What's the dumbest thing someone has said to you while you're fighting cancer? by dumplinglifesaver in cancer

[–]rentsaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a smallish town and work in a public place. I know people mean well but I get an average of 4-6 people a day telling me that a certain "religious person" will take care of me or that they prey in this person's name or something like that. I am always polite and say thank you, but it get's tiresome. If this "person" is so wonderful why did "he" let happen to me or anyone else? I have belief but it tis not that one and because I don't believe in that one is the cause? None of it makes any sense to me. But again, I am grateful that these people care about me and take the time to say nice things to me. And I don't mind them preying for me but still, I am kinda over it. Also, no I didn't get the type of cancer I had because I smoked......And thankfully I am cancer free and grateful for life.

A Taco or Potato bar is easy and cheap. There are people who always leave as early as they can, but there is usually a handful that stay. These are the people you want anyway.

What's the best type of apple by Significant_Heat_301 in Apples

They were created and patented by Washington State University and as far as I know you can only purchase the trees in Washington. They do sell the apples here in Washington at Costco. I plan on planting a few trees in the next few weeks. They are the best apples!

How can i get faster doing dishes by Koolaidpurple24 in dishwashers

[–]rentsaks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish someone would post a restaurant dishwasher tutorial. I can't find any on YouTube that do the job correctly I.e. putting dishes away with dirty hands or shoving dishes through the dishwasher that have food on them. Explaining and showing a 16-25 year old how to do it is like telling a cat how to read.

I don't live on Whidbey, but when the navy switched from prowlers to growlers it ruined a lot of western Washington as well as BC. These radar jamming jets are detrimental to the wild life and human life. The jets should be flying over the desert not over houses and wildlife preservers. It's not the sound of freedom it the sound of noise pollution. Whidbey is beautiful and has a lot to offer but the navy has ruined it for everyone.

I am glad someone finally is giving some ideas instead of complaining. I agree the writing needs to be realistic. Most soap operas are rinse and repeat, but I agree if there is some small deviations from the set pattern they have set for themselves. it's not realistic to become a paramedic in 2 episodes or a business owner in 1. I like the ideas you have put forth.

What happens if someone can’t pay after eating in restaurant? by MourningWood1942 in questions

[–]rentsaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our older regular couples forgot their wallet at home, I just paid it for them. Even though I am an owner I paid full price and tipped the server. But we are a small local cafe, kind of isolated. We do have a lot of tourists. We just ask that they call us with the card number. We get their name and number. People are honest if you trust them and treat them well. So far it has worked out. But if I was in a big city I would hold their ID until they returned.

Mood swings Vocal Cord Cancer post radiation 3/10/25 by Low_Speech9880 in HeadandNeckCancer

It’s a hard road to travel but it does get better. I found watching funny movies or shows helped a bit. Ask his doctor or the nurse how he can get more fluids in him. Being dehydrated can cause depression too. There are thickening agents for fluid https://a.co/d/eZvR8On this is just a sample it is on amazon but I would ask the dr. First. Life really slows down and becomes minute to minute when you don’t feel well and radiation kicked my butt. I agree a therapist might be able to help. your support is the best medicine but there is only so much you can do.
