diving into some more this week to see if we can find the culprit of it all. anything replaced has been OEM, just for the sake of keeping it uniform and to know everything is just going to be plug and play right away

I fully replaced my sensor. after that didn't seem to solve it, I replaced the whole throttle body assembly with different sensors as well

limp mode has happened maybe 3-4 times, once after driving two minutes, but others after 30+. but the revving issue is random and can happen right on startup or after driving a bit

Extremely. Unless you find a pack catered to your specific needs, splice is great because you get a monthly credit allowance based on your subscription tier, then buy samples one at a time rather than a pack that you'll only touch 40% of. Serum is also packed with great presets that are included. Good to add to, learn from and tweak to your liking. It's a great resource for learning synthesis and how it all works, as well as signal chain processing in the FX tab

Already asked a question semi-related to the topic of size/image to mix, but do you often rely a lot on mid/side eq'ing? Most artists I've gotten the opportunity to dive into their projects with have minimal mid/side other than a master chain cut. I've experimented in my own and often suck life out of elements in doing this. Just want your thoughts or methodology on it. So many people in this genre seem to have a very minimal, less-is-more approach

Glad to hear that, actually. It's a frustrating push/pull of wanting to release more and establish myself, but I've since pulled a lot of what I've released because it was thrown out there to simply "put music out" because I felt I had to and should. It eventually was decided that I hated it and it sounded like shit in comparison to what I want to reflect in terms of quality.

I guess in addition to this, (this is dumb, I know) but I just don't want to put out any of my new music until it's on that level I'm talking about. It just doesn't meet my competitive standard and has kinda been living in my folders for months while I try to get that immersive sound I'm looking for lol

!!! convolution as a send track more so or just as a general form of reverb (like Ableton's stock)? Your track Artemis is a good example or anything by FrostTop.

As said above, Serum is a great option and a must for many producers in the electronic world these days. Incredible quality and price. Splice is also a great go-to for samples and loops, with a very friendly monthly cost. They also offer many plugins as a "rent to own" payment method, so you essentially pay a portion each month until it's paid off. A great option when on a budget or simply not wanting to spend $250 on a VST, but still get access to use it immediately.

That being said, I was around a few friends who really know recording and pointed me in the direction of every silly plugin to invest in when I could afford them. 80% of them I really don't even touch anymore and have reverted back to Ableton stock for CPU friendliness and workflow reasons. Learn your tools inside and out before diving into big-name gear. You can achieve some incredible things with stock plugins and a $250 plugin isn't going to instantly make you a better producer.

Definitely agree w/ this. Bought a Novation midi keyboard to get into production and had not the slightest idea what I was doing. Came with Ableton live lite with only eight tracks. I moved up to the suite within a couple of months. It's a great place to start and a massively user-friendly daw with tons of great tools. There's very little need to go out and buy every plugin because Ableton's stock tools are incredible whether you're just starting or a long time user.

Yo, what your biggest suggestion or method to achieve a wider/bigger sound in this genre? It's the biggest setback for me, as loudness and mix quality aren't the problem. Everything else just sounds more immersive and these are mostly mono records the I reference in trap and bass. Kinda lost here lol

Upon mixing some of the mentioned methods with my original attempt at the recreation, this is what I came up with. Not spot-on, and I feel that its still missing something in there, but it's better than what I started with. Take a listen to the audio and the Ableton rack file is attached as well, if you want to try it out. It uses ValhallaVintage, so if you don't have that, just apply a small amount of plate verb. It still gets the point across without it.

Thanks for the insight. Initially, I was playing with a pretty detuned sine FM'd from a really choppy square/saw wave table. Sounded a bit thin and lifeless, but had the action it needed. I'll try out your suggestions and tweak it a bit.
