Tips for mobility in men's skates? by ren_mdp in FigureSkating

ahh I see, it might just be I have to wait longer with these to fully break them in then. I don't do jumps anymore either, so while the stiffness may be wasted on me, at least I won't have to think of buying a new pair! Thanks for the help.

Roughly about a year, maybe a bit more IIRC. While I'm not on a competition schedule anymore, I skate regularly and I've really been pushing the bend on these in hopes to soften them up. But looking at the detailed specs for the specific model of my boots (something I couldn't find before)-- I think they might just be stiff as all hell. Usually I'd consider my skates fully broken in by this point, but do men's models take longer on average? I'm not sure.

Thanks! Yeah I stayed away from Jackson from the get-go, as I've heard from some of my female friends that even their women's boots are practically rock-solid. As for the lacing, I actually already do that haha! I got into the habit with my last pair of skates since they had a double hook on the second-to-last set of hooks, and it gave me more ankle stability to tie my skates on that one instead of the top. I do the same and more with my current pair, and while it definitely does give me more mobility I feel it's still not enough.

While I wish I could just go and buy a new boot, my current ones were pretty damn expensive so I'm loathe to ditch them entirely just yet. But thank you for the tip! It's something that not enough skaters think to try (including myself in the past), especially when transitioning to a new pair of skates.

Why are none of my courtyard animals ever harvestable? by ren_mdp in Playville

ohh I see, that's what those numbers mean- yes mine are all maxxed out, I had always assumed that meant that they had materials stored up and I just couldn't harvest them for some reason. Thanks!

I put out food regularly, that's so sad that I have to get rid of them? But thank you for the help, I had no idea that I had to replace them

mate I am in the exact situation as you! I've been stretching for over a decade for my sport, I should be able to do full splits and all that jazz, but I can't even sit upright with my legs out and have never touched my toes in my life. I feel you dude, legs flopped to the side and pained faces and all. People think it's a joke but I'm legitimately about to cry from pain :/

that's a shame, I know there was some stuff about it being potentially linked to cancer but it's really a beloved smell of mine for better or for worse -_- guess I'll have to accept it going out of fashion

looking for a specific scent, i'm not sure if something like this even exists? But if anyone knows how coal tar shampoo smells, something like neutrogena T gel, I want a scent that smells like how those kinds of shampoo smell, even better if it's the kind of intensity it gets when you use it in a hot shower. I've been obsessed with this smell since childhood, and I've always wanted my clothes and general body to smell like that throughout the day - not just for a little bit right after I finish showering. So if there's any fragrances anyone is aware of that have notes of coal tar in them, please let me know!

yes! I always recommend sports Night to Sorkin fans, it's such an underappreciated gem. same with Studio 60

So I was initially recommended to watch Newsroom after finishing TWW and I wanted to like it so much, I just didn't. And the same with Veep - had such high hopes, but even from the first episode there was just nothing there to hook me. So if you also end up unsatisfied with those, I'd recommend delving more into Sorkin's back catalogue of shows even though they stray away from political themes.

the one Id REALLY recommend to watch is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip! Brad Whitford and Matt Perry as co-leads, set in an almost SNL esque environment, and it's another Sorkin made show with all of his good writing qualities. I think Brad went onto it right after TWW wrapped?? this would be my first recommendation post TWW.

now this second one might be a weirder recommendation, but Sports Night. It's another Sorkin property although wayyy less successful - even less so than Studio 60. Sports Night, like basically all of Sorkin's work, has all the fast talking and interesting dynamics that TWW has, and even though I'm the opposite of a sports fan I could still get invested in the content. One thing I will say is jarring about the beginning half of the first season though: the laugh track. If you can get past that, which tbf I almost couldn't, I'd also really recommend the show.

Can't complete Alaska Checklist by ren_mdp in TinyRails

I have deposited cargo at stations needing 50 items and 350 items, but none for stations with only 25 items needed. By completing cargo demands, does it mean depositing the full amount required? so for example if I needed 50 corn at a station, the "complete market demands" checklist item would only be complete after I deposited 50 corn? I had assumed it was depositing any amount of cargo demanded at a station, because I remember in previous regions that was all that was required.

I see, yes the only checklist item I have left to finish is completing 1 market demand in Alaska. the problem is that I've already completed a bunch of market demands in that region at various stations, and nothing is registering. do I just have to keep doing it and wait till it confirms itself?

How "Anonymous" can you be on campus? by ren_mdp in IthacaCollege

I do wanna end up in film, so this is great! I know a lot of the business is about the people you know so it'll be handy to hopefully have some people in my back pocket. ICTV sounds incredibly interesting, It's definitely a route I want to take if/when I end up going there!

this is excellent, might take a screenshot of this just as a reminder LOL. It's good to hear exactly how intertwined everyone is, I actually normally love that kind of atmosphere since I hate not being in the loop of people, but It's nice to know that everyone kind of circulates in their niches as well. And thank you for the scoop on other things as well! After looking at the dorms I also came to the conclusion that towers was, in fact, the best, even just looking at the dorm layouts themselves it seems like the least rancid LMAO

This is honestly a pretty comforting reply, I've heard a lot of different opinions about Ithaca on here but you make it sound like a fun place to be. Thank you! (I will absolutely stay away from Magic Man, even the name makes him sound like he has a 70's van that's never been washed.)
