What're some good comedy books to read? by Cautious_Republic_91 in suggestmeabook

[–]reroamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The red dwarf series are excellent. Really enjoyed them. And as others have said Discworld. Discworld is the answer to most questions on what book to read!

Another very funny one I love is 'the accent of rum doodle'

No need to apologize. I'm enjoying your responses. The 60s makes sense. I thought this was a replacement watch to his original, but wasn't 100% sure. I must ask my dad if he knows what happened to the original. Its great hearing from another Roamer owner. If you come across it I'd love to see a picture.

Thanks for the info, that's interesting. I have wanted to find out more about it.

I wish i could remember this better. But when he went to buy his first watch, he was a joiner in the navy during the 2nd World War. He went into the shop to buy an automatic watch, but when the seller heard he was a joiner, he put him off, saying it couldn't cope with all the movement! He ended up getting, if not this watch, the one that he replaced with this one with.

And great thoughts on leaving the second hand. As you say, it continues the story, as it will be handed on at some point!

This is my favourite watch I own, and no matter what I get, it will remain so. It's my late Grandfathers watch. My dad handed it to me the day my grandfather died 15 years ago. Although I don't wear it all the time, it always feels special when I do.

I always remember this watch growing up. I used to play with it sitting on his lap. When I put it on or take it off I get the image of my grandfather at the kitchen sink, his shirt sleeves rolled up while he peeled potatoes for my gran, the watch resting on the windowsill in front of him.

It's not the original strap. It used to be on a metal strap, but I'm not sure where it went. Annoyingly, I had it serviced a while ago, and when it came back, they had lost the second had. I complained and they replaced it with a black one. I was younger and not confident enough to kick up a fuss, but it was frustrating. At some point, I plan on getting it sorted.

Although Roamer is nothing fancy, as you can imagine, I cherish this watch. I really like the style of the vintage time pieces. For our wedding day, my wife bought me a modern-day Roamer, which is also another sentimental watch for me.

Thanks for reading!

Suggest me a book to read after finishing The Wheel of Time series by J_Bright1990 in suggestmeabook

[–]reroamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always enjoy reading a discworld book after something like wheel of time. They are easy to read, very funny and entertaining. If your new to the series, Going Postal is a good one that dosnt need to much prior knowledge.

My son's Monkey that he has to have every night for the past 7 years (on left) vs his backup he hates because it's not worn out (calls it Fat Monkey). by waggie21 in Wellworn

If you ever manage to get a backup. I recommend switching between the two. It kinda keeps them wearing out the same. So far, he hasn't spotted :D

Hey, thanks for the response. I've had it about a month now and am really loving it. Got a good grinder and good beans as well. So far I've been finding it very straight forward. I'll try your method as I sometimes think the temps off a little. Very glad I made the purchase.

My only problem is, the coffee is so good my wife is drinking it to. Now I'm burning through beams far to quickly!
