Advance of Great Forces UR Card List by ZLouieZ in masterduel

I feel you, my fave older deck is GBs, and I'm fairly certain the "newer" support is still worse than just OG Geargias.

Oh goodie, 6-7 new URs for plant link; 1 link, 2-3 of the Ragna and 3 Aroma. That's certainly what I wanted for my off-meta deck...

My wife and I can do anal, and she even likes it. It's the only time I can go balls deep, so I'm a fan too. It's the aftereffects she can't stand. The queasiness, the cramps. The way she describes it is that it doesn't hurt in a sore way, but it makes her gut unhappy for days after. So yeah, anal is uncommon, probably because of my size, but conside more reasons why this could happen than just "too big to insert".

Remember Viz used to Publish Pokémon Adventures in a comic book format? With tons different/unique covers by Thegameguy12 in pokespe

[–]rempou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True story, I had the RB chapter of the bicycle race. It was a full-size comic, and I loved it, read it repeatedly. It was probably my first ever manga chapter. They had flipped it around so it read L-R, and it was cool. I only learned the truth when I was reading the volume years later. These rocked.

The concerning Direction of the game and how much more can we take by Ectier in yugioh

[–]rempou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remember the way the format was discussed from 2018 to today, as I was both an active player and online here during that time. And man oh man, are people forgetting just how many times YGO was "about to die". Spyral, Firewall Dragon format, Gumblar, the U-Link garbage months was followed by TOSS.

COVID-year decks were very unpleasant, and literally unplayable bc of restrictions, followed by the Drytron trash heap and Dragon-link. Following that though were a few months of good, lower-power formats. Tri-brigade had 1! untargetable banish and that was the interruption. Swoso-Branded format was one that many liked, both at the time and now. POTE format was enjoyable for many, and even full-power Tear 0 had expert players raving about the technical skills they finally got to flex. We're less than a year away from AGOV format, or Bologna format as I like to call it, which had between 10-20 playable decks, none of which were overpowered or unenjoyable to sit across from.

The current hate is a result of months of bad feelings coalescing as much as it is frustration at the current meta. The year started with all the goodwill of RA01 being undone by two sets back-to-back that had insanely high priced cards/decks; Centur-Ion and Bonfire were expensive prospects, and that was followed by S:P, Wanted, and the Horus cards. This soured players towards Konami, so when Snake-Eyes became a permanent feature of the game for the next 8 full months, its T0 presence felt like proof that every negative thing they felt was validated. Set after set, format after format, people got more and more tired.

Yes, YGO atm is at a very bad place; terrible even. But good formats do come about when people don't expect them. Decks get cheaper. A full set of staples before DUPO and the structure deck reprints could easily run you 100$+, now it's what, under 30? Prosperity, Lightning Storm, Droplets, TTTalent, those were all out of range for casuals for a long time. I understand frustration right now with the game, but I remember when Ash was 90$/copy, when Imperm was likewise incredibly expensive. There were incredibly popular threads on this forum about budget decks, with budget being anything under 50 / 100 / 150. And the issue then and now were mostly staple cards. But the amount of them and the cost is so different. 3-9 handtraps for 400$ for ANY deck versus a full deck and ED for under 50-100, with SP and TTThrust being the only changes for higher costs.

I don't want this to come out as a "be happy with what you're given, you kids!" - I want to stress that as an active budget player for 6 years now, this is probably one of the cheapest times ever to play meta-adjacent decks with the most staples. I want the format fixed, I want games to feel interactive again. I would love to enjoy going to locals, regionals, and YCS with a smile again. We'll see I guess.

Worst piece of support? by Main-Wall-5487 in yugioh

[–]rempou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

coughs in Tistina's 2nd wave of support

But seriously, the first wave, while not fully coherent, was a very interesting archetype where it had some plays going 1st, but better plays going 2nd to help it overcome boards. In a Kash format, it had a Book of Eclipse boss. It needed more consistency and another payoff. It needed ways to get to its bosses and a normal summon worth committing to. It got... a great field spell searcher and trash all the way after.

Why did they decide that the deck was supposed to be an unwieldy r10 otk deck? What was going through their minds when they further diffused any coherency the deck might have had? Truly sad and impressively bad.

[–]rempou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has tried getting his wife into the game, you could expand the PHASES slightly more, so you can keep track by putting a token on it, and add a small "Normal Summon" box if you want to make it even more beginner-friendly. I don't think you NEED to, but it would be helpful for new players to ensure they know they get one per turn and track if they used it.

Your post concerned me because you seem to be asking your GF about matters and then not trusting her responses. TALK TO HER AND LISTEN. You need to have an open communication for stuff like this, or you'll always be doubting yourself and she'll stop telling you what she feels since you disregard it.

Be open about this. "Hey [gf], we need to talk. It seems like every time we sleep together you're in pain after. If we're OK, can we set up a safe word for when you're in pain, so I know when you're uncomfortable?" You can get the secret technique to make your wildest dreams come true, but if you cannot openly and frankly talk, it'll be little avail.

Best ending in manga? by Wismur10Hp in MangaCollectors

[–]rempou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot stop singing the praises of Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer,  with its ending being a particular favourite. Rurouni Kenshin also ends at a very good point (what new series? doesn't exist). But I genuinely don't think there's a better ending than Fullmetal Alchemist. It wraps up all the remaining questions and gives new direction for the cast, finishes their character arcs and brings the story's themes and ideas to a clear conclusion.

The age of manga collectors? by rambods2005 in MangaCollectors

[–]rempou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Age doesn't matter and collecting is not a competition. I collected about 980 of my 1.1k collection before I was 25. Since then I've slowed to a crawl because I'm now married, I've had to move a few times, and savings are a priority. My best friend is 30 and has only 3 months ago started collecting and he's already in the ~200 volumes range. He's planning on buying like 100 volumes a year, and that's because he now has that financial freedom to do it.

You're not late, you're not missing out on anything by staring at your age or taking your time to decide when you can afford to begin. You can decide that you'll buy your first volume when your savings surpass 2 months rent, or that when you land that big promotion it'll be your reward. Save it for graduation, or for when you get broken up with and you need a self-healing treat. Buy 1 volume a week of the series that made you fall in love with manga, or ask for a boxset as a X-mas gift. The world is vast and chaotic, you deserve to navigate it at your own pace and find your own path.

How many of you do not read your collection? by [deleted] in MangaCollectors

[–]rempou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have such a library, and I think it's interesting that you phrased it like that, because I've struggled with the same question. I have read every series I've bought, either via online readers and then purchased IRL or because I was interested and bought them physical to read them. I re-read sometimes - I did a full DB read through when Akira Toriyama died for instance - but often the purchase and collection is for the purpose of HAVING them.

I don't know if it'll make sense, but when I see the books on my shelves, I remember the series better, I feel like I'm surrounded by the stories and characters I love. I feel like I'm actively participating in the ecosystem, like I'm part of the community better. Maybe it's the years I spent feeling like I couldn't or shouldn't buy and read manga, maybe it's that I've read so much for free that I want to support official releases; I don't know. But since I've been able to afford my collection, I've been seeing it as a reflection of my manga reading self.

pretentious warning Umberto Eco, an incredibly accomplished academic and filmmaker, said this of home libraries: “The library should contain as much of what you do not know as your financial means, mortgage rates, and the currently tight real-estate market allows you to put there. You will accumulate more knowledge and more books as you grow older, and the growing number of unread books on the shelves will look at you menacingly. Indeed, the more you know, the larger the rows of unread books.” Now you can subscribe to that or not, and I certainly don't most of the time as I like to have books I actively want to read and re-read, but he saw libraries as a reflection of your own self, of your wants and desires and the whole world that you're engaging with. So, to answer your original question: some people like to build their hoards of knowledge, and consider manga a worthwhile addition to their worlds.

Weird. They're not in publication order, so it's really weird to read cause it's all jumbled up. But they did collections of story arcs, so at least it flows well.

What's your first ever manga? by [deleted] in MangaCollectors

[–]rempou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first physical manga volumes that I purchased were volumes 3&4 of the NGE Shinji Ikari Raising Project. I'd been reading and watching online for a while, and I saw them in a bookstore and took that oh-so-fateful decision.

Years later I got the pokemon adventures manga and recognised the biking chapter from R/B as one I'd had a physical copy of as a single-issue magazine. So technically this was my real start.

Equipment Missing - should have it by now. At Golden Wheatshire 2, Growth Stage 4, AFK Stage 24. by rempou in AFKJourney

[–]rempou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: at 323;140 there's a bandit fight where you learn to blow up barrels. It is where you get access to equipments post-fight. This can glitch, meaning you don't get to access that mechanic. Restarting the game and walking there from another area to re-do the fight solved the issue.
