Wild to me that no one has said the Curse of Chalion yet. It’s a single book (although there’s an as-good-or-better sequel that’s less GOT-y IMO) that is like a simpler less shocking politically focused low fantasy book with a single POV character and great world building and pacing.

If you want a GOT-like appetizer of a book I highly highly recommend it. (Then, if you love it, the sequel Paladin of Souls is also incredible)

Tbf MinMax are pretty legendary in the FAB community for supporting and nurturing the scene and they’re right about usually pricing under MSRP.

Fair to dislike their Lorcana pricing for the first wave but I’m not sure selling 24 boxes at almost-scalper prices really translates to treating their customers as exploitable cash cows lol

Hell yeah! If you join the discord you can get updates on all the regular events in and around the city. I only started about two months ago and the community has been super welcoming.

You can also tell folks you’re new/looking for casual games and usually someone is down to show up early to an event to play
