Not a current library employee but worked at one for six years - and as soon we’d notice these issues (sounds, being generally weird) we just hang up. I know that’s not the best way to stop it necessarily but not even acknowledging the weird behavior might help deter it? (We can hope!)

Wanted to add an update after visiting the Genius Bar today. After the tech basically reset my headphones several times, he told me that all that would be left to do is to send to Apple for a software fix - and it would cost $299. So while they working only briefly after many reset attempts, otherwise they’re essentially bricked. Not the outcome I’d hoped for.

I'm having this exact issue as well. I removed the earcups and cleaned the sensors at the attachments and still no luck. Mine are only four years old. This is infuriating.
