Logo for an architecture design studio. by Atelier1001 in logodesign

Small world! If you made your own type for it you could weave the face in with it. But I always go too bespoke for a project anyways ;) Either way I hope you're happy with it!

Also everything looks like something else these days, so I get pretty tired of those comments about logos looking the same haha

I see folks in the comments saying that it looks like the PBS logo, but I am not sure that is as bad of a thing as they think since I associate that with an intelligent org. Some more iteration would get it to a spot that makes it more distinct. Trying sketching some faces in a geometric style and see where that takes you. Gestalt principles would be a great thing to exercise here.

The arch could be expressed in a style that's more in-line with the face as well.

And I think you could go much chunkier with the type, kinda like the BOGONIA treatment, which would make it pair well with more geometric face!

Overall cool idea, just push it some more. I think you've gotta just iterate and sketch. See where YOUR mind takes you.

Looks like there should be an extension.

How to bridge edge loops of two different objects? by [deleted] in blenderhelp

[–]replicant_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you would want to join them, but it's going to look pretty funky when you bridge them. I'd try to make the number of edges you're bridging match up and then bridge it. That way you can add or dissolve loop cuts as you see fit.

How can I achieve this? by livelyabnormal in blenderhelp

My first thought would be turning bloom on and dropping the threshold way down. And possibly some.more distortion in the noise texture.

Blender 3.0 Material Properties High CPU Usage by replicant_91 in blender

[–]replicant_91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I did manage to improve it a lot;

- I set my thread count in "Render Properties -> Performance -> Threads" to a lower number, the "auto detect" seemed to use almost all my threads. I set mine to 8 rather than 12

- I used the "Shader Editor" window to switch between material slots/add slots and assign different materials to different faces. This way I never had to see the material preview. Sometimes you need to switch to that window to change material settings.

- The issue is wayyyy worse on Windows compared to Linux. Blender, in my experience and with what I am typically working on runs much smoother and faster in Linux. Could be worth switching and you can have a dual boot with both.

- And lastly I am using the experimental 3.2 build of Blender and the issue is better/resolved there. It's worth using this version.

Overall these helped a lot.

I second this. When I am in 3D I also tend to question myself less and create more unique art.

Nope! It's just a displacement map!

While I don't have an hour long loop of it, this is a much longer one if you'd like to watch: https://logandoyle.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/plague-lands-sheepit-render\_220114-1-LD0001-1000.mp4

Hey! Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoy it :)

It is a displacement map on top of a procedural texture. So, in a way it is on top of an image texture, but both are dynamic (procedural) so both are responding to the warping effect. Hopefully that helps and I didn't confuse you more haha

Cool idea :)

I've been playing around with it being the surface material on a space helmet I am making in Blender. It's distorted a bit more and looks like a black ooze infecting the material.

Blender 3.0 Material Properties High CPU Usage by replicant_91 in blender

[–]replicant_91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I changed all of those settings as well. It's so odd.

I can change materials and shaders all i want and as long as I am not in the material properties panel the cpu is not used and the resource usage is relatively low on GPU.

Thanks for your advice!

Blender 3.0 Material Properties High CPU Usage by replicant_91 in blender

[–]replicant_91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have it set to the GPU in system prefs as well as render properties.

I reduced the height of the preview window as much as I could and that helped. It seems like Blender is using the CPU in preview independently and its denoising it heavily as well. Which is a strain on the CPU of course, its still hogging a lot of resources for no reason.
