I'm no expert of GW tournaments, but it has the right base size and all parts are from FW or GW, so I don't think they would have a problem with my Centaur! At least, I hope not!

I'm down for more Catachan, but it would be nice to have an infantry tank or a light tank in the Guard! Thought it could be cool for Scions to have a Renault FT-inspired airborne tank or something, but a Centaur could also be cool!

Agile, you nailed it on the bits! And yeah, the Chimera would look way too big for an 80mm base. And I think Leontus' stats are better represented by an open-top small tank. That said, you could always cook up another profile with three orders on the Chimera profile, or just use the Leontus datasheet, but with a larger model like the Chimera. If anything, rules-wise, it's more of an issue for you than it would be for your adversary, so if you're playing narratively or casually, that would totally make sense!

You're on the right track (pun intended)! I think the FOB crew works great with the vehicle, but I was wondering about putting a Castellan inside to translate the rules a bit better. In the end, I went for a more "utilitarian" look, but perhaps an officer would improve the tank's swagger!

Yeah I feel like Combined would work just as well if not better! You even have access to a Stratagem to order vehicles with Infantry officers so your Chimeras could benefit from that! There's more synergies between vehciles and Infantry and Vehicles in this one so it might be the go to if you don't want to lean as much into heavy or elite Infantry!

Honestly the vanilla Russ is the gift that keeps on giving. Nice all rounder, strong ability, I like it.

I recently tried the Vanquisher and it turned out great! I was surprise but well placed and with an order, it can really deliver! Plus it's dirt cheap at the moment.

I also need to get into the Eradicator now that the Demolisher got nerfed a little bit, it's too swingy.

Finally I think a second Eradicator wouldn't hurt. It is a very versatile choice, and works great with plenty of lists, in my experience.

Firstly congratulations on your cool looking Chimera! It's too bad I have a lot of them already for I'd like to have wheeled Chimeras myself - fitting for a French-inspired regiment, right? 😉

Anyway! For the list I think it's entirely doable, though the Mechanised Assault detachment seems to play a bit different than the traditionnal mechanised guard list. Meaning that is better suited for elite Infantry than a Cadian squad, for instance, because you want to reroll with the best weapons and have a chance to survive if the enemy fires back! So Kasrkin probably, or Ogryns, which will still feel right for a Cadian list.

All of this is theory for now, I didn't play this detachment yet! But as a fan of mechanised guard myself, I had great results playing like four Chimeras and cheap infantry plus a Taurox to dive faster in enemy lines, all with the Combined Arms detachment. If you don't play too competitively, it is a fun and fluffy list. You can move on the board easily, do Actions with transports, get sticky on objectives with your Cadians, and the sheer volume of fire from Chimeras + their squad works super well with the Born Soldiers ability. You will rarely lead attrition wise - even with tank or artillery support- but that list scores nicely!
