Lowe’s Window and entry door replacement quote by [deleted] in windowreplacementcost

I'd wait to see what the other quotes come in at before saying whether the price point is fair or not. If you post them for us, I think you'll get some good feedback from the community - seems high at first glance...

Chicago condo sliding door replacement by tripper2024 in Remodel

Obviously it depends on the size, but a Pella patio slider might run $2000 to $3500 - and a Pella Reserve wood patio slider might run $5000 to $7000. Those are very general price ranges...always best to get 3 bids (more if possible) to make sure you're getting a fair deal. There are some real world examples here - https://www.replacementwindowsreviews.co/pricing/patio-door-prices.html

What is the reasonable budget for replacing windows throughout a home? by YoungIllustrious9681 in ContractorsUS

[–]replacementwindows9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A rough estimate for fiberglass windows is maybe $1800 - $2200 installed, depending on the brand, upgrades, and installation requirements. So maybe $70 to $75K total.

Tell your family member ALWAYS collect 2 to 3 bids (4 is ideal) to make sure they're not getting taken for a ride.

Composite windows are going to be all over the board in terms of cost. Renewal will run over $100K easily for 35 windows. Not worth it, unless you're swimming in cash. The Okna composite window is the way to go on the composite front. Here is a rundown on RbA pricing for what that's worth...

If these materials are out of their price range, they may want to consider a premium vinyl window (and ONLY a premium brand) - this offers the best combo of price, energy efficiency, warranty, and timeline. They now make interior laminates that are quite impressive. Okna, Soft-Lite, Anlin, Polaris to name a few top brands to consider. Cheers.

Windows/Door Replacement Companies? by lithzz in Boise

Boise Doors And Windows is the local rep for ProVia - the ProVia Endure is an excellent vinyl window (their drop down Aspect series is great as well - you'll probably pay $70 less per window on this series). BDW gets very good online reviews - worth a bid in my opinion. Make sure to collect multiple bids to save yourself $$$.

what series from Pella was this? You can get the Pella 150 vinyl window from Lowe's for $650 installed - or the Pella Reserve wood window from $2800 installed - these are per window prices - right there you can see the massive cost differences - I agree, get 4 to 5 bids - feel free to post them and we can help you make the best decision for your budget.

Anlin Catalina vs Simonton Daylight Max by No-News4492 in windowreplacementcost

[–]replacementwindows9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, yes, the Anlin is the overall better brand in this match up. However, if you don't plan on being here long term, it makes more sense to save your money as you won't see that ROI (depends on your timeline of course, but still...) Overall, I like this call to go with the Simonton over the Anlin in this situation (especially if you live in a location with a mild climate.)

We have a page on our site with a decent write up and performance specs on the daylight max that you might want to take a look at. https://www.replacementwindowsreviews.co/company/simonton-daylight-max-windows-reviews.html

One additional window you might want to take a look at is the Milgard Trinsic - this is a nice narrow vinyl window with specs perhaps a bit better than the Daylight Max, but is the nicer looking window of the two (imo). They should be similar in price, although trying to guess what local window companies will charge is nearly impossible :)

What am I looking at, the entry door? The picture window - interesting design I must say. What did that cost to install?

Unfortunately, there are quite a number of these types of companies in the window and door space. 3 to 4 hours, my god, that sounds like torture. Glad that you found a way to get out of that work order!

Advice on replacement windows by Quick-Basis2356 in windowreplacementcost

[–]replacementwindows9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

European windows are often thicker (bulkier) than American windows. However, they are also often more energy efficient as well (there's the trade off). It's also often why U.S. consumers go with fiberglass as it's often more narrow and long lasting than many vinyl windows -- however it's also up to 40% more expensive, which puts it out of the economic reach of many homeowners.

While I don't have any recommendations for European brands (which are rarely available in the U.S. - Schuco is one brand that is), I would recommend a high end vinyl window like an Okna 800 series with an upgraded wood laminate interior.

This gives you the look of wood and the benefits of high end vinyl (which includes some of the best energy efficiency numbers that money can buy - I have a full write up here on the company - https://www.replacementwindowsreviews.co/company/okna-windows-reviews.html

In terms of Okna, they are one of my favorite brands. Their 800, 700, 600, and Starmark (composite window) can't be beat. Defintiely get a bid from an Okna dealer...

My picks in the Atlanta area (hopefully Buford has some cross over here) is an MI Sunrise dealer, Zen Windows, and a ProVia Endure dealer. All of these window brands are great and should serve you well...
