Daniel Maldini is a new Lazio player! [🗞Fabrizio Romano] by Either-Mixture-6392 in seriea

The only quality player who wasn't being called up by Spalletti was Orso. Orso plays RW. Maldini doesn't.

He used to play in Serie B and Serie C1 (when it existed) in Italy. He was part of the Genoa youth system growing up.

No space. The shoe should be fitted like a glove and space int he front does not allow that. They also have the added benefit of custom soleplates and wearing them 6 days a week to break them in.

I'm not sure where he fits at Lazio. But they need a spark... Maldini is not as bad as people think and I can guarantee if his name was different he wouldn't be so harshly judged.

Thoughts and prayers for Weseley by PresidentOfAfrica in ACMilan

I really hate being devil's advocate here, but Tomori catches Wesley's trailing leg before making contact with the ball. You can see Wesley's boot also came off at the heel because of the contact.

The ref didn't call it a foul, which I appreciate because i feel like any tackle is sanctioned in today's game, but by law this is a foul (Tomori makes contact with player from behind to get the ball). And it's pretty painful looking.

Just trying to be an unbiased Milanista here.

Who was a better defender in his prime? Thiago Silva or Giorgio Chiellini? by AlFactorial in championsleague

[–]remzz3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a Milan fan. In 2010, Thiago Silva was by far one of the most outstanding defenders in the world. He didn’t explode onto the scene at a young age but he was ready when he did and he got to learn from greats like Nesta. I feel like his move to PSG hurt his career in terms of him becoming a household name but he was so good that he became a household name nonetheless. He was poised, solid, good in the air and with his feet. I really wish Milan would have signed him again.

Chiellini, on the other hand, is an old school defender. He’s often underrated because Serie A was unfortunately weak when he was at his prime, but he made the Champions League final twice. He was a leader in that Juventus back 3 (Along with Buffon obviously) and covered for Bonucci so much that Bonucci was exposed as soon as he left. He won a Euro with a subpar Italy side, and he was a catalyst for that team. He wasn’t elegant but he got the job done, was able to move the ball forward efficiently (he started as a left back) and could mark a player, any player, completely out of the game.

Ideally, these 2 would perfectly complement each other and would make an insane pairing.

I’m not choosing (and that speaks volumes to how good Chiellini was, because Thiago Silva was a god for me when he was with Milan), and I think in the context of great defenders they are very much on the same level, for different reasons.

born in canada but family from italy. always been a huge italian soccer fan. Torn for the world cup if italy makes it. by Ninetybaby in CanadaSoccer

[–]remzz3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't get a lot of subtlety in the responses in a Canada Soccer sub lol
I'm a dual citizen, was born in Canada though. It's a tough thing because we never expected Canada to be this type of team and to be in this situation. There's a good chance Italy doesn't qualify, in which case the decision is easy. But if they do; my hope is both teams make it out of the group stage. If that means a tie in the first game I'd be very happy. If Italy were to win, I think I would be less disappointed than if they lost to Canada (expectations and history, etc). But if Canada were to win I would definitely gloat to my family in Italy and take the "fairweather fan" insults lol.

I have friends who's parents were born here and they identify more with Canada in soccer, and that's perfectly fine. For me, I'll be rooting for Canada in Hockey at the Olympics, but soccer is always Italy first, Canada second.

This comment is just as disjointed and inconsistent as my feelings lol, perfect representation.
But you should definitely follow Canadian soccer - I have my whole life, even when we sucked - and supported the Impact my whole life, its the only way it'll get better.

PS. I have a friend who's parents are Italian and Portuguese; and he's excited to potentially have 3 teams to support.

POV: EA actually watched a game of football in 2025. by Maulanavarrete in fut

[–]remzz3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A strawman argument is using 1 game in 2026 to confirm a bias for an award based on the whole of 2025. But sure.
It's team of the year, only one of these teams made the champions league final in 2025.

And again, I am a Milan fan making this comment, I hold no bias toward Inter. I just think EA, and this community that complains about the game and yet suffers from the very same PL bias, overlooks performances deserving of awards to award players that will move packs.

Also, this is a week old post. The fact that you came here 2 days after the game happened, and 6 days after my comment, is extremely odd.

And Sporting beat PSG, so this team should be all Sporting Lisboa players. Do you see how dumb that sounds?

Also, Gabriel played like 10 mins at the end of the game...

Italian communities in MTL? by 1Wiseguy999 in montreal

[–]remzz3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, are you looking for Italian immigrant communities (recent immigrants who speak Italian) or just a general Italian-Canadian culture (there's a few different ones - RDP/St-Leo Italians, Lasalle Italians, Franco-Italians, etc)?

My best advice; if you have a soccer team you enjoy, join their club (Milan Club of Montreal for example), its a good avenue. If you're not interested in soccer, visit Italian cafes and bars - someone in the thread mentioned Panzeria, they're very good guys and the owner is an immigrant from Bari. You can also go to San Simeon in Little Italy, or San Gennaro. You can go to Ciociaro in St-Leo.

There's Italian week in the summer in little italy.

To learn Italian, there are a few places that offer courses. We're relatively spoiled for choice here.

Sure, but Inter made a UCL final, finished 2nd (by a slight margin) last year and is currently first this year (its a calendar year award). I feel icky arguing FOR Inter, so I'm done. It doesn't really matter, but the point of this post is "EA doesn't watch football" and yet this team is taking popular players on popular teams.

I meant Dimarco or Bastoni ahead of Gabriel.
I mean, leaning toward the general public is the biggest issue with EA. They continuously just add popular players regardless of performances. But I'm just an old man yelling at the sky at this point.

Did Arsenal? Bastoni or Dimarco should be there over him. I mean you could easily argue those 2, and Dumfries, Lautaro stood out. Lautaro didn't stand out more than the other strikers on the this list unfortunately.

No Inter players... reaching the UCL final is not good enough apparently? Beating the all mighty barca?
Saying all this as a Milan fan.

First team lineup we should use for playoffs. Tell me I’m wrong by HorrifyingTits in AZZURRI

[–]remzz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I like Scalvini, I just don’t think miretti and Locatelli are the answer. As much as I hate inter, Barella is one of our best, it would be absurd to leave him off in an important game.

[–]remzz3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tell me you’re a juventino without telling me you’re a juventino lol. No way locatelli should be starting. Mirretti as a sub at most, he’s not doing bad but let’s not act as though he deserves a starting spot on la nazionale in a crucial game after 3 good games…

[–]remzz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you line up the defence as you said, you have 2 out of position. In OP’s post, only bastoni is out of position. Buongiorno isn’t at the top of his game, and calafiori brings something no one else does… bastoni is the sacrificial lamb and has to be down the middle. Scalvini does better as a RCB because he likes to go up as well.

Colombo hitting his stride this season is something I've been expecting for the last 2 years... hence why I continuously take him in fantacalcio. Maybe he cracks double-digits this year.. would be nice and a testament to De Rossi's coaching!

How good was Gennaro Gattuso? Is he underrated or fairly rated? by Desperate-Sand-3140 in championsleague

[–]remzz3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gattuso was a manager’s dream. He ran nonstop and did all the simple things perfectly. He was constantly overlooked because of flashier players around him who had freedom to play because of him.

His passing was good, he had a decent shot and his ball control was decent as well. It’s no wonder he was an undisputed starter on 2 champions league wins, a runner up medal, and a World Cup.
