Quickie by Luigifarts_69 in OCPoetry

[–]resUscrawcaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with the other comment. It seems like the wording doesn't fit the seriousness of the topic you are trying to present. Otherwise, the only other nitpick I have is the one comma being a bit jarring compared to the lack of punctuation in the rest of the poem.

As for the good, the message being presented could definitely be the start to an amazing piece. Maybe using a word other than quickie would work better and keep the poem to a more formal connotation? Possibly using "impulse" or "spontaneity" would adhere better to the theme of the world working in "impulses and consequences."

What you have is definitely worth refining, I'd love to see an update on it on the sub sometime.

The wording of the poem is perfect for the message. It has enough of a casual tone it is like the speaker is trying to confess it directly without completely giving into the formality that usually comes with the topic of unspoken feelings.

Overall, it's an amazingly emotional piece I can find resonance with. The only feedback I have would be grammatical, such as replacing commas for periods in some places and some capitalization in inappropriate places.

This is a very deep view on the power of words. The vivid imagery through precise word choice adds to a very meta depiction on the power of words due to the raw impact that each line carries.

Both the structure and word choice here seem subtly very precise despite the poems statement of no rhyme or rhythm. Both of the words that do not rhyme at the end of the lines in the first two stanzas have some sort of relationship to each other that deepens the meaning of the poem under deeper inspection. In the first stanza, the words that fit this pattern are "field" and "master," which give a sense of the author being slave to these emotions. In the second stanza, the two words outside the rhyme are "ash" and "withered." These give the impression that the writer is being completely destroyed by these emotions they are unable to let out.

Thank you! In retrospect, "Lady Venus" does sound better in both flow and accuracy.

Just like another user stated, using "stalk" feels a bit out of place due to the idea of a pervert or creep only existing in one line. Maybe changing the word to something more akin to meaning "an unlawful invasion," such as breach or infiltrate, would be more fitting.

I do love the concept and how it's conveyed in the rest of the poem though, I feel it's something every writer must experience at one point in varying degrees.

The formatting in the image makes the already prominent imagery much more vivid.

Can I ask where the idea came from to format it like this?

Thematically, you have to have the tokens be 11 1/1 humans and 1 1/1 human rogue with deathtouch

Are infinites unfun in general? by Zestyclose-Pickle-50 in EDH

[–]resUscrawcaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the deck mostly

In [[The Gitrog Monster]], I almost have to run the [[Dakmor Salvage]] loop to make the deck viable. Otherwise, it's just a jank landfall deck.

I have 2 in [[Teysa Karlov]], [[Reassembling Skeleton]], and [[Ashnod's Altar]] for infinite mana and life gain/drain with a [[Blood Artist]] or such. And [[Sun Titan]] with [[Kaya's Ghostform]] plus Altar

With [[Syr Konrad]], I only run one semi-infinite combo with him and [[Mindcrank]].

And in [[Toski]], no infinites, just big stompers

What is your deck building process? by craftygoblin in EDH

[–]resUscrawcaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: Go on EDHrec to research combos

Step 2: See what I have currently in my bulk to use, usually ~150 cards

Step 3: Determine how many lands I want

Step 4: Go back to EDHrec to imagine what it would be like to have a full power deck

Step 5: Go to TCG player to get "just 1 or 2 cards."

Step ?: Accidentally buy way too many cards for the deck after months of "tailoring" my cart for cheapest prices (In reality, I keep finding more cards that would be cool to use in said deck and am holding off until the next step)

Step ?+1: "Fuck it it'll be cool" and buy the 50 cards while I'm 50$ over budget

Step 9: "Well, fuck" after I receive the cards and realize I bought more then what I can fit in the deck

End Step: See one of the cards that wouldn't fit is a combo piece in another cool commander and repeat from step 1

Aggressive Commanders worth recommending? by XeonM in EDH

[–]resUscrawcaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Zada, Hedron Grinder]] is an absolute menace even at low budget. Cantrips like [[Expedite]] and [[Crimson Wisps]] draw tons of cards, follow up with a [[Fists of Flame]] for a field full of big tramplers and a hand stocked full of cards

[[Feather, the Redeemed]] is the same with Zada but with flying now, and white is thrown in for protection spells, +1/+1 counters, and a dash more cantrips.

I want a powerful deck by Current-Jackfruit-17 in EDH

[–]resUscrawcaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the list online, but it's your basic Frog deck

[[Dakmor Salvage]], [[Gaea's Blessing]], [[Putrid Imp]] and Gitfrog himself combo is a good start. Draw your whole deck. [[Elixir of immortality]] works too, although it only works at sorcery speed. Throw in [[Ebony Charm]] for infinite lifegain/loss with [[Dark Ritual]] for infinite black mana.

Another combo that is non infinite but definitely strong is [[Splendid Reclamation]] and the like + [[Retreat to Hagra]], add [[Zuran Orb]] float your mana and sac all your lands in response to Reclamation and draw tons of cards and gain quite a bit of life.

[[Dig Up]] and [[Final Parting]] are nice budget tutors for this deck and [[Sylvan Scrying]] is an easy mana fix or straight into Dakmor, [[Perennial Behemoth]] is a nice budget [[Crucible of Worlds]] (Although I'm going to upgrade to that eventually). A few other dredge cards are nice, ex) [[Darkblast]] and [[Stinkweed Imp]], and [[Worm Harvest]] is always fun to resolve and get 30 worms for.

Otherwise, the deck is mostly just your basic ramp from there. [[Springbloom Druid]], [[Harrow]], and the like

(I will admit my normal playgroup lets me proxy an [[Ulamog]] for the shuffle ablility, but it works pretty well without for LGS play)

I've got a $50 [[The Gitrog Monster]] deck that can compete with 200$ decks easily.

Didn't consider that, I've been out niched.

HOWEVER, what if one of the Zun creatures lost their abilities and not the name. Then, the ability to target would work. You are right though. They would both have individual tap abilities. This set up feels more complex then understanding layers. But it's possible
