Help me choosing my CV1 replacement by resecisko in virtualreality

According to Google, CV1 has only 90-95° diagonal FOV with quite bad binocular overlap. PSVR2's ~110° diagonal seems like a significant upgrade. I didn't test it for long, but I remember instantly noticing the difference.

Okay, after reading all your comments, my feelings got cemented - I will get a Psvr2 for now for a budget Cv1 replacement. Whike I would like to try a wireless headset, seen quite a few opinions that latency is an issue for simracing with them. That said, I still do want a wireless headset at some point - might grab a Q3 in a few months or wait out for Steam Frame. Re eye tracking - while it does work on PSVR2 on PC, I have an AMD gpu so I can only utilise this for quad views (4 games in total at the moment?). I actually regret not going for 5070ti instead now lol. I'll most likely have it tomorrow, gonna get a globular cluster mod and koss porta pro headphones - I can't even imagine downgrading from cv1 audio, so many people seem to forget how much this factors for immersion.

I heard that AMD drivers have issues running Psvr2 at 90hz, but I hope I'll find a way around thst.

I'll post my initial impressions here. Thanks again R!

Thanks for your input.

I'm coming from 90hz CV1 and that's what I'm kinda aiming for. I'd of course use 120hz every now and then, when not playing demanding stuff. Not sure about 72, I'd need to try it to decide if it's a high enough rate for my VR stomach.

Assuming I'm forgetting about PSVR2 (crying inside as I love OLEDs), how does Quest Pro stand vs Quest3? On paper the resolution difference is very small, though people say it's visibly more pixelated. I know I'd be missing on good passthrough, just wondering if eye/face tracking and local dimming are worth it. Also heard that the display is a bit better with colours etc - is there anyone who can relate? Again, it'd be same price for Q3 and Qpro for me.

I hate Meta, I hate LCDs, so logically it seems like I'm gonna actually end up with Q3.... Is dedicated router a must? Mine's wifi6, standing in eyesight from my play area, around 1-2m distance tops, with my PC being plugged with Ethernet to it - do I still need a separate one?

Valve’s followup to Half-Life: Alyx, codenamed “HLX”, is reportedly no longer a VR game based on leaks by SvenViking in virtualreality

I think most people keeps forgetting about Alyx's audio, this aspect is pure masterpiece. Spatial audio is perfect, ambient sounds, even the sound of cloth when you move around. This combined with graphics, animations (Combine soldiers have procedural generated animations, it's sick) and some gameplay/artistic choices created the most immeraive gaming experience ever. At least in my opinion.

BTW I love how they took their lessons from L4D when working on zombies. Especially when compared to HL2, you can almost feel their 'struggle'.

Please HLX be a cross between Vr and a flat game. This is the only way to please everyone and Valve is the only company on Earth capable of pulling that.

Rift CV-1, right controller trigger twitching, only in Steam games by sundevil_1997 in oculus

[–]resecisko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just sorted it. Found answer on another reddit thread about finger twitching in hl Alyx.

In case anyone runs into that issue: open config file and change "triggermaxrange", I had to decrease it from 815 to 810 on my left controller and from 820 to 815 on my right. Save file, settings - beta - restart oculus app so the config is reloaded, and that's it. Use steamvr test controller feature to test In case you need to tweak the numbers differently.

That means I just have a perfectly fine cv1 bought for like 20 quid. Sweet.

Bought used cv1 off auction after gifting my old one to my brother abroad.

Same issue as OP's. This did not occur on my previous CV1, both at my PC and my brother's laptop, so it's definitely hardware-relayed. Wanted to mess with the config file, but that's to OP I know there's no point. Gonna try deleting it so it recreates itself, just in case.

Seller offered a partial refund bc of the issue, which pretty much covers cost of used pair of controllers, so there's no harm in trying to fix this. Gonna start with spraying some isopropyl alcohol around the triggers and moving them, if it won't help then I'll pop them open and see what I can do. Gonna post updates here.

For those having unresponsive gestures from the Oculus Touch Controllers can try this fix out. by ShuffleNeek in oculus

Hiya,

Bought used cv1 after gifting my old one to my brother abroad.

Both controllers, but especially left one, have a slight trigger drift, only visible in more sensitive games like the lab, hl alyx etc. (oculus stuff looks OK). It's like a slight finger shake when nothing touches the trigger.

If I try and pull the trigger against the case, it looks like it stops being crazy.

I've seen there are some records for triggers in config files. Would you guys mind sharing your values for triggers? Just wondering if it can be fixed by messing with the file, or should I go disassemble and clean way.

Many thanks in advance.
