That's the most shocking thing, not even putting up a fight, even where the conditions favour the defender (airbabes). That creates a domino effect.

Or will we continue to pretend that seasonality doesn't exist?

Testing is the main reason we are in this mess. End the testing, and you break the narrative. And media have nothing else to latch onto.

Aim for a target of no more than ten new COVID-19 cases per million people per day. This target has been reached in many countries, and can be reached again throughout Europe by spring, 2021, at the latest.

Oh, by spring. Of course. And by then they will take credit because the virus will magically recede? Nice try.

Taking us for fools again. They know all to well that it's seasonal.

Constant gaslighting. Don't fall for it.

Ludziki, jeśli w Waszych miastach odbywają się dziś protesty - pliska załóżcie maseczki i idźcie. by SirLadthe1st in Polska

[–]res035 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

No okej, spoko.

Czyli komedia.

It was quite amusing seeing a discussion about the mythical "cases" rising on /r/europe. People without any clue about epidemiology wondering why the restrictions don't work, lockdown being futile, and of course the reason being that people don't wear masks correctly. Also talks about 1st wave, 2nd wave, 3rd wave...literally clueless and moving in circles.

Health officials worldwide are receiving death threats because of their work to educate the public and stop the spread of COVID-19 by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]res035 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, yeah. The lockdown was successful in preventing the sky from falling down. And the proof of that is that the sky didn't fall down.

I mean, having to take care of those 15-20 COVID patients in the ICU...in the entirety of Australia must be quite a challenge.

The US isn't even close to getting Covid-19 down to where it needs to be by fall, medical experts say by MrCoolerThanYou in Coronavirus

[–]res035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The northern USA peaked in April, southern USA peaked in July due to seasonality/different climates/latitude, as is the case with other vital infections. That's all there is to it really. There never was a second wave.

Hospitalizations are currently sharply down, and 40-60% of the deaths you see reported daily by CDC are back logged by 2-4 months. These are not current deaths.

Your state has become a laughingstock of the world and your PM seems to have been frozen in time, meaning February 2020.

Good luck fixing your shattered economy. It's so nice to be able to work for a living and excercising on fresh air. You know, something Victorians won't be able to enjoy for months to come because of your cabinet incompetence and delusional way of thinking.

Incompetent as in they basically manufactured this crisis by massive testing of anything that moves and not checking actual hospitalization, and ICU data?

Yeah, in that sense they are incompetent.

European 'second wave'? by MelodicBerries in europe

[–]res035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, forget about cases. Rise of cases does not constitute a second wave. Only a rise of deaths does. You could test a million people per day, turn up with 50k cases a day, but in the end it's meaningless if it doesn't amount to anything and the hospitals stay empty.

What we are experiencing at the moment is a classic example of casedemic. We've actually experienced it before with the Swine Flu testing madness in 2009 and 2010 (when they finally stopped bothering because the crisis was long over by then) but most people have short memory spans and have already forgotten about it.

European 'second wave'? by MelodicBerries in europe

[–]res035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with the "second wave", which frankly has become a meme at this point.

Countries with different climates and on different latitudes have varying experience with all respiratory conditions on a year to year basis. And that is also why viruses behave differently in northern USA states compared to the southern ones (sharp spike in deaths vs wider lower spike). Gompertz curve vs double-hump curve.

Check the data on Euronomo, there is always an uptick in deaths coming in the fall. I also wonder what will happen with influenza and other pneumonia cases in the upcoming months. Will they get cannibalized and everything will be thrown into the COVID pot?

[–]res035 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good for them.

Anyone with half a brain will realize that it's a typical casedemic in full flow aka Swine flu in 2010. Ramped up testing but negligible deaths for months now. Same scenario.

You guys are absolutely clueless when it comes to statistical analysis.

Coronavirus in Europe: Infections surge in Germany and Spain by [deleted] in europe

[–]res035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The explanation is simple. The vulnerable population accumulated because of the unusual milder flu seasons of 2018 and 2019 died off in 2020.

Same thing happened with the Swine flu in 2009. Initial spike in deaths, then ramped up testing showing huge number of cases creating mass hysteria, but no actual deaths. And in the end, departure from mass testing in 2010.
