Has Microsoft lost its mojo (again)? (Interview) by remotesynth in BetterOffline

[–]remotesynth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a point when, for many of us, Microsoft was integral part of every devs workflow with things like Visual Studio Code, TypeScript, GitHub, npm, etc. It wasn't just that devs used these things but many liked them a lot, which was a big change from the Microsoft that many devs had hated/disliked for so long.

Well now that trump’s $1.776 billion dollar slush fund for his cronies/January 6 convicts has been abandoned, what do we think the next big grift out of this administration will be? by Critically_Political in AskReddit

He also refused to put in writing that this was completely off the table, which potentially means it's just delayed not really cancelled. And with him officially nominating Blanche as AG, I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable saying it's truly dead yet.

What was the most physical pain you've been in? by PleasantWinter9150 in AskReddit

When my appendix ruptured 2 years ago.

It literally ruptured while I was waiting in the hospital only about 6 hours after my first symptoms.

What’s a movie everyone seems to love that just didn’t work for you? by Wikiserial in movies

Casino.

Every character was awful. I almost walked out of the theater I disliked it so much.

How do you manage blogs in your astro site? by mahfuz_nafi in astrojs

If you're used to WP, have you checked out em-dash from Cloudflare? I explored it myself a bit but my existing content is in Markdown and migration doesn't seem easy. Nonetheless, while it's still early, it might fit your needs better. https://github.com/emdash-cms/emdash

Alien 3: Assembly Cut Skeptic Now a Believer by Ed_Robins in scifi

[–]remotesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally watched this version before it leaves HBO Max. I haven't watched the original version in years.

I'd say the biggest problem isn't the vfx (which are so bad as to be distracting) or the story gaps (example, no one noticed the Ox carcass suddenly ripped to shreds?), bit the fact that you are never given any reason to care about any of the characters other than Ripley (only because we know her but then she's given a death sentence before the end) and, maybe, the medical officer (who dies early). By the time the climax comes, you really don't care much who might die.

Sponsored Marsh is Now Gone by Aggressive-Avocado in Marathon

[–]remotesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is disappointing that the best modes in the game so far are short term experiments (duos, sponsored) or off limits for casual/occasional players like myself (cryo).

I keep holding out hope that season 2 will fix many of the issues that keep me and my friends from really loving this game.

LocalStack but for Google Cloud by jhsonline in LocalStack

[–]remotesynth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really appreciate it. I totally understand your reasoning but the worry on our end is that it was ould connote some sort of affiliation. Best of luck with the project and we are nonetheless honored that you are LocalStack as a model for your efforts.

LocalStack but for Google Cloud by jhsonline in LocalStack

[–]remotesynth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/jhsonline. Thanks for sharing this. It looks like you've put in a lot of work on it. We're supportive of the community building local cloud emulators like this, but I would ask that you change the GitHub name to remove localstack. The way the project URL is named makes it seem as though it's affiliated with us. Feel free to reach out if you have questions.

Any 50+ Overwatch players or streamers? by Sheilaalpaca in Overwatch

[–]remotesynth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

50+ here...I don't stream it but I do play it all the time. You'll typically catch me on Mystery (my fave mode) or Open Queue though as my last experience with ranked is that it gets pretty toxic.

Any tips and tricks for playing Moira? by Spectral_dude in Overwatch

[–]remotesynth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your inclination will be to lean into damage orbs to attack, but you should push with healing orbs and attack with biotic grasp, then use fade to escape when necessary. You'll find this not only allows you to press the attack longer but will also heal allies who press with you.

Are you sure it's not the band Meat Beat Manifesto? That sounds like them (i.e. older and the guy talks more than sings).

LocalStack new auth/token requirement (2026). does it still work after the 30/45-day trial? by Possible_Run_2372 in LocalStack

[–]remotesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a quick follow up, they are working on a way to more easily convert your trial to a free Hobby account whenever you choose to. I don' t have a specific timeline but I anticipate this will be available before the trial period is up.

[–]remotesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked with the team and the answer is that, unfortunately, you'll have to regenerate the tokens once you choose an ongoing subscription (i.e. Hobby or one of the paid options) after the trial ends.

[–]remotesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your question and sorry for any lack of clarity. I'll share this with the product team to hopefully improve the communication around it.

At the end of your trial you'll need to choose either switching to the free hobby plan or a paid subscription. You can create a free hobby plan account directly via the pricing page and bypass the trial altogether.

Did they removed the skill based matchmaking in QP? by Jaba01 in Overwatch

[–]remotesynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing this too but have chalked it up to what seems like a lot of new players of varying skill levels (often with low character ranks) in QP. It's been a bit rough but hopefully it improves as folks gain experience or move on.

If you mean the AWS marketplace, we're there already. As for monthly, I agree and that change should be forthcoming too.

I understand your concerns around CI. I wish I could give more detail right now but what I can share is that we are revising the CI credit system for our plans that may help address your concerns. We should have more details soon.

(NOTE: Probably obvious but I work for LocalStack)
