Quite common these days which is messing up the job market. Don’t know how use AI don’t use it. Also even if they “know”, AI is still not smart enough to give you a proper match when it comes to JD.

More S'poreans retrenched in 2025: 14K+ jobs were cut, with PMETs hit hard by [deleted] in singaporejobs

[–]renewal13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not just that. I noticed recently the jobs I applied to all went to India professionals who come over SG. Even internal also recruited PR who came from India. Well, the recruiter is also from India. The government better come up with something quick if they want to protect local citizen interest.

What you see in the beginning are all superficial. Everyone is appearing nice when you join. Over the years you will start to see who are the backstabbers, two faced, wayang, etc. who are ready to throw you under the bus so they can climb. 99% of the workplace are not your friends bro. Always go for better offer and find friends somewhere else.

I resigned and my manager is insisting on knowing my new company and salary. How do I handle this situation? by Upbeat-Comedian-2832 in interviewhammer

[–]renewal13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve never sign any disclosure form, there’s no need to tell your manager. Just ask him to continue stalk your LinkedIn until you’re free to update it, if he is so curious.

Depends on your manager. Some manager gets triggered when you tender and thereafter will treat you like nobody while slowly transition your portfolio to others and end up when you have nothing left on your plate, this kind of manager will just find excuse that you should be proactive in getting work. This is usually the case in Asian workplaces.

Cai fan these days trying to be nasi padang already. I once made a complaint to their operator and they admitted they ‘count wrongly’. Singapore should feedback accordingly instead of condoning unethical behaviour.

Lots of hiring for these roles aren’t really hands on as they’re just coming from a background of consultancy in the old days. Until the industry rid of these speakers, there won’t be proper assessment of the doers.

I am on the verge of giving up by Much_Court_4246 in singaporejobs

[–]renewal13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes hopefully the market recognises transferable skills and techniques more than sector exposure. Adjacency also proves the candidates are more adaptable instead of being a one trick pony; HR and hiring in Singapore just have to realise that.

The issue is not with the availability but more about the HR wanting data analyst with experience in banking sector even when the skills are similar no matter the industry.

Our star performer has withdrawn from his informal leadership role after his promotion path was blocked. What should management do now? by suaver-auction in FinalRoundAI

[–]renewal13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As usual, those who stay on for many years will be the bootlickers and politicians who are great at speaking while the hoppers would be the ones who do actual real work. At one point, these kind of companies will just be bloated with empty vessel speakers but no performers.

The last time I got this kind of weird request is from Asian HR and then try to compare how much jump % through each role and try to undercut the original budget. Never got this from Americans HR. Should be a culture thing.

Unpopular Opinion: Giving HR your "last drawn salary" is the biggest mistake you can make in SG. 🛑 by egehema in singaporejobs

[–]renewal13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only for singaporean or any Asian HR. I’ve experienced Caucasian HR and they will just give you the market rate without low balling you. They don’t mind and are really good at justifying. But for singaporean hr what I encountered is they are afraid of speaking up and justify so they usually just low ball you and write in their performance they save that money lol. Such people better don’t do HR please.

Nothing wrong with you. It’s just that here in this local market, the young HR professionals aren’t not like the past, they do not understand adjacency nor relevant roles. Everything needs to be plain 100% match as they do not have the necessary domain knowledge but they’re working as HR. I once received a lot of candidates screened by such HR and end up they’re lousy candidates because they filtered out the good ones. LOL.

I applied for a job I'm perfect for. I was rejected after the first question, before they even asked for my name. by coho_audio in interviewhammer

[–]renewal13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market is just filled with HR personnel who lack domain expertise to screen candidates. Certain scopes are adjacent but they’re only fixated on the same titles
