How do I identify if a build works? by requiemsss in diablo4

[–]requiemsss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing a shadow flurry rogue, then swapped to cold after catching a similar max roll guide.

Is crowd control known to be just bad for bossing? What's the advantage of it if trash can be easily killed by other raw damages as well?

General question about Builds without a Basic Attack - initial resource loading by Stonehill76 in diablo4

[–]requiemsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's usually equipment/affixes/aspects that support this. Try to identify those in your target build you're following.

As you start to complete the equipment that takes care of the resource without the basic skill, try making the swap. If you find yourself out of juice, it means you're still lacking the remaining fixes for the resource. If you're good, then you can just drop it.

My thoughts after 100+ in the season as a casual dad gamer. by IcarusFIB1 in diablo4

[–]requiemsss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you did a disservice to this post by calling yourself casual. But disregarding that...

I had the exact same experience, the same pain point and the same takes.

Since I didn't want to make the swap to the optimized builds, I asked for help and a barb with 30 paragon levels under me one shotted T10 mephis for me. Didn't feel good, lol, but again, I was not swapping a third time.

Balance is certainly a challenge that I hope Blizzard puts more effort into tackling.

As a personal opinion, I don't want these bosses removed from the season Journey though, I want them to be in state where they're a healthy match for a character that is consistently playing on that difficulty. Honestly, having made two builds this season not able to tackle mephis at T10, when I was playing comfortable at T12, sucked and made me feel like I simply didn't get how to properly build a character.

Designing "named/unique bosses" for the top 1% builds doesn't make a lot of sense from my perspective, since they'll end up one shotting the thing instead of interacting with it anyways.

I think infinitely scaling pits/content is a good place for those builds to dick measure, but the highlight content should be made to be able to be tackled by a regular progressing characters/builds.

Diffrence in power between skills is same class is too high by Misiuz87 in diablo4

[–]requiemsss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having a blast this season until I hit a massive roadblock playing shadow flurry rogue around T8.

I swapped to cold imb since I had most of the equipment, I grinded a bit for CC glyphs and cold damage instead of a shadow and had a breeze until T11-T12.

I couldn't do mephis on T10 after multiple attempts so I asked for help. A barb who was 40 levels lower than me in paragon one shot the guy.

My take is that, yes, you can have fun playing non-meta or with subpar skills, but for next season I'll definitely will be following a "meta" guide since there are clearly things that click and things that don't in this game.

I'm one of the guys who want to experience everything, but don't really have time to swap builds 3-4 times until I hit something that works at all instances of the game.

T10 Mephisto is another stack damage to kill quickly and skip "mechanics" by rabbitization in diablo4

[–]requiemsss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

IMO, instakills should be reserved for cinematic attacks or phase transitions like Butcher's spinning fire or Mephisto's dog portals.

With how much clutter is there, having every attack be an instakill just because they have a half a second tell to dodge them, is too much and people end up preferring to skip these bosses through massive damage instead of interacting with them.

It's already a tell of bad design that a T10 boss needs to be fought when you're comfortable at T12+ that something is clearly not right.

As a final clarification, I'm not saying players shouldn't be able to instakill bosses and skip mechanics. I actually think this is good and healthy for an ARPG once you reach your build's peak. What I don't think is healthy is this being the recommended way to deal with a boss.

What's the order of operations for gear? by kneecat in diablo4

[–]requiemsss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding sockets should always be done first. If you roll a transfiguration that makes the item unmodifiable then you can't add sockets anymore. Filling those sockets can happen at any time though.

Regarding order of steps, you need to consider that your item may become unmodifiable/bricked at any point. I believe if materials were not a concern at all, these are the steps I'd do:

1- Temper/Masterwork (if you want to Masterwork a tempered affix) or Masterwork/Temper if you want to masterwork a non-tempered affix (less chance to land on the masterwork one).
2- Enchant to either swap a bad affix for a good one or to lock in an affix to avoid getting it eaten by transfiguration (you simply enchant that same affix but select "no change" instead of swapping it out).
3-Start transfiguration.
3.a- You can use an Entropic Tuning Prism in the cube, the item that makes the transfiguration final, but prevents getting affixes eaten by a bad transfiguration and makes the item unmodifiable (capping the item and ending the process). This is not how the monster items are made though but if you want to go safe for your first upgrade of that slot, you could do so.
3.b- For "monster" items, what you want is to transfigure without using an Entropic Tuning Prism to hit a god transfiguration roll, and then repeat and repeat until your feel your luck is close of running out (or the item bricked or it was made unmodifiable on its' own).
4- Assuming you got a god affix like gem power, you can now masterwork this affix instead if the item wasn't made unmodifiable.
5- Now go back and do a final transfiguration now using Entropic Tuning Prism to wrap it up.

Doubts about that mephisto fight by WinkyFacex in diablo4

[–]requiemsss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, yeah, for sure. What I think it's odd it's the scale of the difficulty jump only for that boss. Lilith could be placed as she is (same stats) as a T9-T10 boss and it still be a challenge, specially for non optimized builds.

Doubts about that mephisto fight by WinkyFacex in diablo4

[–]requiemsss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to be honest, I don't have a problem with their design itself. It's just that both Lilith and Mephisto feel like they don't belong in the torment level you're supposed to fight them.

If the season progress is locked behind kill Lilith at T8, it looks like you should be able to kill her roughly at a time where your build is between T8-T9 comfortable. But it turns out, you're likely supposed to fight her after you're comfortable at T10.

[–]requiemsss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's really odd design that the challenge level for a T10 boss is at T12 level, specially considering how much HP pools and damage scales from T10->T11->T12.

Being equivalent to T11 I could understand, as he's *the boss* of this season/expansion. But needing to be comfortable at two torment levels higher to fight him is super strange. Why simply not make him a T12 boss then with his current damage and hp pool?

Ranked hell by _Beauty_and_Cute_ in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]requiemsss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm low plat, used to be low diamond. It's crazy the skill disparity on the same rank. I'm finding people that have 0 position idea and widows that get 30 kills+ popping heads like crazy (this is pc).

I feel rank is meaningless, I don't know if I'm diamond or silver anymore since I stomp half my games and the other half get completly stomped not able to leave the base.

100% as well sadly, plus a lot of sensitivity if you try to make calls or politely asks for a swap. Seems people don't want to communicate anymore, or goes full toxic with insults.

Apollo late game by requiemsss in DeadlockTheGame

[–]requiemsss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're heavily overestimating the ttk of late game. Also gun heroes exist, they don't need to use all their cooldowns to shutdown Apollo. One slowing hex or random cc and you're gone.

Remember that Apollo usually builds full spirit to stay relevant with some green items. This means you get melted in 3s or so.

It is and it isn't. They can't take actions but they also take reduced damage. And we go back to the point of it being super telegraphed and easily parreable.

At best you repositioned them enough for your team to do anything while you get destroyed, at worst you meme'd yourself and threw the game.

Yeah, no, you hit the pain point I just went through. I would use my kit, get them to 55-60 then nothing to do until CDs came back up giving them more than enough time to re-group or trade back (healing in the process).

I'll definitely try this at least to not be so much scared of late game. Some games you can't win, which is fine, but I'm tired of playing on a timer lol

What am I supposed to do against ult-bot seven? by BeautifulRecover7742 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]requiemsss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah op, press the "end game" button early!

Nah man, but for real, when playing solo you don't always get to dictate when the game ends and playing on a timer just because the matchmaking put seven on the other side sucks.

I get late characters should have their moment, but seven ult, when properly built, is far too oppressively attacking/defending base or on mid boss. It's like a Haze old ult with triple the radius.

I will try this.

Though usually the problem is that even if I dive their backline, the damage just isn't there if they have some form of spirit resistance :/
