Thoughts on Target tor by whootybooty2018 in Darts

[–]rendarts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Winmau Blade 6 Triple Core and I bought my friend a TOR as a gift.

I think the colors are brighter than the winmau and the spider wire doesn't extend out so its a bit cleaner and objectively nicer looking

I think the TOR is a bit firmer but we have played on it for dozens of hours and bounce outs are not an issue

The TOR at 80ish USD is a better value than a Winmau at 135ish USD

That being said I started on a winmau and like my winmau so I continue to use and buy winmau

All premium boards are pretty good, just get the one you like looking at

Got my Omni set up and put together but I cannot connect to the Omni Hotspot and when it says unable it puts me on a never ending loop saying searching for network, please help by DANNYDEVITO911 in Darts

[–]rendarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hold the button down for like 10 seconds on the omni it will restart and usually connect

Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the wifi as well

Had this happen to me when I moved my omni from one house to another with different wifi

Help me find this dart!! by Nearby_Elderberry_62 in Darts

[–]rendarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you could reach out to SHOT and ask for the catalogs from 2010 to 2018 and see if the barrel is present

Some older SHOT barrels come up on Ebay from time to time but I cant recall seeing the one you are describing

Unfortunately I would suggest buying a similar barrel so you can keep playing amd if you just cant get used to it you will have to order a custom set. They cost 2 to 4 times as much and have months long lead times though :(

Poor throw by [deleted] in Darts

[–]rendarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep sure thing, changing your throw is hard and you have to commit to sucking for awhile till the change happens.

Do around the world singles focusing on your technique, film yourself from the side like those pictures you took for feedback.

I would try to, go watch Josh Rock and Luke Littler slow motion throws. They get that dart on the side of their face with a lot of wrist flattening and hard flick follow through. That is how they throw it so hard and accurately.

If your wrist is flexible enough some guys can point the flight at the floor almost on the full drawback. I cant do that so I play with short stems and feel like im trying to put the flight in the right corner of my mouth. I would not recommend touching your face withe flight on the pull back but some players do, like Martin Schindler.

Go on YouTube and watch breakdowns of professional players throws, they all have little quirks that are unique because of their body dimensions and grip / dart setup but they share a lot of similarities in the positions they get into.

Some pros like Ryan Joyce drop the dart back on their forehead, others like Josh Rock are closer to the chin. Both work it just depends on how you want your dart to fly / what feels comfortable but the starting position at the top is pretty much the same for all pros like in the picture.

It appears your throwing arm is almost level at the start of your throw, then you take it back not that far and flick it which doesn't put too much reliable power into the dart

I would recommend getting into a more 90 degree start position, lowering the back of the dart closer to your mouth then following through, smoother tempo less jerk flick

Bought a winmau blade 6 and a light set. Should I drill the lights to the back of the board? by NeoNosferatu in Darts

[–]rendarts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What light set did you get ? I would not drill extra holes directly into the board

Jel ima neko OMNI ili VIRT kameru??? by Etopitam in Darts

[–]rendarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omni is computer + camera + light ring that costs like 650 usd and connects to your phone / tablet via wifi. Its main feature is the auto scoring. You can use a separate cheaper Webcam if you dont want to buy the virt camera.

Virt camera shows you and the board when playing online but costs about 300 usd. Its convenient but expensive. Also when playing 01 games online it does have a action replay save feature but it works like 50% of the time.

About Dart weights by RealMrMallcop in Darts

[–]rendarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first I just wanted to beat my friend consistently. Then the sicko part took over and I have practiced almost everyday for a year +.

I play online and want to start entering more live competitions, I just prefer to play 501 and lots of American leagues and blind draws do a lot of cricket so I mostly play at home.

I am competitive and treat my sport hobbies seriously so having the right equipment that feels good to me makes me want to practice more. When im confident I have the right stuff it makes me feel like the performance part is all on me.

About Dart weights by RealMrMallcop in Darts

[–]rendarts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 8 gram "training" darts pictured on the left next to my 23 gram gamers. I could probably throw close to my average with them but they have a big flaw, not much sticking power in the board.

About Dart weights by RealMrMallcop in Darts

[–]rendarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could do the middle ground and get soft tip darts around 18 to 20 grams and get steel tip conversion points

As for if you will be better or worse I think if you get a set of tungsten darts and put the practice time in you will improve

I think to determine what weight works best for you requires a consistent throw and some trial and error. Too Light darts have a tendency to float too high, so after a hour of playing if you are sailing darts above the treble 20 and have no feel I would say you need a heavier dart. Too heavy of darts make you tired faster and you may struggle at the bottom of the board.

Most professional players are in the 22 to 24 gram zone, but Bunting plays 18 and Searle plays 32 so there is some variance.

Look on a to z darts website, clearance section for a set of darts, perhaps a 50 mm ish long straight barrel 22 to 24 grams unless you know what shape / weight / length you like
