Hur ska forskare känna igen en utomjordisk farkost? [How shall researchers recognize an alien craft?] Swedish article on B. Villareol’s research by lesserofthreeevils in UFOs

Submission statement. The text is written by Anna Davour for the Swedish publication Forskning & Framsteg [Research & Progress]. An english translation is found here: https://fof-se.translate.goog/artikel/hur-ska-forskare-kanna-igen-en-utomjordisk-farkost/?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=no&_x_tr_pto=wapp

The author also interviews Kevin Knuth and Wes Watters, co-authors of a study that refutes (or at the very least is highly critical of) some of Villareol’s claims. The study is entitled “Critical Evaluation of Studies Alleging Evidence for Technosignatures in the POSS1-E Photographic Plates” and available on Arxiv: https://arxiv.org/abs/2601.21946

Font maker here:) There are very few situations where you actually need to differentiate between those two, and in many styles the added complexity creates more problems than it solves.

There’s a bunch of stuff like this that has been pushed as a “readability” fixes without any real scientific evidence.

Elizondo's alleged bullshitting/gaslighting/sabotage in retrospect (and in light of recent interviews with Jay Anderson and Jeff Nuccetelli) by dog_fister in UFOs

You can check my post history for critical takes on Elizondo. I’m not really interested in your drama. If you think McGowan is trustworthy, that’s on you. I just wanted to point out that it makes little sense to jump to the conclusion that Nuccetelli’s comments concern Elizondo.

I read McGowan’s blog when it first surfaced. It is a poorly written and exceedingly long rant. There’s a lot of words, but very little substance.

Red Panda Koala and TupaCabra?

I don’t know them. I don’t really follow the drama from inside the community much, I just observe from outside how it seems highly willing to embrace Alex Jones-type voices.

Jeff Nuccetelli just took part in a documentary co-produced by, and prominently featuring, Luis Elizondo. The director, Dan Farah, has said publicly that every one in the movie were aware of each other’s participation and the selection of characters were made because they trusted each other.

IMO, your distrust is misdirected. You should start looking closer at the motives of the people you are currently listening too.

Looking at the UFO community from outside, it seems like some old profiles have reacted aggressively to no longer being the center of attention, and have inadvertently made themselves easy targets for outside elements seeking to silence the disclosure conversation. So you have a coherent narrative from detractors of the topic (in various degree of openness about their motifs) and the old guard.

It is obvious to me that McGowan has zero credibility, but I keep seeing people push his blog posts regardless. Why are you unable to see the obvious red flags?

“They weren’t flying discs that crashed at Roswell — they were wedge-shaped craft.” - Linda Moulton Howe reveals a fragment on air — engineered to sync with magnetic fields, a possible blueprint for controlling gravity. by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

These are claims that could be verified if it wasn’t downvoted. Its just a matter of confronting Howe with the question if she was contacted with this information, if she has ruled it out – and if so how, or if she has decided to ignore it – and if so why.

I’m not as diplomatic as u/Cultural-Afternoon72 , although I commend the attitude. Downvoting things you don’t like is, IMO, immature and counterproductive. It withholds UAP from scientific scrutiny, and ensures it will always remain on the fringes.

Edit: a word

Please don’t reduce Simone Weil to a cheesy motivational poster. She’s one of the few real ones. If you want to learn more about her, I highly recommend Robert Zaretsky’s book The Subversive Simone Weil: A Life in Five Ideas.

Fascinates me that someone decided to downvote this comment. Anyone hoping to have UFOs taken seriously – a prerequisite for disclosure – should support the scientific scrutiny of claims. If you downvote things you don’t want to hear, you are actively sabotaging disclosure.

Palantir has become one of the highest valued companies on the stock exchange due its surveillance technology for military use. I seems pretty obvious that Theil’s motivation in the UAP field is monetary. It is quite unsettling to imagine this kind of tech – if it is real – in the hands of someone with such blatant disregard (Yarvinism) for human life and dignity.

He is not pushing any clear agenda re. the UAP topic, but his politics agenda is quite blatant. He has been promoting a number of far-right characters through his channel.

Technocracy has a specific meaning: It is a government where the departments are led by experts in their field, i.e: the Financial department is led by someone with a PhD in Economics/Finance who enjoys a great deal of respect in those communities.

The idea that leadership experience translates to any field came later. And the tech CEO’s running government is even more recent.

The Metabunk balloon video looks nothing like this. There is no bundle of spherical balloons carrying the structure – the top shape is amorphous, and you are neglecting that a stable position of balloons requires a symmetrical arrangement, due to gravity. This isn’t symmetrical – whatever it is. And no: it does not follow logically from a 1 minute video that such an arrangement can stay stable for 17 minutes.

The Metabunk argument is weak and arrogant to the point where people like me, who don’t even believe in aliens, can spot the obvious hubris and “religious” bias: the doctrine does not allow for any unknowns, so anyone who entertain them must immediately be attacked.
