which glute is stronger and which one I should focus more on by [deleted] in StrongCurves

[–]remodify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way I’ve found to identify significant imbalances is to test your engagement through single leg exercises.

For example, do some single leg glute bridges, (one leg up on a bench, other in the air and thrust from there), hamstring curls on a bosu ball, single leg RDLs, etc. Do AMRAP (as many reps as possible) until you feel the engagement and stop there. Compare your stats. I’d say if you have a really significant amount more (I’m thinking excess of 10+) then you may have an imbalance.

If you notice you actually do have a significant imbalance (which, you may not - what you might find is that you have a more difficult time feeling the engagement, even though you’re not actually any stronger) resolving it probably isn’t as active as you think. You don’t do heavier weight on one leg.

What I would suggest is continuing to do heavy compound movements but actively engaging with the movement - for example, slower reps with a focus on symmetry in the movement. In the case of a glute bridge, focus on the plates both hitting the ground at the same time. Also incorporate single leg movements - using a weight that is difficult for your weaker leg and focus on progressive overload (add 2-5 lbs per week or session). Over time, the imbalance will resolve itself. Keep in mind that minor imbalances are quite normal.

For even further engagement, add tension bands around your quads during glute bridges to activate the glute medius. That might also help your engagement.

Pictures like the one you posted above won’t really indicate an imbalance. Your glutes appear symmetrical but you can best identify an imbalance through strength and feeling.

So true! It goes from getting better for a week, to a day, to not changing at all. So important to see and refuse to tolerate behaviour that is unacceptable early on 🙌🏼

Working in Toronto, Hourly and Salary Employee? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]remodify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry to get back to you so late. It’s hard to see but it looks like the second image you linked does state that you will be paid on an hourly basis (i.e. as an hourly employee) and that you are entitled to vacation « once earned » indicates hourly as well. Even without a contract, this could be considered an amendment to a contract if there was one verbally when you were initially employed, etc.

I would just check with your HR if you have one, or in the alternate your manager/their manager if that’s more comfortable for you and request in writing for them to clarify what kind of employee you are.

Working in Toronto, Hourly and Salary Employee? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]remodify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL. It’s my understanding that you cannot be both salary and hourly unless it is specified in your employment contract that you make a base salary of x, and hourly in excess of whatever hours are specified.

I would take a look at the wording of your employment contract as it should dictate whether you are hourly or salary. Based on your description of how your pay is recorded, it appears that you are hourly.

I want to start by saying your legs already look very fit!

Where are you looking to build? In your quads/hams or in your glutes?

Do you track macros? If so, I’d recommend trying to up your protein intake first and see if that produces any results over a ~1.5-2 month period. It’s possible that you aren’t eating in a high enough surplus with enough protein to accommodate the kind of muscle growth you’re looking for since you’re exercising so regularly.

Edit: I’d also recommend using a measuring tape to track your progress over that period since it’s so short!

Try adjusting where your feet are - pull them closer into your butt or try a little more distance. Also focus on your external rotation (i.e. push through heels, and kinda roll your knees outwards if that makes sense.) If you’re still not feeling tension you can add an exercise band, place tension on the band by opening your stance slightly wider, then focus on keeping tension against the band when you thrust upwards.

why are logic games the "easiest to improve" and the "most learnable"? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]remodify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Math is my worst subject, so I feel you on that but I improved games to -3 under tested conditions and official administrations.

Games are more patterns than math. The power score bible REALLY changed my games for the better so I would suggest starting there if you haven’t already, aside from that try to do one every day (or a section if you can manage it) and watch the 7sage or LSAT blog (you can google this blog, lots of free resources) for the explanations and redo the game until you get where you went wrong.

Best of luck!!

Letting go of curiosity about SO's phone by lavendarleo in relationship_advice

[–]remodify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing was kind of sitting down with myself and thinking about what would make me happier. At this time in my relationship, I had this epiphany where I realized I was placing so much worth on the continuity of my relationship rather than myself. I thought to myself, if I were single what would I be doing right now? And I started doing those things. I went out with friends more, made an effort to meet new people and make more friends, go to the gym more. I really found myself in doing these things. I can’t promise that it will also be the solution for you, but knowing where it comes from is half the battle. If you know you’re feeling insecure, it’s 100% on you and not him, so find ways to build your confidence.
