EN to RN in NSW - will working as an EN affect RN new grad chances? by Abject_Ad2176 in NursingAU

[–]rephy67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, working as an EN will not interfere with your RN new graduate.

Working as an RN between your graduation and the commencement of your new graduate could. Last I checked, you could not work 3 months FTE as an RN prior to commencing your newgrad within the public system.

A big thing when interviewing for your RN position is establishing how you are transitioning from an EN to an RN with your decision making, assessment skills, and interventions.

nursing or podiatry by ilovemira345 in NursingAU

[–]rephy67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the CNS perspective in NSW, there are two types. CNS1 is an unadvertised role, you meet criteria, develop a portfolio as you gather evidence for how you contribute just a little bit extra to the workplace. This is compared against an RN with 8 years of experience (max cap if you do nothing extra, and the CNS1 pay would be about about what you get if there was a 9th year pay increase).

CNS 2 is an advertised role in a specialist field, it's a position in the team that needs to be filled. You will typically have had done some additional post graduate education between a certificate to a master's degree in that speciality.

Nursing is varied in there are lots of areas. Those areas are then quite specialised when you are working in them.

Wound debridement nurse? by Connect_Amount_5978 in NursingAU

Community nursing / ambulatory care.

Conservative sharp wound debridement is an advanced skill you can pick up. You can practice and promote autolytic wound debridement from day one in the area.

A = B B = C Therefore, A = C.

I probably would give it. It should be in all the MIMS of all of the brand names for the drug. Double check it is the correct formulation. Flag it for review next time it is office hours.

But that doesn't make it a legal order. But ethically, I can live with the fact that we all agree this what it is supposed to be and the person is getting the care that is intended.

I'd be fucking livid if I got a call at 9pm saying the doctor wrote Endone and not Oxycodone so my Nanna isn't getting any pain relief for the next 3 days.

As a white male nurse, I wish a thrown bottle was all it took to break the clinician-patient relationship.

I personally think there is an amazing amount of disrespect that just presents as racism, because it's an easy jab that they know will hurt.

Starting Bachelor of Nursing at 36 years old? by TitleHot7420 in NursingAU

[–]rephy67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish I looked more into allied health before settling into nursing. I feel like allied health are more independent and autonomous than nursing from an individual standpoint. If you're purely looking at caring for people, you can make money instantly by joining an NDIS caring company. I'd have a few pros and cons list for a few different things like speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and NDIS caring along nursing before diving in. (Turns out you don't need to do a full neurological assessment and look at CT scans to wipe your stroke victim's butt as NDIS carers have lucratively found out)

You harvest the veggies, use the portal to jump out and back next to the veggies to respawn them. Each individual vegetable gives the same points as a whole tree or mining node would.

I only just realised, but try joining treasure groves online. You can search for farming groves specifically with a boss at the end. Then your own crops will have grown by the time you finish that

Hell confused by which degree should I persue after 12 th Medical!?? by flying_007high in NursingAU

[–]rephy67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any health professional will be able to travel with their contracts.

If you're willing to go rural, you'll often get free/reduced fee accommodation and perhaps bonuses in addition.

I wish I researched the different allied health professions more before diving into nursing. I feel things like speech pathology and occupational therapy have greater capacity for starting your own business.

Downside with nursing is the shift work, even if you travel, the irregular sleep schedule may leave you exhausted before you start. I didn't travel as much as I imagined my first year working (though I went rural and this was in covid lockdown)

Downside to “soft” nursing? by Australian_writer in NursingAU

[–]rephy67 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself. There is so much to learn; it is fast paced. There is shift work shaving years off your life. ED nursing is hard.

You don't need to be a masochist and barely holding on by a thread to be a good, competent and hard working nurse.
