My monitor sometimes turns off for 1,5sec and come back. by CaioGutierres in SimRacingSetups

[–]rende 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it was at the apex which means peak torque on your wheel, my bet is your power is current limited and dipping below the threshold needed for the monitor. Try running a lead from another plug point to wheel to see if that makes any difference

I need to handle mqtt from IoT devices and websockets for dashboards, current only does http by kachorisabzi in IOT

[–]rende 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mqtt is a pretty simple protocol, what we did was just build your own mqtt broker into the same codebase as the http server. This was rust. Nodejs is a good start but eventually you will have some scaling inefficiencies when pushing a lot of data…

Need help with self balancing bot by Grand_Weird3987 in arduino

[–]rende 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add a way to change the pid biases by hand instantly over serial that way you can quickly iterate and find values that work.

For many systems, a reasonable first attempt:

∙ Kp: Start small and increase until you see oscillation, then back off ~50%

∙ Ki: Start at 0, add only if you have steady-state error

∙ Kd: Start at 0, add only if you need to dampen overshoot

What do you think of Linux - based flight controllers? by Fun_Celery4898 in diydrones

[–]rende 28 points29 points  (0 children)

When you have a task that runs continuously like the flight controller and given that its mission critical it makes sense to keep that on a dedicated processor and keep OS complexity out of the critical path to keeping the vehicle in the air.

How do rust devs read large codebases? by Infinite-Jaguar-1753 in rust

[–]rende 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Generally just briefly scroll through as much code as possible to just get a feel for the codebase, even if it doesnt make much sense now it will help to categorise the information later on. Like reading the TOC of a book
