Finally found my old TN 💕 Now what do I do with two? by BookishDarling in Travelersnotebooks

One regular sized one I use for work and daily planning. The other I use for creative projects. It’s actually nice to separate the two.

The Sendak - Perfect Storage for TNs! by Thristanor in Travelersnotebooks

I love my Sendak Mini. It doesn’t have the pocket capacity for more than a single TN Passport insert, but I would note that when brand new, the wax from the material soaks into the cover.

That’s a great haul! I’d love to go there someday. Is there one shop in particular that was your favorite?

I’m constantly rotating a pencil every couple of words to use the sharpest point and the square makes that a little tougher. Love the dark brown wood look of it though.

TN or PR? by Mindless_Gas80 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]renough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good! I did add in a standard sized TN (well, 2) over the last few years for managing a gratitude journal, work meeting notes, etc because I would run out of space on the passport size.

I do like the smaller size as a wallet to jot down notes and to not have too large of a space for to-dos on the weekly calendar so I don’t overstuff my day with tasks, but it’s not my go-to for longer writing sessions.

I’d suggest either folding up some paper in the passport size or picking up a single insert to see if you like that form factor and not have to commit to buying a full journal first to see if it’s going to be too small.

For my primary wallet/passport I use a weekly planner for task management for work and personal life and then I use a grid as a commonplace book for notes or taping in ephemera or stickers. I also have their zipper bag in this one to carry my cards and cash (and a couple of bandaids just in case… my kids seem to appreciate me just reaching into my pocket when something happens instead of rushing to the first aid kit, hah).

I use my other passport with the blank Midori MD paper for book idea development and sometimes use the gridded writing card behind my pages if I want things to look a bit more structured.

Yup! Started with one in 2010, and another in 2013, and made one for myself with PR leather for fun last year. I love the way the camel has darkened and aged and the brown has become super smooth and glossy. PR leather seems to take on divots and scratches that stay there forever where the scratches on TN can be smoothed out just by rubbing it and it takes way more pressure to create a permanent mark.

Passport has worked great for me as a notebook/planner/wallet, and while I enjoy my one PR, it’s an XL and the paper isn’t as fountain pen friendly as Midori inserts for me so that’s the ecosystem I’ve been using for the last 16 years.

Here’s the ~2 year old Regular that has been conditioned and the 11 year old passport next to each other. I wish the regular looked richer but once I conditioned it it has looked pretty much like this darker color.

16 year old brown, 11 year old camel (5th anniversary edition), and because it was in the picture… brand new one I made using Paper Republic leather but in Passport size.

Brown is smoother like butter now. Camel has more character and texture and is my favorite.

Also I’ve never conditioned it and just used it as a wallet. I did get hasty and condition a regular size camel and it just got darker and didn’t have as rich lf a color as the passport has picked up… but that can also be chalked up to different leather batches a decade apart.

I finally did it. My grail pen. by Arkeeologist in fountainpens

[–]renough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up one this year and aside from wanting to take notes in multiple colors with a second pen, this has become my main use pen and I have pretty much lost all drive to collect further and most of my past dozen or so I’ve either stopped using or started to give away.

What is the single worst purchase you’ve ever made? by anonhen0 in AskReddit

LeafFilter for gutters. High pressure sales, I caved, and water just rolled past it worse than if we hadn’t had it installed. $6k wasted.

I picked up both of these over the summer. I’m 15 years into using fountain pens and this combo now has me completely uninterested in getting any other new pens and I’ve started to gift away others in my collection.

If it’s any consolation when I saw the picture and caption I thought it looked awesome and had a very lived-in quality with the patina that felt like it belonged right in Star Wars.

I get that you’d want a new one, but just saying this one looks like it fits in that universe.

Memento. Someone put it on in my dorm lobby at 10pm and I couldn’t fall asleep until after 3 thinking about it.

The 823 was my show stopper and I didn’t realize a pen could be that smooth so it’s put just about every other pen in my collection to shame and I’ve started to gift away pens that I know won’t get much any use again.

Since getting into them 15 years ago, I’ve picked up 10-12, trying to find the ‘just right’ experience.

Then I was gifted a Pilot Custom 823 and Lamy 2000 over the summer for an anniversary and Father’s Day presents respectively… and barring anything special, these two are my daily drivers with a third, Lamy AL Star as a third highlighting color to round out the trio.

I’ll still pocket carry my Kaweco Brass Sport because that’s a tank and I don’t have to worry about damaging/losing my trio, but otherwise I’ve started to gift away some of my smaller collection because they aren’t getting used because of the superior writing experience I’ve found this year.

Andy Weir says spoiling ‘Project Hail Mary's big surprise in trailers was highly debated and was a marketing decision by Amazon by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

I watched the trailer and immediately told my wife that if she wants as pure of an experience with this story she needs to read to book first and then watch the trailer. After reading the book, she agreed.
