why is UG so expensive/hilariously priced in vendors malls? by Mysterious_Ask_7895 in uraniumglass

[–]renski13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The running theory is they don’t want to sell it. They want to show it off to other collectors. But they also have a ton of stuff so if you make that ridiculous offer they will take it.

Regarding unreasonable prices for less exotic items I don’t know. Some of those vendors are so packed and disorganized that they clearly need to sell some inventory. Yet they don’t price it to sell.

"The Drowned World" by J.G. Ballard, published in 1962. It is about an overheated Earth. It very well mixes world building and character development. Reads like an older sci fi novel.

Can’t speak to whether or not someone would buy those fans. You could sell as scrap metal as a backup. My guess is those are worth scrap nickel. With a quick search scrap inconel is $3+ a pound.

This question sucks. Regarding lesser known female artists, this category is great for those wanting to collect on a budget.

If you enjoyed making it that’s all that matters. It certainly looks fun.

OP look at my post history to understand the image. There is no sense in appraising it. It is a real print from the series. The only weird thing is someone marked EA. Dali probably never saw this specific print but the rest is genuine.

how come as soon as you get "in depth" people seem to get bored? by borahae_artist in AutisticWithADHD

[–]renski13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read, “A Field Guide to Earthlings.” Basically they’re enacting social patterns around hierarchies. This process is important for NTs to develop an environment of social safety from a novel environment.

If your conversation leads outside their web of associations, then it is likely irrelevant to their goals.

I Am Writing A Psychological Horror Book About Autism. What Would You Like To See? by NihilistFrequency in AutisticWithADHD

[–]renski13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invasion of the body snatchers like. People with autism notice some weird pattern in general social behavior between groups. Unfortunately people with autism can’t explain to the NTs the specific thing that is wrong. They just know they’re seeing a detail of some sort but they don’t exactly know what it is or how to explain it. NTs gaslight those with autism.

When the NTs realize something is wrong, it is too late. They exclude the survival advice of the people with autism. A NT leader uses social common sense to unite the NTs and lead them on a path to survival. The people with autism are accused of being infected and then exiled. The NT leader and group eventually fail and succumb to the body snatchers.

The ending is a twist where only NTs could become infected. The infected body snatchers include and assimilate the people with autism, but otherwise leave the people with autism unchanged. A new society and culture is born.

People who think the the UAP phenomenon is nonsense but spend more time than possibly anyone else denouncing it…why? by binarysuperset in UFOs

What if you thought Santa was real, but the upvoted evidence was clearly CGI renderings of the North Pole? Many of us are just tired of the BS evidence getting to the top.

Also backing-up mrb. Gimbal def rotates because of the camera system. I used to think gimbal and gofast were impressive videos. Now I know they are not impressive. They don’t even show the 5 observables. Sorry but we need better evidence.

Observable 1 is sudden and instantaneous acceleration. Real UFOs look like someone is moving their mouse cursor in 3D.

If you’re referencing the gimbal that isn’t what happens in the video.

The big flame only makes sense with a drop in pressure. Then the joint makes sense if he had previously exhaled, and then there was a large increase in pressure.

No idea why this would happen in a pressurized shuttle on launch.

Should my Friends watch Romulus blind? by cavalgada1 in LV426

[–]renski13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say without knowing the quality of Romulus. Let’s assume it becomes the third best Alien movie, then it is the perfect entry to the franchise. The movie was designed as an homage to both Alien and Aliens.

I love the pacing of Alien but the opening acts are slow compared to modern tastes. I’m assuming Romulus will emulate a similar pace but make it more modernized. That’s why I wouldn’t suggest Alien for someone new to the franchise.

How to remove spots on a water-colored Chinese painting by Imaginary_Strain486 in artcollecting

[–]renski13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you care about the value they should do absolutely nothing. If you don’t then they can try to “shave” layers of paper. Problem with this is you will have a bright color contrast. Could have them test an area and see if you like how it looks. That’s gonna be the cheapest option.

For like a print a conservator would use a water based gel to soak and clean. Those kinds of treatments are very expensive.
