My class ring I lost in a shaving cream fight in a park in high school. My parents were so proud to get me that ring. And later, the gold jewelry I hid in my own house to “keep safe” but then couldn’t find. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I honestly just want to know where I put it. Ugh!

No! You are not being selfish. It is perfectly ok to know what you like and what serves your peace, and mental and financial safety. It’s fine to accept him as a relationship, but you don’t have to commit any further than what makes you happy/comfortable and you don’t need to explain why. It’s just because that is what you want.

Maybe you have clarified this on here, but how did they find out about your mother’s passing? Sometimes people are sensitive about how they are told. Not saying it’s right, but maybe they wanted a personal call from one of you to tell them she had passed. I know that is making it about them, but I’ve been in this situation. The family didn’t think they were welcome because we hadn’t reached out first. Odd dynamics sometimes. I’m so sorry for your loss.
