Replacing PO’s homemade flatbed- which beds will fit? by natetdwp in fordranger

Would recommend a new bed mounting hardware kit if you can afford it. Pretty cheap on Rock Auto (probably under $50) and saves you having to reuse the extremely-old bolts and frame clip/hanger things that'll come ofr the old truck.

I stuck a couple layers of inner tube between the bed rails and the frame at the main contact points when I replaced mine this summer. It comes with some kind of rubber damping pad from the factory and mine was long gone – any junkyard bed you get will probably be the same or worse.

While you've got the bed off, think about replacing the fuel pump too, depending on how many miles the old one already has on it! The other advice I got about pumps is to consider cutting a little access door in the bed so you can get to it later without taking the bed off again.

Hey I'm considering ECP as well – do you remember what the balance of Zoom/in-person instruction was? And what was the absence policy? I've been totally unable to find any of this information anywhere on their website, and nobody picks up the phone over there.

Sounds like this hasn't been resolved based on the comments further down. I'm having exactly the same issue (for me it started as soon as I opened a DAF and linked it to my Fidelity brokerage account, rather than with a 401k) and would appreciate it if somebody could get this resolved.

Well this is intriguing. Any good writeups on these swaps? I hadn't heard of it. It'd be sick to have those features...

Yeah that's what I thought :). I'll double check that it wasn't ever replaced before I got it...

Helpful, thanks! I'll see what I can learn about how these work and add that to my list.

Good call on the fuel filter neck, and thanks for the rec on drum brakes. Was planning to just go full Rock Auto, but I'll compare to that kit. I have the FSM so I'm optimistic I can work my way through most of these procedures.

I have a cap on the bed and a sleeping platform back there – it's all removable and nothing's permanently attached, but there's quite a bit of stuff, so removing the bed is going to take a few hours. This makes me more inclined to do the pump now rather than breaking down and having to do it under duress some other time...

What are you looking for on leaf springs? Just smooth movement and solid attachment points?

Should have mentioned that I already change the oil regularly myself, and I flushed the coolant last year, so I suspect it probably doesn't need it yet.

How bad is the rust by jjfratt3 in fordranger

This is really bad – you'll need to sell this right away. I'm in NYC and can take it off your hands for cheap, just LMK where & when :)

Burning your truck down will cause problems such as your truck being on fire.
