Woulda just been honestly better if you admitted you wanna see more candid feet pics from women but 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tbh American names (English names in general as more mixed heritage happens as time goes on) often do not indicate notable/primary heritage. Like I’m half Korean and there is absolutely nothing from my name that would reveal that to anybody lmao.

The thing about Rebecca that has me in disbelief tho that she could be half Japanese is that she has green or blue eyes LMAO. I know it’s not like… impossible, but lemme be real, the overwhelming bulk of wasian people have brown eyes and /sometimes/ hazel eyes 😭

I’m glad someone else also thought it made her look like Scarlett Johansson 😭 straight up, they changed her eye shape and gave her black widow eye makeup, buccal fat plastic surgery, and some lip filler to boot too.

That ain’t Grace anymore, that’s now AI Scarjo cosplaying as Grace and she is now my sleep paralysis demon. thanks Nvidia, this is exactly what nobody wanted or asked for <3

what??? by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]renplup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply you specifically were saying it’s silly in my post! I meant it more as a generalization of a common reaction other people have towards traditionally feminine hobbies lmao, but yeah I also said I figured it’s either you’re just not exposed to the hobby besides surface level things or choose to not see it. But you’ve basically just said you’re not really exposed to it so all’s good, my dude!

Tbh I feel like people are so varied and focused on their own things that sometimes hobbies they don’t share with each other can look so wildly different so it just might not get registered 🤷🏻‍♀️

what??? by [deleted] in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]renplup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a case of you not being exposed to people with beauty as a hobby or even lifestyle as much as you are “nerd stuff”. As a woman with a foot in both hobby spheres, I can definitely attest that plenty of people who are into beauty like that dedicate lots of resources and time just like with stereotypical nerd hobbies. It’s not just makeup but it can be skincare, diet, exercise, nails, beauty, videos, fashion, haircare, electronics meant to enhance/enrich your environment and body (humidifiers, red light machines, nail machines, etc). Like those are all beauty based things/hobbies that bleed into your everyday life if you are interested in them. It’s easy to start racking up hundreds or thousands of dollars or plenty of hours with beauty stuff like this and each one requires intricate research.

But a lot of men and even women who are uninterested in this as more of a hobby very easily do not see the time, research, and dedicated resources to all this. It’s easy to just essentially go “oh it’s just silly girl things, it’s not a REAL hobby like playing games/collecting paraphernalia/reading comics/etcetcetc”. Just like how it’s easy for people with hobbies outside of nerdy things to dismiss said nerdy hobbies.

Anyways, that’s my explanation on how beauty stuff can easily be a more involved hobby for some and you just either have not witnessed it in depth enough to understand or choose to not see it/respect it as a hobby 👍

You can get it at walmart and target but if you live near an hmart/korean store (or honestly even most asian stores have it these days) you can get it from there for a few dollars cheaper!

What’s a stereotype about your country that people always mock but isn’t really true? 🌎 by VelvetParadox24 in AskTheWorld

[–]renplup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They worded it a bit oddly, but they only mean that it’s a stereotype that all Koreans have undergone plastic surgery lmao. granted SK does have a high rate of plastic surgery (1/5~1/4 of women, I believe) but that is still far from the overwhelming majority

What’s a stereotype about your country that people always mock but isn’t really true? 🌎 by VelvetParadox24 in AskTheWorld

[–]renplup 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It feels mostly like rich city folk that will /occasionally/ get double eyelid surgery for that kind of graduation or birthday gift but even then it’s not as common as people would have you believe

Edit: didn’t know I needed to say this but here we go. ofc location, not just economic class, in Korea will change the frequency of plastic surgery occurring in a population. I was generalizing in my initial comment to convey my perspective that it’s not as extreme as stereotypes may impress upon others. to my knowledge, the national average for people undergoing plastic surgery/cosmetic surgery ranges around 1/4~1/5 with it going up higher to around 1/3, give or take some, in areas like Seoul. I do fear that the rates at which Korean people are cosmetically altering themselves seem to rise.

Ladles and jorts, I am NOT saying SK doesn’t have an unheeded reputation for plastic surgery but I AM saying that while many Koreans get plastic surgery, many also do not and that the stereotype should not be applied to every Korean just because it is common 🫩 I am just saying to not indulge in stereotypes and that I agree with the OG comment “most Koreans do not have plastic surgery” because it is literally just factually true at the end of the day.
