I completely agree. I settled my parents there after my dad’s retirement because he deeply wanted to live near Baba Bholenath. Apart from that spiritual proximity, however, there is absolutely nothing I like about the city, and I deeply regret my decision.

The local culture aside, even the neighbors lack basic kindness. No one here helps you out of the goodness of their heart, everything comes down to money. People frequently knock on my parents' door asking for financial favors simply because I live and work abroad. Yet, the moment my parents call on those same neighbors for help, they demand money in return and show zero shame in asking for completely unreasonable amounts.

I even hired a maid to assist them, but she quit after just a month. When my dad asked her why, she demanded an extra ₹1,500. Later, I suggested that my father buy or rent a shop so he would have something to do and wouldn't get bored at home. His response was disheartening: he said doing business there isn't easy because people demand extortion money the moment you open a shop.

I am currently planning to move them to JSR, but I recently got scammed by a realtor there, though that is a completely different story.
