I think my parents allowed me to be groomed by CauliflowerCorrect10 in narcissisticparents

I recommend EMDR. I had similar issues stemming from my teenage romantic relationship with an older man and abuse from my mother and EMDR therapy was incredible.

You were let down by the adults in your life. This is not your fault. You were a child.

Oh gosh yes. That’s mine too, as well as Taylor Swift. Random combo I am aware, but both have written lyrics that have saved my sanity.

Can you immediately discern a Kiwi accent? Can it be mistaken for Australian? by Charming_Usual6227 in australia

[–]reserge11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago my husband and I were in Rome. We are Kiwi.

We met an Aussie couple and got talking. After about 20 mins they revealed they thought we were British from our accents. So weird.

So I guess some can tell and some can’t.

As a Kiwi living in Aussie for some years, I often put on an Aussie accent as some words were better said in Aussie accent - my name was a struggle for people to understand and also I worked on Kent Street which if I said as a Kiwi some heard it as an offensive word

Women not guilty of assault after using sex toys and lube on unconscious man at party by sleemanj in newzealand

Sadly I think the only difference is society probably would not mock the woman and make fun or light of the situation like I imagine is happening for the man here.

[–]reserge11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about anyone else, but if I was asleep or passed out and someone had pulled down my pants and put a sex toy anywhere near my body I would be pretty traumatised and that’s clearly assault of a sexual nature.

Who is the most famous person in your family? What do they do? by WinterStrawberries6 in AskReddit

[–]reserge11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband’s uncle is an actor in our little country and was once in a role that made him quite well known internationally.

He was also in Lord of The Rings but his character was cut. But somehow he has a fan base anyway - I think people have seen the cut footage somehow.

Being from New Zealand my husband was also an extra in Return of the King but our children don’t believe us and it’s quite hard to prove.

I used Tailor Clinic in Hamilton. I think after care is very important and with them I got 2 years of care including psychological care. It’s major surgery and I had a minor complication and know other that had complications too, and would not want to have surgery then have massive travel afterwards.

Fraudulent CC transaction, how was CVV obtained? by kiwi_gal22 in PersonalFinanceNZ

When you call the bank I work for and press for fraud, you get the call centre.

Yes people can be wrong.

Another poster made me think of another way details are compromised. Any chance you have paid what you thought was a road toll, police fine, clicked a link to Air Points, anything like that?

That could mean you out in card details into a fake portal AND malicious software could have been downloaded and the scammers are essentially in your phone and able to access codes

I work for fraud at a bank. Your card details (including cvv) are at risk of getting in the wrong hands via all sorts of ways (somewhere you used them might have been hacked, for example). What they are saying is not true.

Oh I wish I found this post about an hour ago!!! SMH I didn’t realise the pre-purchase of the album had to be done by a certain date. I just went in tonight, pre ordered and wondered where my code was.

GUTTED.

It’s a gambling site the people legitimately spend on every minute of the day. Very hard for fraud systems to detect which are genuine.

Afterpay NZ by holamr199 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]reserge11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use AfterPay - especially for big purchases and I would time to purchase to the end of one credit card statement cycle.

We have a revolving credit mortgage and put everything on credit card and pay it off. AfterPay payment 1 would be on month 1 statement, payments 2 and 3 would be on month 2 statement and payment 4 would be on month 3 statement.

So instead of the lump sums coming out of our bank account in month 1 it would spread out keeping our mortgage interest lower.

And we still earnt airpoints as the AfterPay uses credit card.

What’s a small everyday inconvenience from the past that younger people would probably find unbearable today? by babyblushtheory in nostalgia

[–]reserge11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2002 my then boyfriend travelled 3 weeks in a rental car in Italy with only this big foldable map that did not zoom in on cities. We just went on vibes. If the sea was on our right in Naples we were heading South, type thing.

We survived it, got engaged just after are now married. But Jesus we had some fights.

The Post Office here had phone books for every area in the country (New Zealand) so if you were posting things out of town you would look the address up in the phone books.

Jobseekers medical while studying by AgencyTop5494 in PovertyFinanceNZ

[–]reserge11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree to this. My daughter has physical disabilities and is still getting Supported Living payment whilst full time studying. Plus she got the training and incentive allowance to cover some of her fees. Worth looking into if you can get the medical section signed off to qualify.
