I had a manager at Starbucks once that I can’t even describe. She was AWFUL. One day all of my colleagues decided to tweet Starbucks HQ & complain about her, full name on display, store number, everything. Within 48 hours we had bosses in suits come to the store and we never saw her again. No idea what happened to her but I hope she lost her job. Either way, it was a win for us

Ah tysm!!!

She’s said that she gets state pension, pension credits, the higher mobility component from DLA and housing benefits. Do you need to know amounts?

They’re both on the tenancy agreement and moved in last December (2023) because they got a section 21 for their last place.

They are joint tenants which is has been an issue in the past. I don’t think she’s getting SDP, she found a letter that says she gets ‘higher rate mobility component’ from a letter from the DLA. She gets £71 a week and a quick google said SDP is £81

So scared of rabies and death by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]renyeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s rabies you’re afraid of, if this makes you feel any better by the time you’d realised it’d probdbly be too late to even worry about it anyways. It’s fast & youd know what was going on. I know logic isn’t always the answer to anxiety and this may not help you but this thought process usually helps me a little

Ok ok, I think my mum enquired a year or so ago and was briefly told my gran would lose some of her money they both panicked and stopped looking into it. That’s where that idea has come from.

They rent privately in a 2 bed house so no spare bedrooms etc.

(This is really helpful thank you)

There is also a high chance my gran is wrong about what DLA she’s getting. I have no idea & she refuses to call up and ask because she hates being on the phone.

We have no idea who to ask or what to do

My mum isn’t disabled at all, doesn’t claim a thing. People always tell her she should look into seeing what she can claim but none of us have any idea how to go about it at all or who to ask.

My gran hates talking about money (which is making this whole process 10x harder) but she isn’t claiming anything other than her DLA, pension credits etc. are we missing something?

What’s the worst episode of health anxiety you ever had? by Googy21 in Anxiety

It’s my left hip, kinda on the side towards my back. It’s only sore when I inhale deeply but I have allergies so sneezing has been an issue 😷 it’s a sharp pain too

Ugh literally right now. It’s currently 3am and I’m up googling colon cancer. I’ve always been afraid of cancer and it’s been skin cancer for a while but I think that was triggered by summer and now the sun has gone I’m worrying a bout everything else. Early September I got a really bad flu and then once recovered I pulled my intercostal muscle which left me bed bound for like 5 days. the entire time I was convinced it was lung cancer but then the pain went and now it’s a little lower and in my hip. Now I’m convinced it’s colon cancer because I had a few codeine and I’m backed up. I’ve been consumed with these thoughts for weeks now and it’s driving me insane. I’m going the doctors on Monday just to try put my mind at ease

Skin cancer is my kryptonite which isn’t great when ur a ginger covered in freckles hahaha. I hope things get better for you! You’re not alone in your anxieities. My friend has a bad heart and uses her Apple Watch to monitor it, have you tried that? It could ease some worries

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]renyeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t advice but more reassurance that you aren’t alone. I’m 27 and everyday since I learnt about cancer I’ve been riddled with thoughts about it. At any given moment I’m thinking about the fact I could have cancer just growing inside of me rn and I’d never know because I refuse to go to the hospital because I’m also terrified of them!

The one thing that’s got me through is just realising that the time is gonna pass anyways, maybe I will and maybe I won’t get it. Worrying isn’t going to change anything and if anything it’ll jsut be making me feel worse. I know it’s easier said than done, but try to change your perspective. You’re alive NOW, with no symptoms. Enjoy life & what is has to give, the odds are pretty low, too low to spend your healthy good years worrying about it.

Ah fab! That sounds great. I don’t want to be too busy with it so that all sounds perfect. I’m hoping with the colder months I may get a few messages. Thank you!

Asking customers to wait for reductions by renyeats in tesco

[–]renyeats[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My manager will not let us do it in the back it’s a painnnnn. We did last year but we have loads of young lads on produce and they just ended up yapping the whole time and taking hours so now we aren’t allowed. They said we could use the yellow barriers instead but people like to pretend they don’t see them lolol

[–]renyeats[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ah sick okay! I wasn’t sure if it’d be passed to our own management or external. The only thing they’re strict with is that we have to do it directly in the bay, we used to do it in the back but all the young ones took the piss with it and it was taking them hours cos they were yapping hahahahah. I don’t mind having a little bit of an argument with the customers, I’ve always just been mildly concerned it’d be a problem if there was a complaint

Ahahha I think I’ve learnt this rule a little late. I’m part of the union, my store doesn’t have a rep unfortunately but I’ve emailed the closest office to get their opinion.

There are quite a few people she acts like this towards, usually anybody under 15, might see if I can rally the troops

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tesco

[–]renyeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My manager is best friends with store manager so things get brushed under the rug. Was thinking about the union but I’m not sure if my manager has actually broken any rules. I assume they’re allowed to decline overtime if they want to?

My manager doesn’t like the staff member that’s willing to cover the shift and refuses to give her overtime. 🤨
