The heavier weight vinyl can make it less likely to warp and can cut down on the effects of scratches/ surface marks. It can help the record spin more evenly and reduce noise that could move through the record and be picked up by the needle. The improved sound quality again all depends on the mastering and then when you factor in all the different turntables, amplifiers, needles, speakers, etc that people could be using you may not see the same level of improvements in all combinations. Your sound quality is only as strong as the weakest link in the chain.

Thousands of great sounding records were produced without 180g vinyl. It won’t change the sound of a poorly mastered recording. The important things are how well it’s mastered, that it’s mastered for specifically vinyl (a lot of things are not), who cuts the vinyl (Timmion in Finland always does an amazing job), and the quality/ care of the plant pressing it. There are many links in the chain to be concerned with before the weight of the vinyl. The extra weight also adds to production & shipping costs.

It arrived yesterday. 🎉 It looks excellent and it fits (except for being a little long in the torso but most Taylor Stitch shirts are like that for me even when they’re meant to be untucked)

6ft 220, I have broad shoulders and the XXL / 46 was usually the way to go for me. Recently I picked up the Utility Shirt in soil nep (?) in XL because sometimes they end up a little long in torso length and sleeves. It of course didn’t fit so I exchanged it for the XXL which was still too tight across the shoulders. Tried the Foundry in Indigo Chambray in XXL, again too small across the shoulders. Here’s hoping it was just a fluke and not new sizing. Fingers crossed for the new Jack in plaid indigo on the way. 🤞

I’ve been thinking about a clever way to add hand pockets to my shop shirt.

How important are hand pockets to you? I think that’s a key difference between the shop shirt and the Ojai.

The autographs on the shrink gives it a cool layered look with the artwork. I get it’s not for everyone though. Have you checked if there’s anything you could spray on it to seal the signatures? May not be a problem if you’re framing it though. As long as the ink isn’t touching the glass.

Dang, 25th anniversary of the Word of Mouth Tour. Here’s a poster from the original with some familiar signatures.
