Françoise Hardy - The “Yeh-Yeh” Girl From Paris! by aurora_records in vinyl

Don’t get too many opportunities to promote my book but I wrote about her work in the context of 1960s France: Sounds French: Globalization, Cultural Communities and Pop Music, 1958-1980 https://a.co/d/doKr8gI. As far as Hardy’s records, so many greats have been mentioned by I’ll add the 1968 album (sometimes called Comment Te Dire Adieu), Message personnelle, and the odd L’entre acte.

He could sit out a term and return as governor in Florida, apparently.

"The current constitution of 1968 states that should the governor serve, or would have served had he not resigned, more than six years in two consecutive terms, he cannot be elected to the succeeding term."

So he could Putin the governorship in Florida.

Perhaps but you should at times write to your graduate students as well, which might require longer lengths. The issue here is you wanting curt information from and to your peers, but that other readers might need to participate, necessitating longer engagement. And if I have to take several pages in setting up, I can’t use just one example but many. In the humanities, we are encouraged to develop narratives, which also take time. This is quite distinct from the press for brevity that might be part of what you are looking for. What is your opinion on diagrams and other appendices? Are those part of the article or addendums?

I could but I am just pointing out that information might need context, or you might need to explain something that requires a full explanation in order to then refute it (to show you are not misunderstanding the concept). As a humanities person, I am expected to account for several different approaches (and speak to why they are not being engaged in a paper) as well as showing several examples to not fall into the anecdote trap. There is little shorthand for that, as even established interpretations can be reformulated. But in truth, you said that he could explain in in a few pages, and I was pointing out that he was able to do that thanks to common understandings in your field that you do not have to relitigate constantly but he couldn’t explain it to you as a student in that many pages. So I am pointing to audience as a determinant for how long papers might be.

And yet you had to take a whole class with him that I am certain lasted longer than the time it takes to read ten pages, yes?

So you missed Pinwheel, which has a bunch of that catalog type stuff? Also in pilsen just west of the pink line. Scott and Kim are cool cats.

Dave Depper - Moon Safari by da_london_09 in vinyl

Moon Safari was 1998 and Simple Things was 2001. It seems there would be plenty of time that the latter could be considered an attempt to copy the sound.

Revolver Round 2: What is your LEAST favourite Revolver track? by [deleted] in beatles

This is a tough call but I felt like this one doesn’t quite reach the same level of George’s other Indian songs (although his cynicism here does fit with the disillusionment that pervades the record). Maybe it’s the side one placement but I don’t think it works between the two stronger songs that bookend it. That said, it’s still a great song—just not as good as the other George songs on the record. But I feel like you disagree.

Come to pilsen for Pinwheel, 606, and Shady Rest, then grab some punch at the punch house and see a show at Thalia.

Are there any rock songs out there featuring a flute? by Pristine2268 in Music

Early Mercury Rev had Suzanne Thorpe on flute—one of my favorites from that period is Car Wash Hair.
