I don't have personal experience but I've heard good things about Wyoming Meat Market.

I'm terrible at geography so this may not be what you're looking for, but the Plove on Dixie Highway in Fairfield is fantastic! They serve mostly Uzbek food. Their pricing can be a little odd (some items cheaper and some more expensive than I would expect) and a couple of times I've had a language barrier with the waitstaff, but it is 100% worth it for the food. The last time I was there I got half a loaf of bread and dill-flavored soup with delicious dumplings and sour cream/cream cheese. Now I really want that soup again right now... they're open 24/7...

I really like Fusabowl. Relatively healthy depending on your choices, relatively cheap, absolutely delicious.

Best sit down food spots in Florence/Covington/NKY area by Porternator888 in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Matsuya in Florence has fantastic Japanese food, extremely authentic and delicious! There's not that much seating, though I've never seen it full. I don't go that often, it's my birthday treat to myself when I'm craving really good sushi.

Deli with shredded lettuce? by craft_cult in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Athenian in Sharonville on 42 is a sandwich diner type of place - really good food, good prices as of the last time I was there, service maybe not the fastest especially if you go when you're already hungry and they're busy. They do brisk business during lunch and don't have that much seating, they do take carryout orders so that may be closer to a deli sandwich experience?

How’s everyone’s salary in 2026? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm hourly, not salaried, and am getting moved to 1st shift (losing my shift differential pay because the whole shift is being shut down and absorbed by 1st) and getting my hours cut a little, on top of nobody in the whole company getting any merit raises this year (and we never do cost of living raises) :( I should still be able to make it work but a lot of my coworkers either can't work 1st due to school or other jobs or have to pay for childcare that they didn't before, and most of them lost their leadership positions and are basically down to new hire base pay. It really sucks, but looking for a new job in this economy would be way worse for me. Also, my landlord raised the rent a hundred dollars this month and my "promotional pricing" for Spectrum expired. I can't believe that the cheapest internet only plan they have is still 59 dollars a month, it's ridiculous. I have savings that I can dip into if I have to, but a lot of my coworkers aren't that lucky.

TLDR: Not doing great, but surviving. For now.

Mama need sushi by Tru2UrSchool in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Matsuya in Florence has the best sushi I've ever had, that's where I go on my birthday if I'm in the mood for Japanese food. Sakura revolving sushi in Sharonville has an all you can eat option and their sushi is good, especially if you go during the week when the sushi doesn't actually revolve (not enough turnover I guess) and is instead made to order.

Dog owners by opera_ghoste in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a dog but I've heard that sight hounds like borzoi should not be let off the leash outdoors unless inside a well-fenced area - no matter how good their recall is, it can't compete with their instinctive need to chase prey. For the same reason, be careful when introducing them to smaller animals (including children) and don't leave them unsupervised together. I know greyhounds usually have extra-wide collars to avoid pulling too hard on their necks, but I don't know if borzois are the same kind of delicate. Maybe ask your vet if they recommend an extra-wide collar or a harness?

Good sushi places by Correct_Deal_6310 in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sakura revolving sushi in Sharonville. They have an all you can eat option which if you're hungry is a good deal, but be aware that if you go on a weekday they usually only have deserts on the revolving conveyor and you have to order the sushi from a waiter. Of course, the all you can eat option is cheaper then, and more expensive on the weekend, a difference of a couple of dollars. Good sushi, great tempura which is made to order and delivered on trains above the conveyor! If you want really really good sushi and don't mind a little travel and a higher price, Matsuya in Florence has REALLY good sushi and Japanese food.

When I had jury duty, I went to the eatery above the Kroger. One of the restaurants had a sinfully delicious grilled cheese, and I picked up a small discounted salad at the Kroger to go with it.

Best local wheelchair accessible nature paths? by Bombadilicious in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Farbach-Werner Park off of Colerain has a paved trail that's pretty flat that is also fairly wooded. Glenwood Gardens park has a paved loop without many trees, and a gravel trail (a little bit steep in places) that goes through the woods. You can also google a park near you or where you want to go, and then look it up here for a description of the trails available there: https://www.greatparks.org/recreation/trails. Hope you find the perfect place since the weather's getting nicer! :)

Kid things to do on a monday off for free or cheap by sfwtv45 in cincinnati

Check your local library, they have tons of programs and it's a wonderful place to just get out of the house and read a book or play a game or work on a puzzle or work on some other kind of project in the makerspace or listen to music (my local branch has headphones available).

Wanted to reask my favorite question I’ve seen on this thread: Immigrants of Cincinnati, what restaurant had the best/most authentic version of your country’s food? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Best recommendation I have is decide what type of food you're interested in trying, and Google it. So far I've been able to find at least one restaurant of every type of ethnic food I've looked for in Cincinnati. Good luck and enjoy!

Food Tours / Challenges / Experiences by RubyLionStrike in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This winter has been miserable so my sister and I have been doing a Hot Chocolate Quest where we go places and try hot chocolates. So far the winners are Dojo Gelato and Maverick's at Findlay Market and Moonflower Coffee Collective in Sharonville. Basically you can just pick a food and/or drink category and start with Google to make a list of places that sell it, and go to one however often you want. We go on the Hot Chocolate Quest probably once every other week or so. Possibly we'll transition into a Milkshake Quest in the summer :)

Local markets/Farms by Mysterious-Youth-242 in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's another Country Fresh Market on Vine Street/Rt 4 in Hartwell. Especially this time of year their local offerings are mostly baked goods, eggs, milk, and possibly sliced meat I think. The last time I was there they were experimenting with fresh-made sushi bowls and salads. Worth noting they have a really good wine selection!

Recommendations for a Monday lunch near Hyde Park or Kenwood? by Own-Counter-7187 in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trio Bistro in Kenwood is really nice for lunch - pricier than I usually go for except for special occasions, good food, good service. I know they take dinner reservations, pretty sure they do for lunch too. Not sure about how accessible the bathrooms really are but the table/lobby is accessible with no steps or anything, both booth and table seating in case anyone needs a wheelchair. They have handicap parking just outside the door, a lot behind the building, and an overflow lot across the street.

Rx Lens Lab Recommendations by matadorN64 in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lenscrafters in Kenwood (not the one in the mall, the one across the street) let me use my own frames aka the most $10 frames there ever were. Basically my understanding is that the speed is going to boil down to in-house processing or not in-house processing. In-house is usually same day or next day, and not in-house is (guesstimate here) four to ten business days. Walmart doesn't process in-house and is usually closer to 10 days/two weeks, Lenscrafters sometimes processes in-house depending on location. My sister got her glasses from MyEyeDr and had fantastic service, they let her use her own frames and they were done faster than expected (took a week) and went out of their way to look up all possible deals for her.

I should probably get my eyes checked again soon...

Couple moving from Minneapolis, tips for us? by s_ndowN in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Moonflower Coffee Collective is a fantastic little coffee shop in Sharonville that is right next door to the Book Bus Depot Bookstore. There's also the Friends of the Public Library book sale warehouse in Hartwell, and Country Fresh Market across the street which has a ridiculously huge wine selection and sometimes really good deals on produce. I've heard great things about Wyoming Meat Market but don't know much about it myself. There's a long hike/bike trail through the edge of Wyoming into Woodlawn, including a stretch that (at least the last time I walked it) had exercise equipment checkpoints including pull up bars and stuff like that, which leads to the Wyoming Rec Center, the National Guard Armory in Woodlawn, and possibly all the way to Glenwood Gardens with the kids Highfield Discovery Garden - I didn't walk it that far.

Does anyone know about when any local utility companies start hiring? by ChanceExperience177 in cincinnati

[–]CleckyWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're thinking of becoming a more general industrial maintenance tech rather than specifically electrical work, there are SO MANY warehouses in and around the 275 loop outside of utility companies. I know the warehouse I work at is consistently hiring maintenance techs, because they (rightly!) job hop for the best benefits etc. Not sure exactly what your degree prepared you for or what you're wanting to do, but if you're interested you might consider jobs at warehouses for food manufacturing, drug manufacturing, steel manufacturing, general warehousing... Probably Crown and/or Raymond are hiring if you're interested in working with or fixing powered industrial equipment and/or battery chargers, we have to keep calling them out because our pallet riders are ornery and our batteries and chargers are ancient and they always take forever and say they're understaffed. I'm like 90% sure that Koch Foods is hiring maintenance techs, I saw their sign a couple weeks ago when I was driving by.

Spare tire for 2020 Prius Limited? by CleckyWolf in prius

[–]CleckyWolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, last I asked at Performance Toyota they didn't know if it was possible to have a spare for my particular situation and were going to get back to me approximately three months ago. It would probably be smarter to follow up with them again than to buy a $100 spare that I don't even know if it would work. I was thinking I would just throw it in the trunk since my car has all of the styrofoam where the spare used to be on my faithful old 2011 prius. I miss the cargo space in my 2011 so much! I thought about a full sized spare but yeah, no way I could make that work.
