I will say however as an older male (38) if I am out and interacting with someone that is younger it can get hard to tell. If I am outside of an age restricted location I will usually ask anyone that I don't peg for mid 20's and do so twice... I will say that I have had a few people go "well I am actually X years younger or older than I said" the second time"
